    Tasting cookies

The cookies are terrific. Fun local family owned business. We got a tour of the place and heard the story of the founders, the building the new owners. The team did a wonderful job treating us to a fun outing!

    Best cookies ever!

I don't spend money on sweets very often but these cookies r worth every penny! they r so delicious and the dark choclate is super delicious... best money I've ever spent,, would recommend the scotch oatmeal with dark chocolate to everyone!!! 5 stars!

    The menu on 7/3/21.

Nice little shop. Street parking. Fresh. The cookies are soooo fresh. I got the standard oatmeal and the banana oatmeal. First time tryjng the banana. It was good. Not better than the standard oatmeal. I will be back to try the other flavors. Minimal half pound purchase.

St. Louis classic. Hard cookies that come in a variety of flavors, in an old-fashion spot. I am honestly not a huge fan of their cookies, but I am a fan of the store's atmosphere and the company's story. Dad's Cookie Company been run by the same family in the same Dutchtown building since the 1920's (though it did not actually originate there), and the building was actually built by the family as a bakery in 1912. The original cookie they are known for is the Original Scotch Oatmeal. At one time Dad's cookies could be found all over the United States and Canada, however all the other franchises all died out over the years (except the ones in Canada, which were brought by Nabisco). Also sell kettlecorn and other sweets

Dad's is a classic. If you've lived in STL and haven't tried them, they're a staple for sure. Their storefront is a cute, old school and pretty unassuming. Inside, you get the same vibe, but it's a part of the experience. Their cookies get made fresh daily and once cooked, put in large bins. They always have an assortment, but the past couple times I've visited, they've been out of their more popular ones. When you order your box, jar, or set, they open the huge bins and the smell of fresh cookies fills the room. Personally, I love their chocolate chip. It's my favorite ever. If you're in the South City area, you gotta give Dad's a try!

Delicious hometown glory here! Dad's has been a St. Louis staple for decades; flavor never changing. They offer their uniquely renowned butterscotch-oatmeal cookies and MORE. Chocolate dipped, milk chocolate dipped, broken pieces, popcorn, chocolate bars, etc. Service is spectacular. Mrs. Lori is a real jewel and treats customers with TLC. Cookies by the pound. Enjoy!

Got 2 sandwiches for lunch: the smoked pork and the roast beef sandwhich. Still can't decided which one was better because both were DELISH. The focaccia on the smoked pork was sooo soft and fluffy and light, combination of coleslaw with the pork was perfect. I thought there was no way the roast beef could be as good yet once again proven wrong. The challah was perfect and whatever cheese they had with the roast beef sandwhich was perfect. Pro tip: you can ask for the sandwiches to be heated up! As for the desserts: I really wanted a cake sweet treat but my eyes were bigger than my belly could handle. Got the maple pull, chocolate almond croissant , and ham and gruyere croissant. Which I cannot wait to eat tomorrow for breakfast!! Place is busy but moves fast. Side chairs and table to sit along the window.

We stopped by on a whim once I realized how relatively close it was and not in the city. There is only window seating (maybe 6 chairs total) so majority ordered to go The pastry case was a gold mine of treats and various cakes! While my husband and I thought about our order, they got drinks started for us: an iced tea and a vanilla latte. We ended up with: smoked pork sandwich, prosciutto sandwich, caia (vanilla bean mousse cake), a chocolate croissant, a cheesy focaccia roll. The breads for the sandwiches were great and soft after being warmed up! My toddler loved the caia and refused to share with us. I liked their chocolate croissant and it would have been ideal with a hot cup of coffee. I highly recommend for literally all occasions!

Honestly, if you judged it by the outside, you might drive right past it. There is one parking spot in front, and then a run down parking lot behind and to the side. The moment I walked in, I felt like I was back in my childhood. The lime green decor, the dark bakery display cases filled with buns, and the small plates of food inside reminded me of the Cantonese bakeries I grew up going to. They also had ready to go meals wrapped up to take home. We bought a bunch of things to try. We had the beef cheung fun, siu mai, BBQ pork baos, sesame balls, egg custard tarts, and one of my favorites, the giant round sponge cake. Everything was fresh and really tasty. The roast pork looked delicious too, with nice crispy skin. The biggest surprise for me was seeing lo po beng (Old Wife Cake). We can hardly ever find it on the East Coast, so whenever we do, we always buy some for my mom. Seeing it here made me so happy. I live in the Metro D.C. area, where we have some really good Cantonese bakeries, so I wasn't expecting much from this tiny place. But honestly, Wei Hong Bakery could definitely give many of the bakeries back home a run for their money. Don't let the outside fool you. If you're looking for authentic Cantonese bakery items in St. Louis, this little bakery is absolutely worth a visit. It brought back so many childhood memories, and I'd definitely stop again the next time I'm in town.

Even with the crowd, they kept the line moving and everything seemed very organized. I ordered a fruit croissant, a chocolate Napoleon, and a coffee. After I paid, my pastries were packed up right away, and within just a few minutes, my coffee was ready at the coffee counter. The whole process was quick and efficient. My friend spent a little extra time browsing all the pastry cases before finally making her selections and ordering a coffee as well. While we waited, we admired the beautiful cakes on display and talked about all the incredible-looking pastries. Honestly, I wish I could have ordered one of everything because that's what I really wanted to do! Pastries are one of my biggest weaknesses, and choosing just one or two items is never easy at a bakery like this. Everything looked delicious. In the end, I was very happy with my choices and enjoyed every bite. I even took the chocolate Napoleon home to share with my husband, and he happily helped me finish it. It's kind of embarrassing that this place is literally just minutes from my house, yet I've only been here a couple of times. I knew I wanted something small, but a little more substantial than a macaron, so I went with the chocolate chip biscotti. It was a tough choice between that and the pistachio, but honestly, you can't go wrong with either. From the first few bites, it hit the spot. The chocolate added just the right amount of sweetness, and the biscotti had a satisfying semi-crunchy texture without being too hard. Last year, (I waited that long) I sent Simone, the owner, a message on instagram to let her know I was frustrated about having trouble getting any of the crème puffs she was constantly advertising. They were one of my favorite pastries she made. (Obv not super important I just thought she may not know & what could it hurt giving her some input from a customer, she may know know?) In this message I also told her how long I'd been supporting her & why and how much I loved her bakery. She is black, female, and truly an artist and master at her craft. With a good personality, That being said; she unleashed her fury on me, one of the angriest most condescending messages I had ever read. Not sure if I caught her on a bad day or she just doesn't handle feedback well. I was stunned and disappointed. Either way, I would never consider stepping foot into her bakery ever again. Her window has maybe 5 things to choose from. It's pretty sad, but there were 2 items I love love loved, and I drove out of my way and paid top dollar for those items. She's by far one of the most expensive bakeries in St. Louis, but I enjoyed supporting her I thought she was great. And she has a moving story. Sadly she doesn't know how to handle customers or feedback. I'm in customer service, 30 years, that's not how you do it, I still think she's a cool Person but not enough to support her. We have a ton of fabulous bakeries here I'd rather go to like Nathaniel Reid or Russell's or MO baking co....
