I purchased the Yelp deal just to try out this salon. I actually live in the neighborhood so I figure I should check it out. Boy, am I glad I did!! Ambiance: super cute, clean and it smells good. Yes, no over powering chemical smells and I love how cozy and chic it is. Customer service: from the moment I stepped in the door, Michelle greeted me with smiles (no matter what you're wearing. I was kinda wearing something super casual). And Sherri (I believe she's the owner), super sweet. I got a deep conditioning treatment which I will probably get every time I go there (and yes...I will be back). That took about 10-15 minutes. I loved the Moroccan Oil products they use. Good stuff for your hair. Next came the important stuff: styling and cutting. I'm very picky about my hair (like a lot of women). I just moved from Los Angeles and I've been looking for someone whom I can trust my hair with. My first haircut in Dallas was at Salon DiFede. I was not too crazy about my hair cut. I have thick, coarse, wavy hair. And all I wanted was layers. Well, the stylist at DiFede didn't really do a great job because she didn't blend the long layers very well. So, I looked like I have a weird gap in between my layers. Michelle noticed it right away and started cutting and blending away. She knows how to work with long hair...you'd be surprised how many stylists do not know how to work with long hair with different textures!! Blowout: holy smokes! The last time I got an amazing blowout was when I was in New York at John Barrett's salon (see Kayley....amazing!!) and Michelle really surprised with her blowout! I LOVED the way my hair was bouncing. I got so many compliments that evening and it held up the next day! You know you got a fabulous blowout when your hair still looks amazing the next day. So, bottom line: a hidden gem in the Addison Circle. Why waste your money at sub-par "high-end" salons when you can just go to Swank Salon for a guaranteed amazing look. I've been going here for about 4 months now. I live in Richardson, so that shows the dedication I have in driving 25 minutes down to Addison just to get a haircut. Here's the hoedown on this place. Wonderful. I don't say this because I've received amazing haircuts from this place. I say that because literally everything they do, from customer care, all the way to styling is spot on. I've been to any hairstylist cliche, you name it. Great clips, sport clips, hole in the wall stylists, at home stylists, even beauty schools. Nothing compares to this place. They sit you down, ask you for your desired style, then work with you based on your suggestions for a look optimal to your facial features and cut your hair. The first time i went in, a lady named Vicky helped me out and taught me the ropes on how my hair would work and how it'd look best. Sherri, the owner, further upped the anti with her input during my next session, and my hair has literally been flawless. This place is a time investment though, as a haircut from start to finish takes a solid hour, maybe even ninety minutes, but it's well worth the time. This is because they avoid electrical razors due to the accuracy of hand cutting, and they don't flake on anything, from sanitation to style. Vicky changed her comb when she added conditioner into my hair as to not get dry and wet hair particles mixed up. Like, the place is incredibly good about that stuff. I was especially amazed at how Sherri will examine your eye color and skin tones and know EXACTLY what colors will look best on you. I Love Swank Salon! I get greeted by my stylist, Michelle Stringfellow as soon as I walk in. Typically I sit right down for my appointment, however the most I have had to wait is five minutes for Michelle to be ready. Everyone I have met there has been super sweet like Sherry the owner. Michelle has been cutting and coloring my hair for about a year now and my hair has seriously never looked so good. I get so many compliments that I am always handing out her cards. My hair looks so good I can't believe my lucky stars I found her and this great salon. The salon is centrally located just off the tollway it only takes me 10 minutes to get there and I park right out front. Easy Breezy! I don't make much money, and I am used to paying less for a cut and color that was always more than a little off. So I do pay a little more at swank but the highly experienced beauticians and the friendly service are worth it. $$ Michelle always can fit me in for a quick cut when when I'm in a pinch. This is an amazing salon. I work with Christian and she does the absolute best color and extension work ever! One thing I love about working with Christian is that she knows her stuff! She uses high quality products on my hair and has amazing prices. She is dedicated to her craft and you can tell that she has a passion for hair because you will not leave until it is absolutely perfect! This salon is located in a great area and has a boutique feel. The other ladies working there are lovely, very attentive and polite. I was originally only going to try this location once for extensions but I enjoyed my experience so much I dropped my old stylist that was overpriced and not nearly as talented as Christian. As a small town girl I've never really experience having a hair stylist who really knew what she was doing. My first appointment with Swank was an eye opening experience, I came in with a picture I had previously shown another stylist who had completely butchered my hair and basically sent me out of her salon with a mullet. After showing Sherri the same picture she was able to tell why the stylist butchered it and how she was going to cut my hair to get the style I wanted. I left more than pleased. On top of the that they are very accommodating with my hectic work schedule. As someone who spends six days a week couped up in an office something as simple as getting in for a hair cut is a bit of a hassle. Sherri has been my hairstylist for years now and I am pretty fortunate to have a stylist I can practically walk from my home to get the style I want. She manages on how to cut curly hair, but she always seems to know her stuff when it comes to educating on how to manage your hair I. A daily basis. If only I can show how beautiful she has made my hair look like as of today with her special advise on hair techniques! Definitely recommend Sherri as your hair stylist. This place is amazing - classy and just enough sassy! Everyone was very nice and laid back. One of the stylists, Ari, did an absolutely fantastic job on my hair! I went from long hair past my shoulder blades to a very short pixie style and even threw in subtle purple tones on the bottom layers to give it that extra pizzazz! I had never been here and was naturally a little worried going to someone new for a drastic change (plus my hair can be very difficult to style). You can tell she loves her job and wants you to have the perfect haircut. She won't rest until you're both satisfied with the look. We both scheduled appointments for the following Saturday (09/12) and walked out already impressed. When we went back on the 12th, we were NOT disappointed. Gloria Pigott took care of both of us. Color, cut and style...we both walked out with smiles. Gloria heard what we wanted and delivered! Swank is a cool salon with a laid back vibe in a charming part of Addison. I found this salon about a year ago and am so hooked! Sherry is absolutely fabulous with color and has turned me from a blonde to a red head and then back again.
