I don't know why she didn't just tell me she didn't want to take my order. From her first response to her last, my gut feeling was right. I never should have spent my time and energy giving her my business. Her communication was poor from the beginning. She did not answer my questions right away, gave short responses, and I often had to ask the same questions more than once before getting an answer. I immediately felt like I was not welcomed as a customer. Even though most of her reviews seemed good, I tried to be patient and continue with the order. Before I could send payment, she said there was a family emergency, that she had to travel, and that she would no longer be able to make the cupcakes. While emergencies certainly happen and it could truly be the case- the timing left me skeptical, especially since the event is still over two weeks away. Before being cancelled on, I was simply asking for written confirmation of the correct order details and pricing (bc in her previous email it was incorrect). I wanted the correct cupcake order and price written down for a paper trail before sending payment. It did not need to be official, but after the incorrect total and poor communication, I felt uneasy. Her explanation for the wrong amount did not make sense compared to her listed prices, which made me feel like she may have been trying to upcharge me. Regardless of the emergency, communication was just poor and that's the main reason for this review. I don't know if my order was too difficult because I requested several different flavors, no designs, except for one cupcake. I'm not sure where things went wrong, but I'm very disappointed because her work looks great. Some of her reviews mentioned good communication, but that was not my experience at all. I hope she does not treat another customer this way, especially because planning a party is already stressful. If she does not answer your questions clearly and promptly, I would consider taking your business elsewhere. I would not recommend.

From the tasting to the execution day of, I was extremely happy with their services. The two standout moments that made me really appreciate their service were: 1. I really wanted a 'not too sweet' cake combination and they worked with me and suggested the following combination: Vanilla cake/Fresh fruit + Lemon curd + Diplomat cream/Vanilla BC which I and my guests loved. 2. They helped me figure out servings and other fine details that I wouldn't know when ordering desserts for such a big event. Some other things I appreciated: making my Husband and I a box of desserts for later since we definitely did not have time to try our desserts day of, rentable displays, and then an easy return process for the rentable displays (they provided a box) Big thanks again to the JennyWenny Crew!

However, we liked their cake flavors and options the best. We did a 4 tiered cake with an added on sheet cake. The 2 top tiers we did a vanilla cake with a strawberry filling, the rest was an Oreo type filling with vanilla cake. They also had a nice selection of other desserts but we opted to do those with our venue. But we did try some in our samples and they were delicious. It was really easy to get in contact with someone and upon visiting San Diego we were able to make an appt the week prior to when we came out in August 2023 to meet with various vendors. We opted to do a plain buttercream cake because we wanted cascading flowers. JennyWenny cakes do charge a small floral placement fee but it was only $25 and they did it very well. I was in awe when I walked into our ballroom and saw the cake. It tasted just as good as our tasting. I wish I was able to save a piece for our anniversary but will def reach out at our one year mark and see if they can do a sort of anniversary cake when we are in town. Thanks so much to the staff for all their help throughout the past year. We loved our cake!!

I see they've revamped the walls upstairs and seem to have added more seatings too. I noticed they have a water dispensary area which is self serve. There's also a QR code for the menu, but I went ahead and searched the menu online and was helped by Tristan when all my friends have already placed their orders. He made sure to ask how I wanted my eggs done and if I wanted to add anything else. But also orders can be placed using the scanned QR if a server hasn't had a chance to check on your table. I ordered the avocado Benedict with hash. My friends ordered the chilaquiles and french toast, and a bunch others that I didn't get to take a pic of. However, I was able to try the chilaquiles, and the steak on that was so flavorful, the tortilla chips were nice and crispy, and the sauce in the bottom had a slight kick to it but with the mix of crema it helped balanced out perfectly. As for the cinnamon brioche french toast, that was one of the best French toast I've had in a while. Nice and crispy but still fluffy in the middle, with that nice cinnamon flavor, topped with whipped cream and berries. As for my order of the avocado Benedict. You can choose how you want your eggs cooked, and I had mine poached. Can def. Add other proteins to the dish with extra charge, but I wanted to keep it as is. The brioche bread was fluffy and buttery like too, it was great for absorbing some of that hollandaise sauce and yolk. My friends also ordered two bottles for mimosas. We had lychee and mango syrup/puree and it gave such a tropical and summer vibe. We also ended our meal with some desserts. We had the cream puff ube, cake choc brownie, and cheesecake caramel apple. My fav. Out of the three, was the cake choc brownie. I think I would be able to eat two of those if I wasn't full. Just loved how the chocolate mousse on the top melted in the mouth, but also that brownie isn't the typical brownie texture. It has a crisp to it. The mousse and crispiness just melts so deliciously together. I should've ordered another for takeout. Service was great despite it looking busy. Food didn't take too long to come out either. But we also did dine in at a decent time too. We had such a good time, especially for my friends who tried it out for the first time. I see they also have a dinner menu now. Maybe we'll come back to try that next time!

So I'm guilty of not making the trek into Ramona for the full experience, but I snagged one of…read moretheir blueberry pies for Christmas when I saw them sitting at Frazier Farms! They were sitting right next to the Julian pies and it kinda looked like a fight, like a battle of the mountain bakeries kind of fight. Needless to say, I grabbed both because everyone immediately glorifies the Julian pie so by including the Ramona pie, my objective was to introduce some low risk novelty for my Christmas get-together. I didn't have high hopes for Ramona's blueberry because I was suspicious of the huge bready looking crust roll in combination with the sticker on the front boasting "no seed oils". I'm not fluent in baking alchemy. I was raised on Costco pie (bleh). So, I thought this was going to be dry and overly sweet but much to my whole family's surprise, Ramona was the winner! My takeaway: Do not discriminate the chubby crust roll! Take it from me because I'm a savage that eats a pie right out of the fridge. The crust is like a shortbread cookie. It's almost on the Italian pastry spectrum. Very delicious. Very coffee friendly. The blueberry filling was also perfectly balanced. It wasn't too sweet and even with the crumble topping, I felt like I could eat it with yogurt in the morning and trick myself into calling it a wholesome breakfast. Now, I'm going to say this with a huge shield up... but it knocked the Julian apple pie way off the shelf for me.
