My daughter came to visit and placed an order for delivery. She ordered Butter Chicken & Gobi Manchuria (appetizer). The appetizer was tasty, however the Butter Chicken should be renamed Butter Sauce as there was very little chicken. The chicken was very rubbery. It tasted more like left-overs. This is so good. One of if not the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. The customer service and was excellent providing stuff that we needed and it was quick. I'm genuinely befuddled by some of the sour reviews here, and so glad I didn't allow them to keep me from stepping into Swapna for the first time a few months ago when a craving for Indian food hit. My go-to order at an Indian restaurant is a chana masala, but I was intrigued by a chana palak they had on the menu. If I described it as the same chickpea curry with the addition of spinach, I fear my food ignorance might show its truest colors, but that's exactly what this dish tasted like...in the BEST of ways. The spice level was spot on and it was so cozy and warming, especially with the proffered rice. Entrees can be ordered as a thali, which seems to be a slightly smaller serving than the entree (I maintain the rights to be wrong on that point), but there's a whole load of fun sauces and sides that come with your entree for that slight downside. Speaking of downsides, I'm a sucker for samosas, and I was a little disappointed by the size of Swapna's samosas. When it comes to these fried fritters, I tend to believe bigger is better, but these were so tiny that my husband and I both felt these were not worth the ticket price. That aside, the service was prompt and polite, and we loved getting to try an Indian beer alongside our meal. Had lunch with my family here. Actually my family ate and I watched because all the choices of food available at the buffet were spicy. While I get the food is supposed to be authentic I believe there should be a couple of options for people who cannot have spicy food. If I am not mistaken I have eaten mild butter chicken before. I have been waiting for the buffet to come back because I like the fact that you can try everything and figure out your favorites. Well, it won't be back for a while according to the owner. We did decide to try what they had to offer since we were already there and if you know what you like then a regular entree is just as good. First, I just want to say that after going there for so many years during lunchtime, I never got the chance to know the owner or staff because they would just fly by because the place would always be packed but during this time I got to talk to them and they are all really nice. The service was great and attententive from everyone there. They will give you a menu and on the menu are two options for A La Carte and Thali. A La Carte is the meat, rice and bread, Thali is the entree with small sides, it includes soup, sides and dessert, your not able to choose the soup, sides or dessert, so don't worry about having to make that decision. Ok... this place has a 3.5 star rating which was the lowest near our hotel ... I'd probably give it a 3.75. First, they didn't ask us what spice level we'd like, so, I guess there's just a default level for everything. The butter chicken was kinda bland - 3 stars - which is usually my go to at Indian places (I get it, I'm boring). Chicken 65 was good but not amazing - 3.5 stars. Service 3 stars - friendly but took a while to place our order and get a refill, while they only had 2 other tables active. Naan - 5 STARS - wow - just light and airy and yet flavorful and such a compliment to the rest of the food. The food was delicious, service was good and all the staff were friendly. We ordered the Shrimp Saag (Thali) and the Chicken Tikka Masala (a la carte). Everything had great flavor, and the meat was perfectly tender. The naan bread was soft, with a slightly sweet note. I would guess the cook to be from Northern India, as we ordered medium spice and it was fairly mild. It had a little heat, but didn't overwhelm--perfect. I was party of a large party on a busy Friday and Tyesha (sp?) was on it! We got fast delicious food and spent quality time with friends. The chef (her husband) came out to say hello. So nice to meet the person behind the recipes! We had the Gobi Manchurian, Veggie pekoras (could have had an order per person-- so good!), Chicken Tikka masala, and one of the specialty chicken dishes. I have had chicken Tikka masala before many times. This may be my favorite. A must try! Naan and the thali dishes were perfect. Loved the small sweet cake to finish it all off. My wife and I have been eating at Swapna for over 10 years and there appears to be a change afoot. We believe there is new ownership and efforts are underway to improve the interior of the restaurant. We liked our meal and feel it was as good if not better than our dinning under previous ownership. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Aloo Saag were quite good and the Naan was the best we have had there. While it is a work in progress and there are some kinks that need to be ironed out and the prices have gone up, we will definitely go back. read more

Swapna finally brought back their lunch buffet (Fridays and Saturdays only for now) and I was stoked to go there for lunch today but I was disappointed to say the least. The buffet was not their usual, full offering buffet--very limited options. It was about 75% stocked. Everything I ate was overly spicy to the point where it wasn't enjoyable. They will not allow you to get food from the buffet to go and be weighed to determine the price like they did pre-pandemic. ALSO, the price for the buffet is now $18.86 (an even $20 with tax and water) which is outrageous given the fact the buffet options was very limited compared to the past. Pre-pandemic, the buffet price was somewhere around $13.99 and there were sooooo many good options that it was worth every penny. Not so much anymore. Edited my star rating based on owner's comments. I understand everything has gone up in price but the restaurant is serving far less on the buffet than it did prior and I can only hope they get everything that should be back on the buffet soon because again, $18 is too much for the small amount of items to choose from as of right now. I've been going to Swapna for over 7 years and have had no complaints until now. Also, there is no heat level indicated on the descriptions of items on the buffet. The butter chicken and tandoori chicken is not usually spicy and it was extremely spicy when I visited Friday so there was a difference this time. There are other cheaper Indian restaurants in the Atlanta metro area but they don't come close to tasting as good as Swapna usually does. Hope it gets better...I can only hope the owners take reviews like mine as constructive criticism versus getting offensive. All I ask them to do is please listen to their customers. Ok. Let's start with the positive. SOME of the food was good--not great but good. Some of it was at best mediocre. The "naan" they brought me was just grout tortillas? Ok now onto the real issues. Before COVID, when they did the buffet they were one of my favorites. Since they have gone to table service they are awful. I asked for water to drink. It took over 10 minutes and asking three more times to get some water. When my appetizer came out I asked for some chutneys to go with it. I watched my app get cold waiting and had to ask a different server again when my meal finally showed up. 10 min after the second server brought my chutney, the first server also brought some by. When the entree came out it was good. The bread and other thali items...underwhelming to say the least. The serving size very small, which would have been ok at half the price, but for a $30+ bill I would have expected a lot more from the food and the service. I get the pandemic has made things tough and typically give people/restaurants some leeway as such, but really?... I would maybe go back if they get the lunch buffet back up, but if you are expecting some form of service skip it. read more

It's totally outrageous!! A few pieces of dried out naan and hardened Idlis that seemed microwaved. Was told the Sunday lunch buffet is $22 because of goat/lamb. If one is a vegetarian why would anyone want to pay so much for a cold mediocre meal with a few vegetarian dishes? At Most Indian restaurants the Sambhar usually tastes good and one can't go wrong with it. On this day even the Sambar didn't taste anywhere close it. This is our last time going to Swapna!!! Food was okay. I ordered online and when I arrived for pickup they had not put my order in. They apologized but it took a few extra mins. No major problem there. I ordered lamb biryani and as many know this is a rice dish. This dish usually results is a highly aromatic and colorful dish of meat and rice. And this one very much under delivered. The rice was drier than usual and I didn't get that layered froth of aromas or flavor. The lamb was also just okay. I will try other dishes since Indian cuisine is by far my favorite but at first strike I'm on the fence with this place. This is the best Indian buffet in Cobb County according to the Indian couple at our church. I discovered that I can, and now do, enjoy some Indian cuisine. The buffet is plentiful and tasty. Last week, when we had lunch there, the surprise win for me was the sliced and battered eggplant. That was one of the tastiest ways I have ever seen eggplant served. Additionally, were goat and several chicken options along with many vegetarian dishes. The $12.99 price for lunch was very reasonable. In the past I have eaten here a few times and their food has always been good, but it has been a while until recently. This past Monday, we decided to order some food for takeout and called ahead for pickup, as we just came back from a vacation and I was craving for some spinach saag with lamb, here it is just called Spinach and Lamb. I called to place my order; all that was ordered was one order of spinach and lamb with a mild temperature of spiciness and 2 orders of Naan bread. When I arrived to pick it up the food at the front there were 2 orders of Navratan Korma and 1 order of Spinach with lamb. Somehow the guy thought I asked for two orders of Navratan Korma (instead of the naan) and to be completely honest, before this occurrence I never even heard of this dish. After debating about it for 3-4 minutes, the guy did not want to take it off, and we were starving, so what should have been a $15 order turned out to be a $44 order. I figured, the heck with it, we can try something new and have leftovers for the following days lunch and dinner. The Spinach with lamb was good as always and it turned out that the Navratan Korma was excellent too. However, neither was mild. They were more of a 7/10 than a 3/10 on a hotness scale, so we just drank a lot of water while eating. If you come here, make sure you do not ask simple yes or no questions, like is this mild, is this good? Does this come with this? Everything will be given a yes response, so make sure you ask specific questions that require more than a yes or no response. My star rating is based off of this. Minus 1 star for not getting what I asked for and then not removing it and minus another star for saying food was mild, when clearly it was nowhere near it. However, food was good, so I will add 3 stars, although the portion sizes for Togo orders could be a bit more, each entrée dish is about 14 ounces, but does come with some naan. You can find Swapna Indian Cuisine on 2655 Cobb Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30339 - this location is near the intersection of Spring St where it dives into Cobb Pkwy, about half way between Spring St and Cumberland Blvd. There's ample parking front, side and behind, even during the very busy lunch. The inside isn't much to to look at, but it is spacious and can provide seating for rather large parties. I haven't eaten here at night, only enjoying the buffet - but what a buffet. There are several islands of steam-tables full of delicious Indian cuisine, including many vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. I've eaten here about a half-dozen times as it's very accessible from I285/I75 so it's a natural gathering location for me and my coworkers. The food here is above average in spice level (not heat, but ingredients like coriander, cumin and the like), at least for Atlanta. For this corner of Atlanta I believe it to be one of the better Indian buffet options (the best are over at the Patel Bros or up in Alpharetta). Prices here are average - around $10-12 per person which seems to be the going rate - the buffet offers more options than most I've experienced in Atlanta. I like the naans here, they do them right. The staff here is almost non-existent but very responsive if you need a water refill - you'll need to flag someone down. As already mentioned, it gets extremely busy for lunch so be prepared and get what's available from the buffet when you see something you like. read more
