Violated Their Own Policy and Lost a Loyal Customer I'm disappointed to write this because I've been a happy customer at Johnny Rodriguez salon for almost a year. But my recent experience has changed how I feel about this place. What Happened: I booked an appointment online, but immediately after, I realized I wouldn't be able to make it. The problem: there's no online cancellation option. Life got busy and I wasn't able to call the salon in time to cancel. When they called to follow up, I apologized and explained I'd been overwhelmed with work. The staff was understanding and told me, "Next time, just call the salon to cancel it." Sounds reasonable, right? Not quite. The Issue: Despite their understanding response, they charged me a 50% no-show penalty. According to their own stated policy, there should be NO charge for a first-time no-show. The 50% penalty only applies if you miss multiple appointments. This was my first no-show in almost a year of being a loyal customer. Why This Bothers Me: It's not about the $30-40. It's about the principle. They violated their own policy, showed inconsistency, and treated a loyal customer poorly. If I had known there was no online cancellation option and that they'd charge me anyway despite their stated policy, I would have made the effort to call. The lack of an online cancellation system combined with the unfair penalty feels unprofessional and frankly, vindictive. A year of loyalty meant nothing when it came time to follow their own rules. Ellie was so sweet, efficient, and produced beautiful quality results. I have thick and long hair and she still took her time despite it taking longer than an hour. I appreciated her attention to detail and she kindly asked another stylist to help blow dry my hair so I could be out faster so my husband didn't have to wait. I told her not to worry about it as timing had nothing to do w her but everything to do with my long & thick hair. She managed to have me shampoo'd, cut, dried, and styled within a little less than an hour and a half without compromising on quality. Originally got my haircut here two weekends ago before I got a hair redo for medical reasons, to which I had to get my hair cut shorter to prevent skin irritations due to heat rashes, as much as I loved the original cut and the amount of compliments I received at work, it was medically necessary for me to shorten it more to prevent any further irritations from the Texas summer heat. My artist name was Karlie Brewer, she helped me out so much and cut the style that best fit with my needs and honestly I think I love the redo more than the original, even though the first haircut was also amazing, the fact that my body feels less irritated from the sweat in the back of my neck feels so amazing! She always listened and worked with what I needed and did not disappoint! Truth is I have a hard time trusting anyone to cut my hair, and I have my regular professional hair stylist I go to back where I used to live in California. So I was very hesitant to try a new spot here in Texas and put my trust on someone new. After my experience working with Karlie, I would like to say that I have my full trust in her to give me the style and cut that I want and need. So I'm definitely going to be a regular customer for as long as I still live here. Christie looks like she's been in this industry for a LONG TIME to know what's red and what's not. I went in for a gloss since my hair was getting brassy. My initial lady knows I don't like red tint but for some reason she made it darker and redder. I went in a few days later for Christie to tell me "well we can gloss it today to get rid of what you're calling red" GIRL! Look at these photos. ITS RED! The lady doing my hair even said it's red. I was even told she was a "color educator". If you're an educator you know the difference between red and cool. Don't gas light your customers. My rating will be no stars at all first my husband went in to ask for a taper fade and they said Brenda was very qualified as well he got color so the haircut was the worst I've ever seen I know I could of done a better job she does not know how to blend in or do men hair at all she left a chillie bow hair cut with zig zag line on the back they left black hair dye all over his head and forehead when his hair is not black any experience stylist would've know to use dark brown with a small amount of black mixed in it I told him not to go to her because my boss went to her and she cut her hair so bad it took 3 different stylist to fix what she did they still had the audacity to charge him 160$ now I went in after him because he rushed home to pick me up so I could make it to my app I don't know who did my hair but she was said to be there for 5yrs and very experienced I showed a picture of a long bob and oh my goodness she cut my hair so short it's no where near a bob it one length straight across with some supposed layers which are just chunks in different spots it's worse than Dora the explorer I don't know what to do looking like this my person who usually cuts my hair charges me 35$ I just moved far away so I expected with the prices it would be worth it. Let me begin by stating that I have given this salon multiple tries. The first time I went, I left with a HORRIBLE balayage and an uneven cut. I called and got in for a color correct and to fix the cut. I decided to go in again. I booked an appointment online and was immediately emailed the charges (see below), just like the first time I went. I spent OVER 7 hours getting a balayage and cut. I couldn't believe how long it took! I have never had such a long salon visit! While I was there, the salon closed and the receptionist asked for me to go ahead and pay since they needed to close the register. Since I had already been given the price and trusted the salon, I handed over my credit card while still in the chair and told her she could put 20% for the stylist. The receptionist came back and handed me my card. I asked if I could get a receipt and she went back to print me one. When I looked at the receipt, I was overcharged $120!!!!!! They tacked on multiple services without disclosing them to me! I was so shocked, I was left speechless. When I got home, I really didn't feel right about all the overages and contacted the salon. The owner was RUDE and accused me of not wanting me to pay! She told me that I was taking money from her stylist. I couldn't believe my ears! What kind of owner accuses a customer of being a liar! She continued to argue with me and told me that their online prices are starting prices and that it's not their responsibility to disclose the upcharges! DO NOT GO HERE! First time customer DON'T WASTE YOUR $300.00 on JOHNNY.. Horrible experience in every area. 1) Reception girl was very unfriendly and did not check me in properly. I sat waiting for 20 mins. I had to go back up and see what was going on, this caused JOHNNY to run behind. 2) I showed JOHNNY a picture of what hair cut I wanted, there was some minor correction cutting but he assured he could do my cut as requested. 3) During cutting my hair, JOHNNY was interrupted at lease three times, left my chair to attend to another client in the middle of my blow dry had another stylist blow dry my hair for about 5 minutes. 4) Once JOHNNY was finished with the cut then he asked what I thought? I told him it was very short. Now, my hair length is just below my ears. He asked again, how I liked it and my response was.. I would never wear my hair like this. He could tell I was not really crazy about it. Awkward moment of silence ...then I said, I would never wear my hair like this... JOHNNY said, you'll like it once you let it dry naturally. He then hurriedly went to his next client. 5) JOHNNY as the owner, should have paid more attention to what we agreed upon with my hair cut. He hurried through the cut , and then didn't even go through the cut to check it. He was totally distracted with his staff instead of focusing ‍ on his own $300.00 paying customer at that time. Once, he saw, that I was not happy, he should have tried to offer some condolences, offered a huge discount or free haircut, but none of those didn't happen. That's why I feel that I need to share this experience, so others that are apprehensive to spend $300.00 on a haircut with JOHNNY RODRIGUEZ WON'T! waste their money$$ So incredibly disappointed read more
