This place has been on my "to-try" list for quite a while. I'm so glad we finally made it there, we had dinner Sunday. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was pretty chill. Just a good experience overall! We had gator bites for an appetizer. They were delicious, as were the fried jalapeños that are served with them. The sauce for dipping also had really great flavor. My friend ordered the swamp pasta, he said it could have used more crawfish and andouille sausage mixed in, but in general had great flavor and was a very generous portion. He also had the red beans and rice for his side, which he enjoyed. I had the shrimp po boy, it was very good, and was also a very generous portion. I ended up only eating half of the bun, though I finished the fried shrimp. I had crawfish etouffee for my side, it was really good, a little heavy on the salt. Okay I'm going to be honest I did not have faith. I've been to New Orleans many times and each time I go to Cajun or Creole restaurant outside of New Orleans it's not good. This was the exception! What a hidden little gem and the prices were great. Love the warehouse feel on the outside and when you walk in it is very inviting. Staff is friendly and quick with suggestions and hit that bar area if the wait is too long. We love going to Pappadeaux's but their prices are a bit much so we frequent their 1x/yr. They have a bourbon slushie that is out of this world and as for appz you gotta go with the gator. We ordered the voodoo catfish w a side of crawfish etoufee and it wasn't bad but a bit salty. We came here for Mother's Day after another Cajun restaurant in northern Kentucky "lost" our reservations. I can safely say SWG has stood the test of time in quality, consistency and fun on the river. Feeling like a crisp salad with fresh grilled cajun or creole chicken or seafood? Maybe some grilled ribs? Pork belly, shrimp, rice and beans, jambalaya, indulgent bread pudding, craft beers, they will take care of you. There is frequently management and ownership presence on site, which is always refreshing and explains the consistency and quality. We enjoy the dark - down on the bayou - atmosphere and feel transported to one of our favorite places in the south every time we visit.
