Pretty hard course, lots of hills, blind shots, ravines and very confusing doglegs. I think it made it difficult that our cart's gps kept on thinking we're on the other fairway so the distance was never accurate. Thank goodness for our range finder. The course was fun but challenging. The people and the clubhouse makes this course a 4 star place because the service from the ranger, starter, and cart girl was SUPERB! The clubhouse bathroom was so buffed equipped with everything you could ever need and it's clean, spacious, and had great amenities. Unfortunately, the bathroom on the course didn't have sinks for men and women. lol Carts are electric with gps but pretty much quite basic. Shout out to the rangers and especially, Reggie. He's so helpful, kind, and personable. He made our day! What a guy. I will return to this course all because of him! Thank you for being so kind, Reggie! read more

This is a fun but rough course. A lot of water at the lakes so just be prepared. Plenty of island greens. Cart girls make rounds on a regular basis so drinks and snacks were available the entire time. There's been maintenance going on with the same whole since we played here months ago so I don't know what's going on with that and be careful if you fall 2 minutes behind, the course marshal will push you into the next team. But other than that, great time! read more

The best thing about this course is the view of NRG Stadium and downtown. Other than that, it's a mediocre course in mediocre shape. The people with whom you deal prior to checking in are unfriendly and surly. The Marshalls and starters are great - engaging and friendly. The course is not in good shape, weeds everywhere and you will lose innumerable balls. Greens are not well tended. Wouldn't play here again. read more

I've never met such rude staff before. I've played here multiple times and they withheld giving a cart to our group (they had multiple carts for other groups). They wouldn't offer a refund and they told us "Sucks to be you, call an uber." I've had much better experiences prior, and I rarely talk poorly about such a nice course. It is an OK course that is not really remarkable in any particular way. I was there for a charity scramble, and I would not go back unless it was on my way to something or the charity tournament is there again next year. The staff is a little surly and terse which is offputting upon arrival - and really at any other point in the round. The course is in fair shape. Pace of play when I was there was fine, but it was a full scramble so not a fair representation of the usual pace. The club's grounds plainly have a "this used to be a landfill" vibe to them, and the amenities in the clubhouse area reflect a sincere, but ultimately misguided, attempt at a nice golf clubhouse. The parking lot, clubhouse, and driving range are all a pretty good hike from each other so it makes hitting some range balls before the round a little more time-intensive than one would usually expect. The parking lot is in the middle, the clubhouse on one side about a half mile away, and the driving range on the other side of the parking lot about 3/4 of a mile, up a noticeable hill. Plan for 10-15 extra minutes for arrival prior to your round if hitting the range factors into your plan. I would not go out of my way to play there, I would not pay in excess of $100 to play there, I would eat prior to arrival, and I would probably suggest a half dozen other courses that are equidistant or closer to my home in NW Houston. read more

INCONVENIENT.POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Husband and I drove over a hour 1/2 to come here to find out that they don't give out extra carts on the weekends. It doesn't say it on the website either, we found out when he checked in for his round. Check in counter/shop was unhelpful and rude. No upper management was present to help with resolution. For how expensive it is to play here this was ridiculous to not be accommodated or have an apology from the course. Had to ride 3 deep in a golf cart with a stranger for 18 holes!!! read more

Of course, I was there for the unbelievable festival event, although I have to add a little about the scenery here, the skyline of Houston in the background, the beautiful ponds and please don't overlook the green. We played in a charity golf tournament at this golf course and let me just say top-notch. Staff was amazing. Course was very very clean. Golf carts were incredible. The electronics in the golf carts that showed how far you were from the green. Every bit of that was phenomenal food after the event was great. The entire day was absolutely perfect. read more

Used to really enjoy this club. Played again here for the first time in 10 years. The course condition is in very good shape, even if the greens were a little furry and slow, they still rolled pretty true. The service in the clubhouse bar/restaurant was stellar. I loved the lady helping me get my food order and drinks for the course. Super friendly and puts a smile on your face. Why the low rating though? The pace of play was SLOW. We were stuck behind a molasses-like foursome for the entire round. I understand they were a little olde with their wives, but being so, one should know better and let faster groups play through or to pick up the pace. The low stars come into effect since the Marshall's did NOTHING to help. Not only was the starter the grumpiest dude I've met in a while, we passed up other Marshall's on the course who were too busy listening to tunes and surfing their phones instead of helping to monitor and speed up the pace of play. When i was done with golf that day(Monday Oct 9) i myself pulled the golf cart into the return area where only the staff could get to it. The return area is far away from club house and i pulled it up into the cart return area. I did not just leave it near the cart return i pulled it up into the area. Also i called pro shop gave a full description(blue/white Blue Tees range finder with leather magnet strap wrapped around it) and was told sorry didn't get turned in another golfer must have swiped it. Excellent views of the city throughout the course. We played during their twilight rate to escape the heat. We played the Lakes Course and it was in great condition and had some very unique holes. As visitors from out of town, we rented clubs and they were good quality for rentals (Taylormade driver, 3-wood, 3-hybrid, PW-4 iron, and putter). Marcus in the Pro-Shop was extremely helpful and got us all organized for our round. Beautiful Texas sunset towards the end of our round so I would recommend the Twlight rate just for that sunset. read more

Our outing was AMAZING! From the beginning meetings, during the planning stages, through the day of the event. Nick and his staff went over and above to tend to every detail inside and out on the course. The facility was clean and well maintained, the staff was friendly and very helpful. One of the golfers was so impressed that he booked Wildcat Gulf Club for his outing this September. Side note - the temperature was 118 on the day of our outing, Nick was proactive in making sure we had plenty of cold bottled water for the golfers. If you are looking for an outstanding course to hold your outing or just a friendly round of golf, Wildcat Golf Club should be your first choice. read more

Course is nice but plan on at least 5 hours on the weekend, was there Sunday (8/13), 9:15 tee time, group in front of us is a 5 some. I asked in the pro shop if they allowed 5 somes and they said absolutely not, I said there is a 5 some teeing off right now, answer was "that's a friend of the owner, nothing we can do". In town visiting family and played a round on the Lakeside course with my son-in-law. Numerous water hazards and a few forced carries on this one, but it's not beyond a mid-handicap challenge and was fun to play with great views! Highly recommended. The staff here was excellent, friendly and helpful. The only downer, but not worth a start deduction, is the lack of rental clubs for lefty golfers like myself. I played with a set of Strata (super budget Callaway) with a 12* driver and 4 & 5 iron replacement hybrids all with extreme offset. Righties have choices, so next time I'll bring my own clubs when I visit. read more

Gorgeous golf course built on an old landfill over looking the Houston skyline. Featuring 2 18's for you to pick your poison. The official Golf course of Texans, Astros, Rockets... It is a gimmicky course featuring target shots(Read: people that knows the course) rather than more traditional experience managed approaches. Not long but full of hazards and blind shots. Highlands: A very odd layout trick golf shot course. Black: 6954 Gold: 6549 Blue: 6116 White: 5617 Green: 5005 Lakes: More traditional with lots of hazards. Black: 7016 Gold: 6535 Blue: 6045 White: 5482 Green: 4906 The elevation and the views from the top of the hills takes you to the rolling hills of a British lands. This is just an excellent break from the flat golf courses in the Houston area. But watch out, high rough, long forced carry, blind shots are all part of this fantastic experience. This is a very nice course for the skilled golfer. To any hackers it's the donation spot for lost golf balls, but with no worries about hitting houses. So find a course guide or go with someone that knows the course, and dont be afraid to bust it on those blind shots. Bring your A game, enjoy the view and bring extra balls. read more

Coach Odell "Big O" has been giving me private lessons at Wildcat for a few months now. He has turned me from a 100+ player to a higher 80s to low 90's consistent player in a matter of months. His passion for the game, PGA Pro knowledge, and communication skills really make him an effective coach. Coach O will actively engages his students through communication and understanding where you feel comfortable on the course without the pressure or fear of messing up a shot. He will also help you through club fittings and recommend options based on your skills level. I would highly recommend anyone who is new to the game or a mid to lower handicapper see him for lessons. I could barely swing the club without slicing the ball at the beginning, now I have a lot more confidence in my game due to his coaching and I started hitting the ball straighter. I am now on a path to lower score cards which I never thought was possible. Ask for "Big O" at the front desk for lessons. read more

This course is a joke. They charge $100 for a round that is going to take a minimum of 5 hours (made the turn in 2 hours and 45 minutes) and they make you book through golf now which adds fees. They need to turn this place back into the dump that it was before. read more

Holiday Luncheon Meeting for 150. The venue and catering were ideal for our group. The staff was professional, friendly and accommodating. Our guest ranged in age and the manager arranged shuttle transportation from the free parking lot to the front door. Valet was also available. The food options were plentiful. In planning the manager (Nick), provided many options ranging in price and dietary options. There was more than enough food and everything was well coordinated with our meeting schedule and tasted great. The members were extremely pleased with the venue, service, and staff. Wildcat Golf Club is one of Houston's best keep secrets located conveniently in the inner city. I highly recommend them for any meeting, reception, or event requiring meeting space and catering. read more

By far the best golf course and layout in Houston. Natural undulation, very creative hole designs, and great fairways, greens and scenery for anyone looking to improve their game or have an event. Most holes, including driving range, have a beautiful view of the skyline, some of the entire skyline from Downtown to Galleria, and the practice area is by far the best in the city (the only one that comes close is Golf Club of Houston where the PGA Tour plays, but you have to drive to Humble for that). I used to switch between Wildcat and Memorial Park, but the greens out here are superior to any others around, which helps me practice putting. Wildcat is in a nice place to play golf; as all the reviews above state, there are many blind drives, but some of the approaches to the pin are very doableand interesting, even for a beginner-amateur like myself. The service was absolutely horrendous though. I threw a bachelor party for my best friend for a party of 6. It was overcast, cold, and drizzling intermittently throughout the afternoon, so there was practically nobody on the course. The starter on hole one very condescendingly told us "there better be no fivesomes or sixsomes." So we tried to stay in a groups of 4 and 2. When the party of 2 in the back happened to catch up to the group of 4 on hole 3, same man came up and literally asked us "what did I tell y'all? If I catch you together again I will have you removed from the course." After calling the golf shop, was given the same rhetoric. I respect the rule, and understand the need to follow it, but one, the way we were talked to as if we were children is simply unacceptable, and two, there were definitely no more than 4 groups on that 18-hole course during the afternoon. We let the two groups behind us play ahead, and saw nobody waiting for us the entire day. The man eventually came back and apologized,saying he didn't know that some of our party were early beginners in golf, but it's this sort of caustic and snooty attitude that makes the sport so inaccessible and unrelatable to many. I understand why there are always Livingsocial and Groupon deals for this place now. The course is very difficult and the classes are always booked. I've only played the Highland course, which is the more popular one and it's been by far the hardest course I've played in the about 10 different places I've been to. It cost quite a bit to play here then I lose more money with all the balls I go through. There are almost no holes that are open with no hazards right off the tee box to clear. So good things about the course is that its close to town and has a great view of the city while you're playing. Course is kept well and consistent. Nice place to try but I see why it's hard to get people to play here. Be nice to get a lesson in but gotta book 2 weeks in advance to get a spot. Probably play out my deal and never come back... or until I become awesome read more

I was impressed with this place! There has been this drought in Houston and even with the lack of rain and super hot heat, the course was in great condition. When I see a course in condition like that, I get happy. There is one restroom on the course, you pass it twice during your game of 18 holes and that is two more times then needed for me, but as for my sister and those I was with, it was perfect. I like the way the course is played, I enjoy a challenge and there are a few holes where you have to read the map just to know where the green is. Also if you mess up on a shot, you might be behind a hill or a few other interesting obstacles. All in all, I love the difficultly level some of these holes played and while playing on the near back tees, it made for some fun play. The few things I did not enjoy so much was this super super short par 3 that was about 139 yards I believe and also how the cart lady only came around 3 times during 18 holes. I like to drink, eat and drink again while playing around and I like my waters, gatorades and beers cold and I cant get it cold while the lady is only coming around 3 times. That was not that big of a deal for me though, because they do provide a cooler. This course also has a very nice club house with some good food. I don't know if the reason for the food being so good was because I played golf all day, but I must say it was very tasty and their fries are great! This is a great course to play and gives you a fun day out golfing, the driving range is perfect and the practice putting green is right on par with how the course greens actually play. Very consistent greens speed on each hole I must add. read more

I purchased the Groupon for Wildcat which is a GREAT deal. It seems to always be running on the deal sites, so check it out! You get 8 rounds and 10 lessons for $189. The course is nice, but not sure I would pay full price for it. The lessons do book out pretty far in advance, but you just have to keep an eye on the calendar and plan ahead. The classes are for 10, but there are always no shows and during my lessons there were never more than 5 or 6 people. The personal attention is limited, but all the instructors were great and the lessons were really helpful. I am pretty much a beginner and the Lakes course is more manageable for me. Still plan on losing some balls even if you are a decent golfer! The clubhouse has good food and we always have a great time here. I definitely recommend checking out Wildcat, especially if you get the Groupon. read more

I dropped into town for a wedding, so I happened to get a chance to play at this couse. I was excited when I looked at their website over the course. This course unfortunately turned out to be somewhat disappointing to my expectations, but I will focus on the positives. There are two 18 hole layouts: Highlands and Lakes Highlands plays longer, but I did not play that course that day. Lakes plays shorter, and as the name implies, water comes into play on roughly half the holes. Both courses are very challenging. Course management is key. I was playing with my friend's starter set, so my weapons were limited (still shot my average, so it wasn't all that bad.) and laying up is required in several tight areas on the golf course. There are lots of split fairways and areas where you have to carry over water, or brush, or both. Elevation changes are minimal, but there are a few holes where that does come into play. The course at the time of this review is under winter conditions. Greens were fast and the grass was short. The rough and fringe around the greens are short enough to use a putter or a wood to chip onto the green. I can't explain this, but the sky was overcast, I don't believe it had been raining, but the course was wet just about everywhere. It did not look like there was overwatering, but there was a lot of moisture on all the tee boxes and fairways. The clubhouse is nice. There is not a separate locker room or bathroom facility. You have to go inside to the bar to order food at the turn. The bar is well equipped with several beers on tap, several tvs, and overlooks the 18th green. The food was pretty good as well. The hamburger patty was store bought, but it was bigger and thicker than the average sized burger I've had (not sure if this is a Texas thing). I paired the meal with onion rings. Nicely cut and crispy and not super greasy. I washed it down with a frosty cold mug of cold beer. Great way to finish a tough round. Green fees here (I've been told) are higher than average for a course in Houston. But, in my research, it seems like Wildcat is on average with non-municipal daily fee courses in the area. read more
