The Shop Topeka is a Cross-Fit style gym that empasizes results instead of looks like most common…read moregyms. The Shop's exercises are comprised of group workouts. The Shop's dynamic group workouts emphasize mobility and body control, whipping lethargic muscles into shape without the crowded mechanical mishmash of big gyms. Small groups of 4-12 range in age and abilities but unite under a common flag of functional fitness, employing a slew of sandbags, free weights, and other forms of forceful resistance to usurp despotic fat cells. All classes are led by certified CrossFit trainers, whose battle-tested ethos shines through in a swiftly alternating, circuit-style workout format that shuns routine for a diverse range of movements including lifting, sprinting, jumping, dragging, throwing, and scuttling. These high-speed workouts are designed to accommodate military personnel, police officers, firefighters, and all professions who often work under stress and fatigue, emboldening participants to bulldoze mental blockades and drink from untapped sources of personal endurance. Ambitious athletes can master their muscles in up to five classes each week, selecting from the multiple class days and times on The Shop's schedule, with one-hour workouts typically beginning in the early morning and evening. A 2,400-square-foot complex capably houses most workouts, though trainers also arrange weekly programs of trail running, hill sprints, biking, and baby-elephant shot putting around the Topeka area. If you want the treadmills and mirrors, this isn't the place for you. If you want to feel better than you have ever felt and look better in your swimsuit this might be your place. Unmotivated people need not apply.

Everyone in The Shop was very welcoming and helpful despite my inexperience. From the coach to the participants, it couldn't have been a more pleasant experience, well other than the kickass workouts. I can easily see that this gym works for everyone from beginner to fitness freak. The Shop is the real deal. I plan on attending again, the next time I am in the area.

When it was time to move on, I put in my 30 days notice (Which by the way, they make it very hard to cancel because you have to get in contact with the manager, which she took over a week to get back to me, before you can even start your thirty day notice), yet when the 30 days were up, they continued to charge me and the manager refused to return my calls. I had to show up to a time she taught just to get any communication. I then had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Suprise, Suprise, the company then sent the exit contract but conveniently left out the page stipulating the date that I was no longer contractually obligated to pay. I had to then send the full contract to my credit card company, and then it was final resolved. This took me three months to get resolved. The manager switched every few months which is the real problem (I had at least four mangers over my time). It's a shame because the coaches are very nice. I would not recommend this experience and will not be returning to any f45 again.
