Iron Legacy is exactly what I want in a gym when I'm traveling…read more I trained here Friday and came back again today because the place is that damn good. This is an old-school iron paradise. Great equipment, heavy dumbbells, awesome plate-loaded machines, and zero bullshit. Just a legit gym built for people who actually like to train. The atmosphere is exactly what a hardcore gym should feel like. Nothing flashy or gimmicky. Just iron, good equipment, and the kind of place that makes you want to stay longer and train harder. I've trained at a lot of gyms while traveling and Iron Legacy is absolutely one I'd come back to every time I'm in Myrtle Beach. If you lift and you're in the area, this is where you want to go.

Then Crunch charged me on 8/23. I emailed on 8/24 asking to CANCEL, and somehow I'm being told I still have to pay AGAIN on 9/23. And apparently, to cancel, I have to physically come in, sign paperwork, AND pay the 9/23 charge on the spot. Seriously??? Every single question gets the same answer: "It's our policy." Everything is policy. Charge you? Policy. Won't refund you? Policy. Want to cancel? Come in person. Policy. Want to stop the NEXT charge? Nope--you still have to pay it. Policy. Amazon, LinkedIn, and countless other major companies let people cancel memberships online, and many will even refund the current billing period depending on the situation. Crunch Fitness somehow manages to make cancellation as difficult as possible AND demands another month of payment after you've already told them you want to cancel. At this point, it feels like the "policy" exists to make sure Crunch can squeeze one last payment out of you before letting you leave. If someone says "I WANT TO CANCEL," why are you charging them again a MONTH LATER? Absolutely insane. I've never seen a company work this hard to collect one extra month of membership fees. If you're considering joining Crunch Fitness, READ THE CANCELLATION POLICY FIRST. Apparently, joining is much easier than escaping.

I have been very disappointed with our experience at the YMCA summer camp. Over the course of the…read moresummer, there have been multiple incidents involving my child that have left me questioning whether the staff is properly trained to work with children, especially when behaviors or conflicts arise. Many of the counselors appear to be very young. While I understand everyone has to start somewhere, they often seem unequipped to handle difficult situations appropriately. Instead of using incidents as opportunities to teach and redirect children, it often feels like the first response is suspension or removal from activities rather than understanding what happened and helping the child learn from the situation. One of my biggest concerns is that issues involving one child have sometimes resulted in my other child being pulled into the situation, even when they were not directly involved. Each child should be treated as an individual,not by association. I was also told that staff laughed during a serious situation involving my child. While I did not personally witness this, hearing that from my child was very concerning. If accurate, I would expect situations involving children's behavior or safety to be handled with professionalism and respect. Communication with parents has also been frustrating. Rather than working together to understand the circumstances and develop solutions, it has often felt like discipline is the default response. Children make mistakes, and camp should be a place where they are taught, guided, and supported, not just punished. I understand that working with children is not easy, but parents trust the YMCA to provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. I hope the YMCA invests more in training its counselors on child development, behavior management, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and professional communication. My goal in sharing this review is not to criticize individual staff members but to encourage improvements that will benefit all children and families.

I don't need a pretty set of weights to lift. The down side is the cafe is never open when I'm there. I work early morning from 5 to 7ish and it would be nice to sit down and have a cup of coffee and chill out. It does get hot inside during the summer and cold in the winter. This doesn't matter to me but I'm sure many want climate control as comfortable as possible. I like this gym because it's no nonsense.
