I went for lunch with two friends following a visit to nearby St. John's Cemetery. We arrived just five minutes after they opened at 11 am and were attended promptly. We were surprised the place got nearly full before noon on a Tuesday. Very classy old school ambiance including an attractive bar. It was romantically dark inside. We had just come in from a blazing summer morning and this atmosphere was welcome. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with added chicken. It was comforting but the chicken was pretty bland chunks. I was disappointed it did not have grill marks as my friend's grilled chicken sandwich did. My dish would have been so much more appealing with a little bit of parsley garnish and an offer of cracked pepper. My other friend had the soup & salad lunch and the goat cheese salad was a beautiful presentation. We all agreed the food was good, though there was no wow factor - other than those wavy French fries. Our waitress was pleasant and checked on us appropriately. She also cleared up the mystery of the restaurant's name; turns out that once upon a time, Harrison Avenue was known as Market Street. We couldn't help but notice the crowd was overwhelmingly in their golden years. I am early Generation X and I felt like I was in the youngest 10 percent of the patrons. This was a weekday early lunch so I'm sure the crowd is different at other times. I would likely check this place out again if in the vicinity. read more

My husband and I went here impromptu for dinner one night. We hadn't been in years. In the past we weren't impressed but things have definitely changed. The food was great! We went for brunch and it was all buffet style which was great for our larger group. Everyone was able to find something they wanted to eat from chicken, to typical breakfast food, to make your own omelets to more sweet breakfast options like a donut. When we are visiting family this is a must eat place. The food is fresh and delicious. We had the fish & chips and the fish sandwich. The fish arrived hot, light and flakey and the fries were fresh. No one would take dishes off the table the waiter finally did when I handed her a stack of dirty dishes We were just finishing cashing out when other waitresses asked us to Leave as they reservations waiting. I have never had this happened before. Our reservation was made days ago so Not sure who should own it . Apparently we weren't the only ones there were two other couples that were asked to leave as people were waiting for tables. My girlfriend and I decided to try the Market Street Grille for lunch. The place is very pretty. It is a pub but has an old time charm about it. Our waitress greeted us promptly and took our drink order while we perused the menu. I ordered the Confetti Martini which was Malibu rum, cherry juice, whipped cream, and pineapple juice. Yes it was sweet but I liked it. It came in a pretty small glass though. My friend had an amber draft beer. I ordered a second martini, The French Martini, it was made with Chambord raspberry liqueur, Grey Goose vodka, and a splash of pineapple, it was also good. I had the flatbread pizza and onion rings. The flatbread I chose was the Mediterranean and it was topped with artichokes, diced tomatoes, black olives, red onion, mozzarella, and feta. The onion rings were Sam Adam's Beer Battered Onion Rings and they had a drizzle of Roma aioli over the top of them. The onion rings were ok, I would have rather had the sauce on the side to dip the rings and maybe a sauce that had more flavor than this one. The flatbread was very small and just not a lot of flavor. My girlfriend had a lunch salad and thought the blue cheese dressing was pretty thin and did not taste good. Me and my boyfriend don't go here often it's a little pricey but a lot of the food is really good especially their soups this time I tried something new which was their potato lentil soup that was tasty would highly recommend I got the chicken alfredo it was good A little Bland maybe some different type of seasoning on the chicken I'm not sure but it wasn't bad my boyfriend got the meatloaf dinner said it was pretty good I also got a peach tea with I believe Maker's Mark in it I'm not a big whiskey person but last time I got this it was really good and you didn't taste the whiskey much at all and one is enough to give you a decent buz however this time I could definitely taste the whiskey but also I could taste something super sweet almost like a syrup I still was able to drink it just wasn't my favorite this time overall though our waiter was really nice she checked in a reasonable amount of time the Ambiance with the candles is always nice. I made a reservation for 6:00 PM and we were promptly seated and drinks were delivered shortly after. The waitress took our dinner order and brought out salads and bread right away. The bread was soooooo good. Soft in the middle with crunchy crust and served with a softened, sweet butter. My dinner (pictured) was the smothered portabello mushroom. It starts with a generous portion of homemade mashed potatoes then topped with a large portabello mushroom. In addition it included tomatoes, spinach and about 5 or 6 good sized, tender shrimp. It is then topped with a luxurious lobster cream sauce and parsley for garnish. This is such a unique and delicious dish! We finished with a piece of the homemade peanut butter pie. This is a pretty cool historic building to dine in and the food and service will keep me coming back. read more

Intrigued by the unique and vast history of the building that this restaurant occupies, I was excited to finally give it a visit. Give it a YouTube check if you're a history buff like I am. Getting to the point, their huge menu offers made from scratch, fresh and local ingredients and from what I can tell they definitely hit the mark there. This is a great spot for a quality meal! We had reservations and were seated promptly on this Valentine's Day weekend where it was nearly a packed house (which is a great indication that we've found the right place to celebrate this special occasion). Out waitress was friendly and prompt the entire time we were there. As far as the food I'd give it an A- I ordered the filet mignon Oscar style (medium) which came topped with succulent pieces of crab and a flavorful creme sauce but was a little disappointed that it was over cooked to well. However, the steak itself was still flavorful and tender. The mashed potatoes really won me over as they were just like mom used to make on special occasions. Homemade and with a little bit of skin they really put some love into making this side dish. With so many menu options I'm looking forward to giving this place another visit and giving another entree a try. We've been dining here since they opened. Tonight was more of the same a great dinner and fantastic service. Yelp was giving a free dessert for checking in that the restaurant hadn't authorized. Our server was so upset about it that she paid for the dessert herself. Which of course I couldn't allow and upped my tip by $10. But this is just how this establishment and the staff are. I can not recommend this place any higher. They have always done right by us. Yelp you need to work better with businesses, it was embarrassing as a Yelp Elite to have a yelp offer denied because the business had not authorized it. read more

Market Street Grille is a Harrison, Ohio, gem. My husband and I love to dine here, especially when they host a specialty wine dinner. So I'm long overdue in writing a review. Our most recent visit was just a few days ago, and once again, Market Street Grille did not disappoint. I ordered the Walnut Crusted Salmon, which comes with sautéed vegetables and wild rice. Yum! The vegetables comprised of broccoli, carrots and squash. I don't typically care for squash but this is one time that I really enjoyed it. Everything was mouthwatering. My husband ordered the prime rib, which he really enjoyed. Our meals also came with homemade bread and a soup or salad, but our experience didn't end there. Before our meal was served, I started with a Raspberry Chocolate Martini, which was pure delight. After our meal, my husband and I split a Brownie Sundae. The brownie was soft and rich, and the cinnamon ice cream was the perfect complement. It was like a party for my taste buds. In addition to the food and adult beverages, Market Street Grille has two more things going for it: fast, friendly service and a gorgeous historic building. The next time you're in the neighborhood and looking for a great meal, stop into Market Street Grille. I do recommend reservations, though, as they are limiting seating due to the pandemic.
