Since her new company (Beam Suntory) is located in Deerfield, I went to Yelp to find a florist that would deliver. I made a few phone calls before deciding to go with Swanson's. And even though I typically call and order on the phone when ordering flowers, I went with ordering online this time... I'm pleased to say that the online ordering was easy, the special instructions I had were to deliver it in the morning, and despite no human interaction, this worked out just fine. The arrangement arrived looking beautiful (see the pic my sis texted me and I posted on Yelp), and I even had a confirmation email once the arrangement was delivered. Five stars for Swanson's Blossoms; They are a bit pricey, but from my experience, it seems you get what you pay for. My mother-in-law (can you tell by now she was REALLY involved in our wedding planning?) has been going to Swanson's Blossom shop forever. So of course, they did our wedding flowers. Michael, her florist, is truly an artist. You can tell he's the kind of person who gets inspired and creates. My MIL agrees with the previous review that you need to be explicit about what you want. My MIL went through a few test-centerpieces before arriving at one she liked. From my perspective at the wedding, everything was visually spectacular. The centerpieces were three different heights and lit from inside with LED lights. For the boutonnieres, I asked Michael if he could do something with blue thistle. It just happened to be in the shop immediately to the left of the chair I was sitting in. He whipped something up, and it was just perfect on the first try. My bouquet took a second try (we did a test run a week earlier), but I partly blame myself for that. I originally picked flowers that were too bulky and didn't lay well. When I just told him what shape I wanted, the basic colors, and let Michael pick the best flowers, it was perfect. Michael himself was on site the day of the wedding setting up the tables and the flowers around the ceremony, making sure everything looked amazing. I know he even moved some pieces from the ceremony site to the sweet table (which I never even saw, let alone touched) in the reception area. Swanson's really does aim to please, and some are easier to please than others. But they don't read your mind. I would highly recommend their services. read more

So I went into Swanson's shop today to buy my gf some flowers to be delivered. I ask for an arrangement that has fall colors and some roses I paid $85.00 and she got an arrangement that was small and no roses. I will not buy any flowers from there again and suggest anyone else to see the arrangement before you leave the store... extremely disappointed with the flowers that she received. I order from this place when I can (for local deliveries), and they have been pretty good. I usually have to make sure to be explicit in my requests - down to the last detail. If I want "more daisies than tulips" in the arrangement, I better be sure to say "10 daisies, 7 tulips". The customer service is above-board, however there have been a couple of times when I was told I'd received a return phone call (after asking a question that the arranger didn't know the immediate answer to) and I've had to call them back because they've forgotten to call me. The prices are pretty competitive, but I think the quality is above average as well. Only one time did I receive a bouquet from them that showed signs of dying within 2 days of delivery. When I called to complain, my husband was issued an immediate and full refund - no hassle at all. Overall a good florist. Just be sure to be completely thorough when placing an order, unless you don't care all that much about design. read more

We have used Swanson's Blossom shop for the past 15 years , for all of my daughters bat mitzvah's and this past Sunday just confirmed why we keep using them as our florist!!! Our oldest daughter just got married on Sunday and we hired Swanson's to do their magic. Michael, their floral designer, transformed the Metropolis Ballroom with it's big soaring vaulted ceiling and vast open space to a warm, cozy, and magical setting! My daughter and I met with Michael to discuss what type of floral arrangements, colors, candles, etc.that we wanted and he took it from there. He understood exactly the mood and setting we wanted and he didn't disappoint!! Using different shades of purple, white and magenta flowers, different size vases, and candles, each table was a unique and breathtaking masterpiece!!! My friends especially loved the floating candles in the vases with submersed orchids and so did I!! The magician (Michael) , had repurposed these flowers from the table for the runner that lead to the chuppah. The runner was sprinkled with soft pink rose petals and lined with floating candles and flowers. He also used the flowers to decorate the chuppah and either end of the walkway. From the bouquets, to the chuppah, tables and wedding cake, it was all BEAUTIFUL!! This family owned local business was easy to work with and very accommodating! It was my daughter's 21st birthday today. I decided on a whim to "see" if I might be able to have a bouquet sent to her at school- Trinity International University. I called this florist at 10am California time expecting to be told it couldn't be done on such short notice. This is my second Yelp review and my first bad internet review of any business, ever. I chose this florist based on positive Yelp reviews. I called Swansons from NY to inquire about a same-day delivery in the Deerfield area. The woman who answered my call was extremely pleasant and accommodating, but she needed to have her manager call me back with a price quote, which was not a problem. She gets five stars. Michael called back in short order and quoted a price that was much higher than I anticipated (and was unable to pay), but IN NO WAY did I think that his quote was unreasonable, and said so more than once. I asked if there were other rose options available besides the variety he had quoted. He immediately became defensive, demanded to know what I DID expect to pay, and cited all of the various price drivers for roses in May. All very fair points, but delivered with such disdain and contempt that I quickly concluded the call with no purchase. He gets no stars. I had every intention of ordering something besides my original rose request (which he didn't even suggest), but not after being treated so poorly. read more

They did a fantastic job of listening to us and creating floral arrangements that reflected what we'd asked for. I recently purchased my wedding flowers from Swanson's Blossom Shop and couldn't have been more pleased with both their creations and their reasonable pricing. I had contacted a couple of other well-reviewed florists who, for whatever their reasons, decided not to follow up with me. Too busy perhaps, or perhaps my intended budget wasn't big enough. Feeling somewhat wary of being ignored after these snubs, I walked in to Swanson's, a local establishment, and briefly met with Renee, who arranged a time for us to meet and talk over what was needed. And that was the start of an enjoyable and satisfying collaboration. Apparently I had finally found the right people! I had an energetic and fun discussion with Michael Hosman, floral designer, who listened very carefully as I expressed my wishes for specific colors, varying textures and for my flowers not to look like traditional wedding flowers. Michael was great to work with because, although he is a designer and artist himself, he respected the fact that I am a graphic designer with a very particular vision of how the flowers would fit into the overall visual plan. He was patient in letting me make suggestions and ask questions, and he was creative in offering alternatives and trying things out until we arrived at a floral design that we both thought would work great. I left the meeting feeling confident that Michael knew what I was going for and could make it happen. The flowers that arrived on the wedding day were exactly as I had hoped they'd be. Truly gorgeous, creatively combined and vibrant, very textural and lovely. It was obvious that Michael had really taken my input to heart and done his very best to make the flowers match my vision. I SO appreciate that, and I'd recommend Swanson's Blossom Shop to any person considering flowers for their wedding, whether they have clear ideas of what they want, or whether they need guidance in arriving at the right thing. Ordered a bouquet for my mother's 65 birthday and was disapointed. Because I am out of town I had to place order over the phone and was specific on the types of flowers I wanted in the arrangment, however upon receiving a picture of the bouquet that was delivered it was very odd looking. The tulips I wanted in the bouquet stuck out 5-6 inches higher so they looked weird. Also, even though they are only 2 or 3 doors down from where the bouquet was delivered they charged me a delivery fee which is ridiculous! It took a whole 5 minutes to walk on the sidewalk practically next door. I order a bouquet for my mom for her birthday practically every year and I think I will look for another florist based on this last experience. The sadest part of it all is my mother is a controller of a church and orders a ton of flowers from this shop. You would think with the amount of business they have received from her alone they would have made her bouquet spectacular and my experience flawless!! read more
