We booked an 11:30am tour for our family of 5 a few days ahead of time online. The email confirmation you receive doesn't provide the time you booked it for so make sure to write it down (especially if your mind slips into vacation mode like mine does). I wasn't exactly sure on the time, but the evening before we received a call saying that one of their guides had an emergency so they were canceling some of the tours. They asked if we could do a 12pm tour instead, which worked fine for our schedule. We were lucky to have this tour on a warm, sunny December day. My kids were complaining about the sun in their eyes and the heat while we were waiting for the airboat (bring hats and sunglasses for all), but all complaints ended as soon as the airboat took off. It was a gorgeous day to be on a boat and that alone made me happy. The alligators were an added bonus. I assumed we would see a few alligators, but we saw dozens. Our very informative tour guide stopped several times to point out alligators and shared a ton of info. He mentioned they really like the sun so our sunny day probably helped with so many sightings. The 50 minute tour was the perfect amount of time. I think my 9, 7 and 4 year old enjoyed the actual boat ride (especially the faster parts) and seeing the alligators. The information itself was a bit dry so I think they were a bit bored at times and it definitely went over my 4 year old's head. I was also a bit surprised they don't make you wear life jackets (especially the kids) on the boat, but then again you don't want to fall off into alligator land life vest or not. It was a fun activity and something new to try during our frequent trips to Florida, but definitely a one time thing (especially for the cost) and probably wouldn't do it again. I almost consider myself an alligator expert now.

Captain Chris took us on a terrific 90 minute airboat ride today. We have done this before and…read moreenjoyed it, but with Chris we really felt it was an even better experience. He took the time to really educate us on the unique and special nature of the Everglades, the plants and animals as well as the Seminole and Miccosukee tribal history. Plus he drove fast and did some cool twists and turns! I'd highly recommend Florida Airboat Rides and Captain Chris in particular.

Delightful private tour of the everglades for 4 adults and 2 children with Captain Wayne. 1.5 hours…read moreof exploration and education about the everglades, its history and wildlife. we got to see 7 alligators, one a mama with at least 3 babies we could see. The wrecked plane was fascinating. we also learned how Marjorie Stoneham Douglas saved the everglades with an assist from President Nixon. Pricey but well worth the money vs. the cheap non-private airboat rides that focus more on thrilling boat ride than wildlife. The grandchildren loved it and Wayne seemed to enjoy sharing his knowledge with them.
