I'm usually not a fan of donuts but my friends really wanted to try this place and I loved it! The chocolate donut was definitely my favorite and the service was good. Right next to the truck me and my friends got to wait with some adorable baby chicks! We were able to watch the sunset from the tables nearby.

If you're in the mood for some warm, tasty treats, this spot is definitely worth checking out. Everything always tastes great and there are a few different options to select from on the menu.

The malasada truck was parked right outside the mall, so had to get some fresh malasadas (Portuguese donuts) for the ALOHA win. They do take Apple Pay.

Leonards famous malasadas in Waipahu. Hot fresh and so good without the lines like Honolulu. Quick mobile truck in outside ambiance

Drove out to get these and it did not disappoint! So warm fluffy and delicious! There was no wait when I went around 930 AM on a Monday! If you have never had these you are missing out. 10/10 for a quick sugary snack.

This particular Leonard's Bakery food truck only takes card (apple pay included). Please be patient because they're taking orders while making your malasadas fresh.

Delicious and open at 8am! Perfect local breakfast stop on our way back from the airport. They fry them fresh after you order. We will be back!

got two boxes of malasadas for a coworkers birthday. We got the regular sugar and the cinnamon sugar. I've always grown up eating the regular sugar so I was a little skeptical about the cinnamon, but it was really good and it's always best fresh, but if there was extra, I just heat it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds for breakfast the next day and it was delicious. Highly recommended.

On our 4 day trip to Hawaii, we had Leonard's a total of 4 times! Nothing beats a hot, fresh malasada with a cup of coffee. This is a MUST HAVE if you are visiting Hawaii, as anything on the mainland could never compare. The service was quick and friendly, and the quality never disappoints. After trying all the flavors, I would most definitely recommend the Cinnamon and the Macadamia Nut Filled, but might as well try them all while you're here!

Leonard's is popular for a reason. The donuts here are fresh and delicious. We tried the coconut and custard flavors, both were really decadent and filling. I think most donuts are best fresh and if you don't have them warm they probably won't be as good, which is where Leonard's shines. They make them fresh, I don't know if there's much to improve.

Leonards is a local fixture for a reason. My bf and I got a half dozen of the following: Coconut Cinnamon Original Custard Macadamia Guava I am not typically someone who will wait in lines but this one is worth the wait. It honestly moves fast too. Do not let the lines or parking deter you. It will be worth it when you are enjoying a nice & warm malasada. Our favorites were the cinnamon and original.

Ask the Community - Leonard's Bakery

Has anyone had experience taking these on a plane? (To Los Angeles) How to store them? Lol Are they even allowed? 🤷🏻‍♀️?

You can carry them on. Not sure how far you are flying them. If really far, a few secs in micro or maybe air fryer to reheat unless you don't mind them cold...

Any special orders to take back home?

Regular and my person fav.. Dobash!

Are there any butter/milk in the Malasadas? Any dairy free options?

Both milk and butter; no dairy-free option. Maybe one of the vegan cafes on island might have something suitable?

I only like fresh. Do they cook them in truck? Or best to go to the main store?

Yes, it's cooked hot and fresh at this location.

We stopped by Nanding's Bakery in Waipahu on a Saturday around 6:15 AM. There was only one other customer inside and plenty of parking, so it was the perfect time to stop in. The moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by the aroma of freshly baked bread -- and suddenly I was transported right back to my childhood. Growing up, bakery runs were a thing in our family. We would go to Kamehameha Bakery and Nanding's in Kalihi, and I remember coming home with two dozen pandesal. It's funny how something as simple as a bag of fresh bread can become such a core childhood memory. Now I get to continue that little tradition with my own family. Our favorites are the Spanish rolls and pandesal, and if there's one thing I recommend -- eat them while they're fresh and warm! The bread is so soft and fluffy, and there's just something about opening that bag/box while everything is still warm that makes it even better. The ladies working that morning were wonderful too. We were greeted right away, and everyone was helpful, efficient, and genuinely sweet. You can feel the love and pride they put into what they make, and that kind of local hospitality makes the experience even more special. Our haul this morning was a box of 18 Spanish rolls + pandesal for $18.17 -- fresh, warm, nostalgic, and plenty to bring home for the family. If you're visiting Oʻahu and want to try a local bakery favorite, Nanding's is definitely worth adding to your list. And if you grew up in Hawaiʻi with fresh pandesal from the bakery... you already know. TIP: Go early! Fresh, warm bread straight from the bakery is the only way to do it.

Just don't look at the bottom of the box after a couple of mins :0 The hours of operation works for me. There's always a line formed right outside before they open at 4:30 on the weekdays. Like I mentioned, they have other baked goods and they all look good. I'm sure they taste just as good as they look, I just can't verify. Overall five stars. Plenty of parking when I'm there at 4:20 am ;p M

Let the efficient workers know if you want something from the display case when it's your turn. It was crowded when I was there, but the line disappeared quickly! This is a popular place because it's neat, clean, and well-stocked with such a variety of choices! I narrowed down my selection to original and ube flavored pianono rolls. Finally, I chose original... it was so buttery, soft, and decadent! I liked the granulated sugar on the outside... it stayed crunchy! Next time, I'll get the ube flavor for comparison... LOL!

I've been here multiple times, and honestly, the service was usually just okay. But this time, our waiter was super friendly and attentive, which really made a difference in the overall experience. The restaurant is nice and clean but heads up they don't have restrooms. They said you actually have to leave and use the food courts next door. Anyways, their food is always excellent. I decided to treat myself to their pork belly breakfast, omg it was so delicious. Though it is a bit pricey, sometimes it's good to treat yourself. Their rolls are excellent as usual, my only complaint their coffee cups are so small. If you're gonna give small cups, please leave the pitcher lol. Now for their bakery, they are known for their coco puffs but they have so much more! Cream puffs, cupcakes, etc. though they are also kind of expensive, i still walked out with a non shameful amount lol.
