I am so glad I tried Poppy's out. From the moment I got out of my car I could smell the fresh baked goodies. One word.....heavenly. The lady working was so patient with me after I told her this was my first visit. Everything looked so delicious. I chose an assortment or cinnamon rolls, raspberry filled donuts, cheese danish and cherry cream Cheese danish. When I say this was the best danish Ive ever had I mean it! The danishes almost had a brûléed texture. One bite into that initial crunch then sweet, pillowy dough. My heavens...I'll be going there plenty. They are closed Sun., Mon. And Tues.. There are these amazing iced sugar cookies, fudge, brownies, cakes, pies, cheesecakes, muffins, scones and little baby pies. It was not far off the highway. We were greeted by a very cheerful young lady at the cash register. We told her we had never been here before, so she said that meant we would get a free sugar cookie. Nice! They did have breakfast sandwiches. I had an everything bagel with egg, cheese and sausage. My wife had a scone with egg and cheese. We added coffee. There was no place to sit inside, so we sat on the porch. It was very comfortable. Our friendly young lady brought us our sandwiches plus the coffee pot to fill our cups. Great service, plus a very tasty breakfast sandwiches. The sugar cookie was iced, so it was sweet and good. What a terrific place to stop on our long journey home. We were glad we did!

I've been taking my Mom to Miller's for several years when I visit my parents in Ohio. It's about…read morean hours drive from their home with a lovely country scene for most of the ride. We always start at the country store which has an amazing deli. They have seating inside and some outside for eating. On this trip I ordered the ham and cheese with all the fixings. Their sandwiches are very reasonable and huge. I can only eat half the sandwich and I take the rest home. I also ordered pasta salad as a side which was tangy and delicious. My mom loves their chicken salad and macaroni salad. The store also has many homemade items such as an amazing cheese ball, plus an assortment of candy, jelly, applebutter and many of food items. It's always a good idea to visit the furniture store. I've been inside several times and have found some cool items such as Christian birthday cards. You never know what you might find. The furniture is beautifully crafted but a little pricey for me. Plus I have no way to get it back to Florida lol! Once we're done eating we head to the bakery. This is one of my favorite spots at Miller's. You can find a variety of donuts, pies, cakes and other sweets. On this trip I purchased glazed donuts, peanut butter cookies, a cream horn, and two long John donuts. My favorite long John has chocolate icing and white cream filling. The sign is hard to see from the main road so I suggest using your GPS. But if you have never been to Miller's I highly recommend you check them out. But don't go too hungry lol.

I did a quick Google search which brought us up the very rural Orangeburg Rd. I was certain we were lost but then we saw the OLD Magee's sign painted over. When we got back to where I had cell signal, I Googled again and found their FB page, which had their new address. I sent a correction to Yelp with the new address and photo...it's in a shopping plaza now! Once we got there, we ordered a Transparent Pie, cake pops, cream cookies, sugar cookie, and apple turnover. So far we've tasted the pie, cream cookies and sugar cookie...I LOVE the pie!!!!

We were out exploring the area when we stumbled across this charming little bakery run by a group of Amish girls. The moment you walk through the door, your senses go into overdrive. The smell of freshly baked pies, cookies, breads, and pastries fills the air, and I swear I started drooling before I even reached the display case. As I quickly learned, "walking in here with self-control is like bringing a snowball to Florida." It simply doesn't exist! Mine certainly didn't. I ended up leaving with two peach fry pies, a loaf of cheddar jalapeño bread, and a glazed donut. My wife chose one of their giant fresh-baked pretzels with cream cheese. It was served warm and was absolutely delicious. Then I dug into the glazed donut, and wow--light, fluffy, and it practically melted in my mouth. This was our first visit, but there's no doubt we'll be back. In fact, I can easily see us becoming regulars. A quick heads-up: they accept cash or checks, but no credit cards, so plan accordingly. Country Crust also has a cute little café area where they serve pizzas and sandwiches. From what I saw, those sandwiches were absolutely ginormous. I didn't order one this time, but trust me, the brisket on a pretzel bun and the Reuben both have my name written all over them for a future visit. If you're anywhere near Bainbridge and have a sweet tooth--or just appreciate great homemade baked goods--do yourself a favor and make the drive. You are encouraged to order ahead online (which must be done by 9am Sundays for the Wed pickup). They do have some stuff for onsite purchase, but it is first come first serve! My favorite Blue Oven product has always been the English Muffin. Second to that is any croissant they make. Recently I tried the almond croissant and coconut croissant which is now my #1 flavor. They are huge, flaky, buttery, and have yumminess in the center! I finally got to try one of their scones, which has now ruined me for any other scones... spinach cheddar, wow. Finally my newest favorite item is their Spinach Kale pesto bread with cheese. I look forward to Wednesdays just for this bread! Don't forget the Italian hub cap which is huge and a bread staple! I like it with an olive oil dip or garlic butter! Beyond their goodies, for the mini market they have teamed up with Roothouse Aquaponics to provide greens, and Old Dutch Farm to provide meat, poultry, eggs, and maple syrup! All the businesses accept card (some for a small fee) or cash. They all also take pre-orders on their websites! Bumping this down one star for a very unfortunate reason:…read more I woke up this morning craving some of the delicious bread I bought Saturday, only to discover that my Froagies already had mold on them. I don't expect natural, homemade food to last forever, but I do expect it to stay fresh for longer than two days. Last week, I purchased Froagies as well, and they became moldy four days later. When fresh, the Froagies are delightful, but I certainly can't eat an entire package before it goes bad. Splurging on $6.00 bread that ends up in the trash bin makes me cringe. Perhaps these need to be packaged differently? Perhaps smaller portions need to be offered? The other bread I purchased in big, round loaves is still fresh and going strong. As much as I loved those Froagies, sadly, I won't be buying any more.

Others with us enjoyed the meatball sub, chicken salad wrap and pizza. We were so impressed with the homemade breads that we bought breakfast items to take home for later. Everything made in house and it was delicious. We will be back!
