This is so good. One of if not the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. The customer service and was excellent providing stuff that we needed and it was quick. The restaurant is very clean, calm, peaceful, and welcoming. Last thing. we got 1 big tub a lamb biryani. It feed the 3 of us with plenty of extra to go. The food was a little spicy but it was flavorful spicy not just pepper spicy. So if you are in the north side of Atlanta come catch out this hidden Indian food gem

    My favorite dish, "UPMA"

I'm not sure why Swapna has a rating of 3.5! This place has been my favorite Indian spot for 13yrs or more now. I will travel all the way from Druid hills to visit them. The food is always amazing, and they know how much I love upma, that if it's not on the buffet they'll make me a little dish. Absolutely love it here. Yal deserve 15 stars!! Service is always fast and friendly!

I'm genuinely befuddled by some of the sour reviews here, and so glad I didn't allow them to keep me from stepping into Swapna for the first time a few months ago when a craving for Indian food hit. My go-to order at an Indian restaurant is a chana masala, but I was intrigued by a chana palak they had on the menu. If I described it as the same chickpea curry with the addition of spinach, I fear my food ignorance might show its truest colors, but that's exactly what this dish tasted like...in the BEST of ways. The spice level was spot on and it was so cozy and warming, especially with the proffered rice. Entrees can be ordered as a thali, which seems to be a slightly smaller serving than the entree (I maintain the rights to be wrong on that point), but there's a whole load of fun sauces and sides that come with your entree for that slight downside. Speaking of downsides, I'm a sucker for samosas, and I was a little disappointed by the size of Swapna's samosas. When it comes to these fried fritters, I tend to believe bigger is better, but these were so tiny that my husband and I both felt these were not worth the ticket price. That aside, the service was prompt and polite, and we loved getting to try an Indian beer alongside our meal. Because of that first visit, Swapna has become my go-to for Indian food in the Atlanta area, and that amazing chana palak is the dish I think of whenever someone suggests Indian for dinner.

I have been waiting for the buffet to come back because I like the fact that you can try everything and figure out your favorites. Well, it won't be back for a while according to the owner. We did decide to try what they had to offer since we were already there and if you know what you like then a regular entree is just as good. First, I just want to say that after going there for so many years during lunchtime, I never got the chance to know the owner or staff because they would just fly by because the place would always be packed but during this time I got to talk to them and they are all really nice. The service was great and attententive from everyone there. They will give you a menu and on the menu are two options for A La Carte and Thali. A La Carte is the meat, rice and bread, Thali is the entree with small sides, it includes soup, sides and dessert, your not able to choose the soup, sides or dessert, so don't worry about having to make that decision. It's definitely worth giving it a try if you know what your favorite entree is. The staff is masked.

Ok... this place has a 3.5 star rating which was the lowest near our hotel ... I'd probably give it a 3.75. First, they didn't ask us what spice level we'd like, so, I guess there's just a default level for everything. The butter chicken was kinda bland - 3 stars - which is usually my go to at Indian places (I get it, I'm boring). Chicken 65 was good but not amazing - 3.5 stars. Service 3 stars - friendly but took a while to place our order and get a refill, while they only had 2 other tables active. Naan - 5 STARS - wow - just light and airy and yet flavorful and such a compliment to the rest of the food. Oh, and then my wife got a mutter paneer - 5 stars - just blew me away and I'll probably eat her leftovers in the morning.

    Chicken Korma Thali. Excellent.

Visited twice lately, things have changed. The bad news is there is no buffet. Yeah, the sign says there is, and the staff says it may come back soon, but no dice now. The good news is dishes ordered off the menu are actually better than what used to be on the buffet. Way better. The chicken korma is the best I've ever had. The butter chicken is also great. The appetizer chicken 65 is spicy excellence. Can't go wrong with the vegetable pakora either. So not perfect, but well worth visiting even without the buffet. Other notes: Mixed pickle is good but seems a little tame. Raita seems thin. Friendly service.

The tandoori chicken is so moist. Every where else I've had it it's dry and stringy. This place is delicious.

Ask the Community - Swapna Indian Cuisine

    No buffet yet?

New local rules after the Pandemic killed many buffets. These are local health ordinances and some cities/counties may never allow them back. It's too bad as I loved the Indian buffets but one person could potentially make a large group of people…

    Still no buffet?

As of last Friday, no Buffet. Lunch time crowd was very light. If they aren't closed yet I'm afraid it won't be long. I will miss their lovely, spicey food.

Are they doing the lunch buffet yet?

    No buffet yet.

Is swapna closed..the site says they are open but not available in ubereats or doordarsh. I tried calling up and its going to voicemail. Any one can help?

    They're open. Seems like a ghost town...but open. 12/2/2021.

Is Swapna open? I tried calling recently and haven't been able to get a response and there's nothing on their website.

I don't think they are open yet either.

The restaurant itself is pretty big, with a separate bar area and another section that works well for larger parties. It felt comfortable and lively, and there was plenty of space for everyone. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to start: green chilli chicken, chicken tikka, malai chicken tikka, paneer tikka, and mutton masala. You have to choose the spice level for the green chilli chicken and mutton. Our first round was ordered mild but it came out quite spicy. The second round was much better after we asked our server to tone it down. Even though the heat was high, the flavors were great. The green chilli chicken is battered and fried, tossed in a bright green chilli sauce and it had a really nice kick. The chicken tikka, malai chicken tikka, and paneer tikka were all soft, juicy, and packed with flavor. For the main dishes we tried the chicken 65 biryani, ghee roast mutton biryani, gongura mutton fry biryani, and dal makhani. I was honestly impressed by how many biryani options they have on the menu. The ghee roast mutton biryani was the clear favorite at our table. The mutton was tender and the rice had a rich buttery aroma from the ghee and spices. The chicken 65 biryani was also great, with crispy fried chicken pieces mixed into the rice. The gongura mutton fry biryani had a tangy flavor from the gongura leaves which made it really unique. The dal makhani was creamy and comforting, and it came with rice so there was already a lot of food on the table. We finished with gulab jamun and rasmalai for dessert, plus coffee and mango lassi. Everything was delicious and there was definitely more than enough food to go around. The food was a hit, but the service was a bit of a miss. Our server rarely checked in and we were told they were understaffed that day. For a large group it would have been nice to get a little more attention. They also use a robot to bring food to the table which was fun at first, but it stopped far away from us so someone still had to grab the dishes and load the empty plates back on it since the table was not being cleared. We also heard they have good cocktails at the bar, but when we asked for specialty drinks we were told the bartender was off that day so only beer and wine were available. Only after asking the owner/manager (who kindly checked in on us midway through the meal) did they make us a spiced lime juice (albeit virgin). Even with the service issues, I would still come back. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the variety of biryani alone makes it worth another visit.

We came here with a large party of friends who had been here previously and highly recommend…read morerecommended the restaurant for Saturday evening dinner. Our party included 11 people. We were seated in their in our private seating area given or large party size. It appeared that they were understaffed that evening. We were informed that they did not have a bartender that night so any mixed cocktails would not be an option. We were offered only wine and beer. We ordered several items from the menu. From the food standpoint this restaurant is fantastic! Almost everything we ordered was delicious. We had the paneer tikka, chicken, tikka, Malai chicken kebabs as well as the green chili chicken and mutton chukka as starters. I loved all the kebabs! For the main course, we tried three different biryanis - chicken 65, gungaro Lam and ghee roast mutton. The ghee roasted mutton was my favorite. We also tried the dal makhani which was delicious. We wrapped our meal with Rasmalai and Gulab jamun. All of my three stars are for the food! What did not work?-The service it may have been an off night for them given that they were understaffed, but it was really subpar. As mentioned we were told they did not have a bartender and initially were informed they could not make lime soda, nonalcoholic drink for us. However, almost towards the end of our meal when we convey this to the manager, the server informed us that now they had the necessary syrup and could provide provider us with the drink. They use the bot to bring out your food however, the bot never quite gets to your table. As a result, one of us had to always get up to get our own meal from the bot. None of the empty dishes were taken off of our table to make space for more despite is ordering large amounts of food. On several occasions. We just put the empty dishes on the bot to take back to the kitchen. We often did not see us over for long length of time. Overall: while the food was great.... The service was a disappointment. If they can improve on that department, this would be a great biryani spot!
