Best gym in Myrtle beach, I wish the hours were open later and wish they would put a top floor in !

I was on vacation here for a week and was looking for a place to work out and this was the answer. They have daily rates as well as as weekly rates. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The gym itself has a very old school feel. There are a lot of free weight machines with some unique exercises that you don't see often. It is small but the gym is a great place to work out. It is no frills, no gimmicks but has everything you need to get a great workout in. If you are in town and are a serious lifter, I highly recommend this one. read more

I was on vacation in Myrtle Beach looking for a gym with a daily rate. This place popped up on my google search. It's an old school gym , lots of iron weights , plenty of machines and benches to go around . They have a nice cardio section and a large room for classes. The owner was a pro body builder. Overall , I thought this place was a great! Only $ 10 / daily rate to work out . Most of the members appeared to be in good shape . Owners were friendly. Also the gym dog was cool ! This gym does the job. What I mean is that it's very no-frills, old building (like many others in this part of Myrtle Beach) and the equipment is very close together. But, that being said, there is a TON of equipment, everything works and the drop-in prices are the best that I've found. Hard to beat $25 unlimited for a week. Loved it! We visited while we stayed in Myrtle Beach. This was a great lifting gym and had a wide array of equipment! The owners were extremely friendly and had lots of cleaning supplies to keep the facility clean. We will be back when we come back down for the July 4th weekend. read more

My husband and I came to workout here on a traveling pass from another Golds Gym, which are all individually owned. We were not given a tour of equipment but that wasn't really necessary. The check in process was relatively easy and quick. Pros; we got in on the traveling pass and didn't have to pay for entry. Also, they days the gym is 24 hours, it's staffed at all times. They have a nice full size mirror in the bathrooms *gym selfie time* Cons; this gym is tiny! There is nothing to wipe down machines with (ew). The lighting was not flattering, but that is obviously not a deal breaker. I couldn't find any clips because apparently they are kept at the front, the staff was helpful and gave me a pair. I'm not sure if we would return here, I supposed if our hotel was close we would, but we are indifferent otherwise. read more

Came here a summer or so back and did a week trial period. It's been some time, but I remember the staff was very accommodating. The gym wasn't very big. One a couple machines of each kind. 2 stair masters, 2 smith machines, 2 benches for bench press, etc. the weight section was always packed. Lots of people trying to workout in a small space. They had a small wall of 'golds gym' apparel you could purchase. The bathrooms were clean. Small though, only two stalls in the women's bathroom, and I don't recall seeing a changing area. I gave two stars because it was always so crammed; the stretch room was hardly a stretch room - like a 6' by 6' tiny room. 3 of us could barely fit to stretch. I could never get to the weights. Most of the machines were taken. It was tough to get a real work out in. Besides, for someone starting their fitness journey, I felt intimidated to even join. So many people staring you down as you try to get in shape. Who wants that? So I went else where for a membership. I do appreciate the week trial, though! read more

This gym is classic, old-school, small yet quaint. I am impressed with the amount of equipment they have available in the space they have. The staff seems friendly and the local regulars all know each other, similar to my local Gold's. I was so happy that this location was close to my vacation spot, friendly, accepted my pass without issues, and welcomed me to work out at their gym. I can't express how much I loved it in here. From the moment you walk in, everyone is *nice* and super *friendly*! (I put asterisks to emphasize the two words). I was in such shock to meet such nice people in here. My boyfriend and I were on vacation in Myrtle Beach and needed a place to train - this was our jackpot. Yes, it's small but it has everything you need to get a great work out. And when you have that, the size shouldn't matter. I still can't get over how nice people are. I highly recommend this place. It's a meathead gym but all in all the good ways. Old school equipment kept very well organized. While on vacation I wanted to go to a gym and of course a Golds Gym was what I was looking for. What a great place to go to with rich history! Good thing about this place is that it's an old-school spit and sawdust type gym, with friendly staff and good local community vibe. It's a little cramped though. Everything (equipment) seems to be right on top of each other, leaving little space to move around freely. Biggest negative is that they have only one squat rack and it's oddly put together, making it difficult if you want to do lunges. I saw that they had jiu jitsu in the back classroom and the instructor's awards were on display before you walk in. I've never seen that before. The cardio area was set up the same, making every use of the little space they have. They had a little coffee/juice/protein shake bar in the front. It looked like they were making a profit by the repeat customers ordering from it. I had no problem using my travel pass here like some places. I'll definitely make use of this place while I'm here. read more

When you think about the rich history that's tied to Gold's Gym, this location is what would come to mind. It is like a mecca. They had tons of pictures and autographs from former bodybuilders/celebs and trophies all over the place....very cool. This is an old school gym with old school equipment and I like it. It is nothing like my local Golds location which has tons of modern equipment and much bigger. This location is pretty small, but has all of the necessities you need in a gym to get a good workout in. One of the biggest highlights has to be the set of old school dumbbells....they are classic and awesome. The people that were working out the day I went were either much older (but in shape) or people in exceptional shape. Their cardio section is tiny and you could walk right pass it and not even realize it. There's probably no more than a total of 20 cardio machines, but who goes to Gold's to be a cardio bunny, right? It was a treat to be able to use my travel pass and work out at this location and if ever I'm back in town, I will not hesitate to come back. I usually don't take the time to write reviews but I couldn't resist sharing my experience at this gym! I vacationed in Myrtle Beach this year and was searching for a serious gym to work out (as you probably already know, hotels/resort gyms are a joke). If you are looking for the most high tech and modern equipments, this is not your spot. However, if you appreciate the original old school, pumping iron equipments then you need to check it out. The space is a bit tight but they did a nice job making it work. Cleanest gym bathrooms I've ever seen (newly remodeled). The owners Ted and Nancy Capp, along with their kids made me feel super welcome. Ted is a former pro bodybuilder and even showed me a pic of him and Arnold Schwarzenegger and other famous bodybuilders back in the days when they competed. After your workout, you can go to the counter and have the staff blend you a nice protein shake. Highly recommended if you ever visit the Myrtle beach area! read more

Myrtle Beach Gold's Gym is undeniably a legit spot to workout. You'll discover the utmost dedicated and steadfast lifters here--yes, most of them dudes, but hey, I survived the piercing eyes. My fiancé and I frequent this Gym when he has to travel for work from Baltimore, Maryland. I like it due to the fact that it has a "real" atmosphere, no fakes or annoying people. These gym patrons are in and out--the get shit done and leave type. If you know that you will be in the area and you don't have the Gold's Gym "hop-around" card than make sure to fill out the V.I.P Pass online prior to your visit. The service reps at the front are tremendously pleasant and will unquestionably let you in for a free trial. read more

The owner is a complete asshole. I came in from a Virginia Gold's and let him know that I didn't have a travel pass, but I have the number to my home gym. He asked me how much I pay monthly and told me that I was lying about having the travel pass option. I explained that I was an Assistant General Manager in the past and I have a grandfathered account that's over 20 years old. He insisted I was lying. After much debate he called and confirmed that my membership was legitimate, offered no apology, and finally begrudgingly let me in (after 20 mins). Wow! In over 20 years as a member, I've never experienced such a poor situation at a Gold's Gym and it's disappointing that it comes from an OWNER! read more

Really cool gym and awesome owner! Was down there last week on family vacation. Purchased a 1 week pass for a nominal fee. Loved the iron weights and 70's/80's feel. On the smaller side but has everything you need. I didn't get the owner's name but she was very welcoming and easy to talk to. Oh man, where do I begin about Golds in Myrtle Beach? First, the buisiness is family ownded and operated, and they couldn't have been nicer to us while we were there. The equipment is a collection of some of the best benches and machines made by Hammer Strength, Body Masters and Atlantis.
