Our server was attentive and met all of our needs. I started with a lovely Pomegranate cocktail that was delightful. The location was really neat with many antiques hanging on the walls. It seems like a neighborhood bar and grill as parking is on the street only and was tricky to find a spot nearby. The food was OK. It left a little bit to be desired. My grilled chicken strips were very flavorful. My husband had the French Onion soup and it was pretty plain with just a dab of cheese on top. His hamburger was also just OK. Nothing to write home about with the food. We did order the Fudge cake with Graeter's ice cream for dessert. This dessert needed chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry. Love the tuna melt, sweet potato and regular fries here! My friend ordered the lobster bisque. I tasted it, it was scrumptious. You could tell it was fresh and flavorful! Stopped in before a show at the playhouse. It had been a while, and to be honest, I had low expectations. We got some beers and a few apps. Sadly, they were out of the jalepeno ravioli, but that forced us to try the bangers, which were surprisingly good though not the prettiest presentation. It's a quarter of a sausage in half a crossiant, but the side sauce saves the day. We also split some chicken wings which were surprisingly good. While I didn't have one this visit, I was stunned to see that burgers are still on the menu at $8-$11. Fries are a la cart, but I think only like $3.5. The missing star is for the last round of beers we ordered. After waiting for 10 minutes (we were sitting 3 feet from the bar), we had to track down our waiter and cancel the order as we were now too tight on time. You won't be amazed by the MABAG, but you might be pleasantly surprised. read more

I had a reuben that was super thin with a side of 3.50 sweet potato fries for around 15 dollars. It tasted ok but was very light on sauerkraut and thousand dressing. Wings were good as an appertizer. They were very small but had a good buffalo sauce. We also got the jalapeño ravioli squares; good but thin. My wife's burger was very small and nothing special. Add 5.50 for fries and a slaw. I had dinner here on Saturday evening before seeing a play with my daughter-in-law. It wasn't super busy when we arrived and we were seated quickly. We ordered cocktails - the Prohibition Manhattan - and it was perfect! The food was ok. Nothing great but we picked this place because of its proximity to the Playhouse. I had the Cheeseburger and my daughter-in-law had the Chicken Sandwich. The service was friendly and quick. The parking around this place is a nightmare, though. We drove around the blocks several times and it's difficult to find any street parking. We finally found a garage nearby for $5 - so, if you're eating dinner before a play you'd want to factor in the extra time to find parking. read more

Such a cool bar and grill. It has such a nice vibe to the place and friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere. I am so glad we stopped in. We were in between some sightseeing and needed to grab a very late lunch before dinner. We were going to eat in a few hours so it was a good option for a small, quick meal. Service was slow at 3:30/4:00 pm but super friendly. Loved our server and she suggested a half salad to accommodate the situation and also gave me a chance to try that Greek Salad I had my eye on. Only thoughts on that are for the 1/2 salad price I would just go for the full salad next time. My partner and I both enjoyed the food and the restaurant. I walked in and was ignored, then sat down at the bar and ordered what the server described as a very popular Greek salad. She said it was a big salad so I didn't order any protein with it. It arrived and consisted of a shallow layer of lettuce on a plate. It had canned black olives and three whole Kalamata olives placed next to an ice cream scoop of "tabbouleh" - which, for being a parsley-based salad had not a leaf of green. I almost sent it back but realized that I was in Cincinnati and perhaps the restaurant did not know any better. For some reason this restaurant is the first listed when I googled "best restaurant for lunch in Mt. Adams". I love Mt Adams... I think it's the character of homes, eateries, churches and nearby Eden Park that does it for me. Mt Adams Bar and Grill has always been a restaurant that I keep in my back pocket at all times. I've always had good experiences and most recently enjoyed another visit. The fish platter with coleslaw was great and I loooove the fries here. The only disappointment was $4 for half of a small avocado- that's an extreme markup. Our waiter was exceptionally patient as I arrived earlier than my friend. He checked on us consistently and was very kind the entire time. I'll be back! read more

This is not the first time my wife and I have visited this establishment. For us, it has been a good stop for shows at Playhouse in the Park, its location only a quick walk to the theatre. This evening was no different. On arrival we were quickly seated by our Host, in a rear section of the building, that we did not even know existed. Our server, Jacqueline, was quickly at our service with ice water and an introduction. With plenty time before to leisurely enjoy a bottle of wine we ordered a Cabernet to start. Jacqueline arrived with the wine glasses then quickly was gone. With a quick glimpse we could see that these glasses had not been cleaned well, fingerprints and lip prints were still present and a stickyness still on the stem. When Jacqueline arrived with the wine, already open, we shared our observations about the glasses with her. She left the bottle behind and sped away with the dirty glasses. So, as I picked up the bottle to read the label, as I always do, I noticed that the bottle, too, had a sticky feel but even more it was warm, as though it had been sitting in the sun all afternoon. When Jacqueline arrived back with the glasses they had been given a half-hearted cleaning by someone and still were not clean as a wine glass typically is (or a beer mug, for that matter). I did not have the heart to continue the saga of the dirty wine glasses nor did I feel inclined to bring up the issues with the wine. Enough said about that. We moved on to ordering dinner. My wife opted for the Greek Salad and I ordered the Mexican Black Bean Burrito Supreme. Our orders arrived and were presented nicely and we began enjoying our meal. Everything was tasty until I added the salsa to a bite of my burrito and a zing came across in my mouth, not a zing of spice but the zing you get when a condiment has been around for too long and has spoiled. So I set it aside. When Jacqueline came back around I pointed this out and she took it away. The remainder of our meal was very good and overall our visit was as we had experienced in the past. We enjoyed our meals and dropped an appropriate tip, and as we were leaving I saw Jacqueline waiting at the bar for some drinks and I thanked her for her service and I especially thanked her for not ignoring our table because there were some issues. This happens often when servers become uncomfortable with a table, they just stay away. The Mt. Adam's Bar and Grill is a fun place. We really like the ambiance and the food there and will return again next time we're up there for a show. read more

This weekend, we came to Mt Adams Bar and Grill for a late lunch, where we enjoyed quick service, lemonade and good, basic sandwiches. I had the turkey burger (plain but I felt healthy and virtuous), daughter had a plain hamburger ("it's good"), hubby had the grilled fish sandwich ("good but a little salty"). Stick with the chips instead of the fries. We also had the hummus appetizer with warm pita triangles, which I would definitely order again - delicious! The decor is great, lots of things to look at from our comfy booth table in the front. Full menu with lots to choose from. Server was quick and friendly. We came for lunch. The service was very good on the beginning. I was very surprised that there was only 1 server in the back room, but she kept up with everyone. The food was good. We got a Greek salad, Grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the House salad with tofu. The Greek salad was filling and a good size for lunch. It came with warm pita and hummus and Tabula. The House salad had a great combination of items and the tofu was cooked well. The grilled chicken sandwich was great - our son gobbled the sandwich and fries up. He even decided to try the spices pumpkin cake for dessert - and again ate every bite!! Snooty and pretentious; if you're not a local you're invisible My wife and I stopped here for lunch. When we went in the hostess said their servers were very busy, and that we could have a seat at the bar while we wait for a table. The bartender didn't even acknowledge us, but when two of his friends came in he acted like they were celebrities; chatting them up, shaking their hand, laughing, etc. He stood there, yammering with them, like we weren't even there. After sitting there for about 15 minutes a group of four came in, and the same hostess whisked them right to a table. She put them at a table for four, so I get it. Whatever. About 10 minutes later the bartender's friends left, and THEN he decides to ask us if we wanted anything. We said no, hoping we would have a table soon. About another five minutes went by and another couple walked in the door. The same hostess looked right at us, grabbed two menus and showed the couple to a table. She totally blew us off. My wife is normally a go-with-the-flow person, but even she had had enough. So we left. We walked a few blocks down the street to El Barril and had an excellent meal, and the people were as friendly as could be....no uppity attitude at all. Staff was okay, not super friendly but not nasty either. It took a minute to place our order. The environment was cool, small space, dim lighting. I ordered a turkey burger and fries. I added the fries because the sandwiches comes with chips. However no chips came out. The food came out fairly quickly. I was extremely disappointed in my meal. The burger was very bland, no seasoning at all. Turkey burgers have to have something to bring out the favor. The fries were okay, but it a small portion. Someone else got the pasta and it had no favor also. It was returned for a grill cheese. I am not motivated to return to this location. The service was just okay and the food was not good at all. Neighborhood bar feel with friendly employees. We typically come here and sit at the bar as there is always an interesting character or two to engage in a conversation with. Drinks -- straightforward with a good selection. A good amount of beers on draft, strong cocktails and frozen drinks. Food -- we've gotten a lot here but we always come back to the burger. Simple, classic burger done to perfection. The fries are in top 3 or 4 in the city if that's your thing. We've also hit up the fried fish, wings, Rueben and chicken sammie's which were well above average. Vibe -- as mentioned it's a cozy, low light, dark wooded bar and restaurant (with lots of seating) that's perfect for the winter months. No frills, lots of history -- seriously, read up about their history! TLDR: great food, nice people, fun times. What more could you ask for? read more

This was such a great lunch spot! After our first choice was super busy, we walked down the block to Mt. Adams Bar and Grill. This should have been our first choice! We were seated in a back patio room. Had it been nice outside, I would've felt like I was sitting on a screened in porch. Our server was quick and attentive, even with a birthday party that kept flagging her down to get a lighter for candles (there is a time and place....this was neither.) Even with all that, she continually had a smile on her face and answered our questions. I ordered the burger and fries. My mom had the grilled chicken sandwich with coleslaw. The burger reminded me of a Frisch's burger (which is one of my favorites). And I'm not sure exactly how the fries were breaded but I could eat them all day, every day! The walls were filled with signed celebrity headshots, but I didn't know who half of them were. From our booth, I read this site was originally a grocery store in 1923. Anyway, for lunch, I had the turkey sandwich, my wife had the vegetable soup (one of the soup's of the day), and shared a slice of pecan pie. All were fine.
