I am really not satisfied with the cake I ordered for my son's 2nd birthday. The cake looks messy and lacks a lot of detail. It looks very much like something I could've done myself. When advised of my disappointment Evelyn was of no help. I was very happy to support a small woman owned business but I feel she took advantage of the situation. This review is for a new year... 2019! Its my niece's birthday time and we requested Evelyn again. This year's cake was outstanding as our theme this year was MERMAIDS... Yup. The cake was moist, delicious and it had fresh strawberries in it for the filling. The cake was practically gone by the end of the day. Frosting was not overly sweet which was perfect because our party guest had quiet the sugar rush already from the dessert table. Delivery was on-time and the cake arrived safe and sound. We ordered a vanilla cake with 2 additional colors (blue and purple) on the inside to match the mermaid theme color scheme. The turtle cake topper was the perfect addition to the seahorse, starfish, mermaid tail, and happy birthday sign. We only like homemade from scratch (real butter, cane sugar, no shortening, container or boxed ingredients, real cocoa, etc etc) and Evelyn really came through!!! My office loved the sweets! I emailed Evelyn about a week before the order and she emailed me promptly back that evening. We had a long email chain while I dithered over what flavor cupcakes I wanted (over a dozen and so hard to decide) and gave me a VERY reasonable price for 2 dozen cupcakes and cakepops. I love cakepops so much but Starbucks' are so expensive! Evelyn's cakepops were a fraction of the cost and tasted just as great. I could not have been happier with the cake I ordered. It was a 6" cake completely customized for what I wanted for my intimate gathering. Evelyn shared recommendations that were so good I ended up going with them which was to do pink ombre frosting with strawberry cake and chocolate buttercream filling. It was literally the best cake I've ever had and paired great with Tillamook Mud Pie ice cream. The strawberry cake was moist and delicious! The chocolate buttercream filling was incredible! The outside frosting was even delicious.... not that waxy stuff but melt-in-your-mouth amazingness. The frosting wasn't too thick either. An absolutely perfect cake.
