So, please do not ever go here should this be your first time ordering a cake. God forbid you don't know how their process goes and you call on a "busy Saturday" to ask for clarification and are ready to pay. We had our cake tasting in April, which was a nice experience and we needed time to decide on whether we wanted to go with this company for our event. Fast forward May, I called yesterday and was hardly greeted by Gail, who stated "We have no record of your quote or anything on file for your cake." - Then I was told by Gail that Ashley would reach out to me. Ashley does and tells me to email their email to complete the booking for our birthday cake. After I email... Scott's delightful response was " Alyssa, I'm not sure what this is in regards to. Scott" So, of course I text Ashley back to inform her, that not only is Gail confused but Scott is too. I called her, no answer, then I called the store and spoke with Danielle. After bringing Danielle up to speed and asking her for the next steps, and even asking why everyone seemed to be so abrasive when I am just asking for the next steps. Her excuse was that "Well it is Saturday and we send out thousands of birthday cakes, wedding cake orders out, so we are really busy. I have been here 17 years and Saturday is the busiest day, so we have policies and everything is on the website." I then asked "is this a good reason to be rude to someone on a busy Saturday when they are just trying to book?" - Ladies & gents... long story short, "Yes" that's every reason for them to be extremely rude and abrasive to customers, because we all should know their 145 step process and exactly what to do. After 17 years you would think their staff would learn professionalism and how to serve others. The whole booking experience is unpolished and confusing. Do better, and be polite to the very customers that keep your business "busy". And if your process was so seamless, then I definitely would not be calling with so many questions. I would never recommend this place to anyone, this experience was unacceptable and extremely disappointing, the owner needs a better team. I've had a better experience at the local Kroger for a $30 sheet cake than here. I wish this experience on no one, especially for celebrations needing a cake. Support a business that appreciates you as the customer and is willing to educate you no matter how "busy" they are and important they think they are. Save your time and money. I literally cannot say enough good things about this locally owned bakery! I was in a tight spot and they were so accommodating and kind. We had a pickup on Saturday and it was SO busy (seems everyone knows how delicious their stuff is!), but even in the chaos of a busy shop, all the employees were friendly and efficient. Our gluten free confetti cake pops were SO pretty and tasty, they were a big hit at our party. We picked up a few cupcakes (almond, YUM) and fancy decorated cookies too out of the case. Sometimes, I find I don't care for the taste of the fancy decorated cookies at most places, but these were not only beautiful, they were really good! Our family became obsessed with "Is It Cake?" on Netflix a couple of weeks before my son's birthday, so I decided to look into getting him a nicer cake for his birthday. With it being too late to order something custom, I was thrilled to find Sweet Escape has in stock items that you can preorder for same day pickup. I got a cake shaped like a Minion (the closest I could find that looked like something that wasn't clearly a cake in a flavor he would eat - the polar bear stole my heart but the birthday boy doesn't love chocolate cake) and some cake pops for his basketball team. First things first - the cake pops are OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Ten stars if I could. My wife--who is very picky about her cakes--wants a birthday cake of whatever the cake pops are made out of. For the big cake I may have done myself dirty - we didn't eat it until Wednesday and I picked up the cake on Monday, and it was a little dry and not as flavorful as I had hoped, especially after the cake pops. But given the quality of the cake pops and timing, I'm taking responsibility here and not removing a star for it, just sharing for anyone thinking of going two days early for a case cake -- maybe don't do that. I will absolutely give the cakes another shot for our next birthday, or be smart and plan ahead so I know I'll get what I want. Thankfully I was able to complete the entire order via email and have someone pick it up. The ordering process was extremely easy! I just asked for a quote online then got an email the same day asking for more details such as the cake flavor and filling. The options for both were pretty extensive so it was easy finding something that I knew my sister would like. I provided a couple of inspiration photos and the movie the photo was based off of (Sharktale) and the writing I wanted on it. I didn't know what to expect since I've never had a custom cake made, so I would have been happy with a sheet cake with the photo and writing on it honestly!! Once I provided the flavors and filling and confirmed the writing, I got a very thorough and helpful email with all the details about the invoice and pickup timeframe. The price was insanely reasonable and it was a good 3-hour window on the pickup date I requested. I submitted my request about a week before my sister's birthday and already had my invoice in my inbox the next day. The cake turned out so much better than my wildest imagination! I ordered a three-tier military retirement cake with about two weeks' notice, and the entire process was easy from start to finish. The online ordering process was simple and straightforward, and I was able to provide detailed instructions along with reference images. The cake turned out absolutely amazing. I order a cake for my birthday. It was to be a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and vanilla buttercream in the layers. I told them I did not want mousse but buttercream. I sent them 3 emails. I also sent a picture of the cake I wanted. They gave me a cake with mousse filing,no happy birthday and whole cake cover in ganache. They offer no apologies but blamed me that I was changing the cake at the last minute. I talked to owner Scott whom holler and yelled and talked very nasty. I told him where the emails went and he said oh you sent them there. No apologies and they didn't even write happy birthday on the cake. Low and behold on the day I receive it it's completely ROCK hard buttercream. While we love the design, the birthday person eat around the icing since of course they don't like buttercream. We also got strawberry mousse on the inside, which is just a very small amount, and you don't even taste it to be honest. I can see why you have to pay first and don't even get to see the final product before pick up, because if I was able to it would've been a refund. This bakery saved the day for me! My granddaughter was turning 12 and I waited too long to order her cake. She wanted a custom cake and this place was able to create an awesome custom cake that looked like sushi on the top with the number 12 and Happy Birthday on the bottom. I placed the order online and they got back to me right away. They ask specifics and give you a quote. They will need to know what flavor you want the cake and what filling you want inside. We chose chocolate cake with vanilla cream filling. The cake served 12 at least and was perfect. You get an invoice and pay for the cake and you are all done. When I picked up the cake they gave me two free cookies for the road along with instructions for "cake care." The cookies were really delicious. The owner Scott and Amy (wedding specialist) are very unprofessional and disrespectful to customers. They are impatient and rude. My fiancé, future in laws and I went to a tasting. As we headed to the bakery, we called 18 minutes before our appointment time to let them know we would be 5 minutes late due to a previous appointment. The staff member who answered the phone told us it was acceptable. Upon arrival we tasted cake as expected and moved into discussion of our wedding cake plan...Things went south from there. The wedding specialist Amy was impatient with our discussion regarding our cake plan. She rushed us through the process. She was upset with our questions regarding logistics with our cake. She even told me (the bride) we cursed them by asking what their back up plan is in the event our $1300 wedding cake was damaged during delivery. She rudely left during our conversation and did not apologize. In the end, my fiancé told the specialist he was offended by her rude comments and rushing. We left the bakery and as we went to our car a random man (turned out to be the owner Scott) came out of the bakery throwing money at us yelling "we do not want your business and take our (enter bad word here) down the street". This man didn't introduce himself or attempt to ask our perspective of why the wedding discussion went so poorly. We told him we will be leaving reviews for future customers to understand what a horrible experience we had with what should have been a memorable moment. Later that evening my mother, my best friend and I posted our reviews on Google. The owner responded to my mother's review with a very nasty response then proceeded to post very unprofessional responses on Facebook. Slandering my fiancé calling him very awful names. So if you truly want a memorable wedding cake selection experience I suggest you go somewhere else where you will be welcome. read more

Sweet Escape was so wonderful to work with! I emailed them and got an immediate response that was full of enthusiasm. They linked me to a form to fill out with the details of my order. I quickly got a quote that I thought was a great price and paid in advance. I paid extra for delivery and their team texted me when they were on the way to drop off the cake. The entire process was very smooth and our cake was super cute. My only instructions to them were that we were having a "western themed birthday party for a person who had just won Yelp's Servies award and that I wanted the Yelp logo on it." It was such a random combo of requests (LOL), so I really appreciate that they ran with it and put it all together in such a beautiful and cohesive way. While I didn't get to taste it since it was a gift to Heather at Smok'n Crew Barbecue (who won #1 server in the USA according to Yelp votes - eek!!!), I can only imagine that it was amazing. I've ordered from Sweet Escape Cake Company a few times in the past and I've been pretty happy with the product and service. This time, I reached out to the company to ask for a small order of 6 decorated cookies to give as a gift to my future bridesmaids. When I received the cookie order cost of $9/cookie, I wanted to understand the reason behind the quote- simply because I've ordered in the past at a lower cookie cost. I asked "Can you please explain the reason for this charge." Instead of being professional he responded to me by: 1) giving a terrible lawyer pricing example (what an idiot), 2) giving me SECC policies, 3) saying he was giving me a favor in hopes of receiving my upcoming wedding business, 4) telling me about his good mood after vacationing in the Bahamas. I am not well versed in the "cookie business" and a simple explanation instead of a condescending email in an attempt to insult my intelligence is a "no no."
