We took a nice drive out to Julian to see if it's worth purchasing geggs. We drove up to the window but decided to go into the store. Entered through the door on the right side of the shop and made an exit out of the left door. The ambiance was arthritic cold in the shop and CLEAN! Customer service was great! read more

Stop here whenever we come back from Julian. The first time we purchased eggs, they were the tastiest things I'd ever had. This time around, they were underwhelming. The eggs from the grocery store were actually better. The stand itself is cute, and surprisingly, it has a drive-through. My husband said the lady at the counter was sweet and friendly, so A+ for customer service. Not sure if I'll continue to purchase eggs here again. read more

I don't know how many times we've been to the Anza Borrego desert, Julian and Ramona and can't believe that we've never stopped here. Amazing. We were headed out to go camping and broke some eggs before we left the house so we stopped. We'll be back because these eggs were delicious. They were huge, delicious, affordable (cheaper than Vons anyway) and the egg yolks were a beautiful shade of orange. I've never seen yolks like that. The sign says they only take cash but the guy working there said a card would be ok. We scrounged around and found the cash but you might want to go prepared with cash just in case. We highly recommend this place if you're looking for some fresh, delicious eggs! read more

There I was, heading to Julian for some Apple pie on a stormy Sunday and Kai shouted that there was a drive through eggs shop. We couldn't not stop! The jumbos were incredible. We live in Julian, so have gotten eggs here a few times in 2023. On 3 separate batches, after the eggs have been in the fridge for a few weeks, we have gotten sick. I wonder if it is Salmonella. Never had this problem with store bought eggs like at Costco in 35 years. So we won't be going back. read more

I had high hopes for this place, but I think I've had better eggs elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, the lady that was selling me the eggs was very nice and their pricing isn't bad but I wanted fresh eggs (bright orange yolk) and this wasn't it. They taste the same as the eggs I get at Costco so this is a hard pass for me. read more

I could take a star off for being so out of the way, but this is a country store, so of course its going to be out of the way. A unassuming store that is painted and made up to look like a small barn, with a counter and cashier inside. This is a cash only business that sells eggs of various sizes (I had no idea, jumbo eggs were a thing, now I know). A store like this is not going to be in the same shopping center as a Vons, so yes, you need to drive on some dirt roads to find this gem. If you like the taste of fresh egg sandwhiches for breakfast, this is your new jam. They sell crates of eggs at a bargain, and the operation is ran by a person who stands behind a counter and gets asked the same questions by tourists (an under appreciated job). read more

The second stop of my Northeast San Diego adventure brought us to Pine Hill Egg Ranch. PHER has 1.7 million chickens and it sure smells like it! With that many chickens, PHER supplies their onsite stand/drive-thru and stores i.e. Costco with their fantastic eggs. Our group came out with 120 eggs that were packed the day before and good for nearly a month. They have them sold room temperature, which is how they should be stored. I couldn't tell the difference when I cooked them scrambled, but they tasted great boiled. If you're on your way to Santa Ysabel or Julian, make sure you stop by and grab some damn good eggs. read more

I came here about 7 years ago and I still remember the eggs that I bought from this little egg stand. We were passing by to go to Julien and a friend had recommended this egg shack. I thought, might as well right? I was a little concerned because they didn't refrigerate the eggs but I later found that this is very normal for those living around the world. Most people don't refrigerate their eggs. I remember that the shop was super cute and they had several cartons of eggs -- sold based on the different sizes. I can't remember very much from this experience but what I do remember were the taste of the eggs. I have never had better eggs since then. The texture and flavor was so rich. I was skeptical about buying farm fresh eggs before because I thought, how different can they be from store bought, but not these eggs. They were firm and tasted so much better. There were a couple of eggs that had double yolk inside. I've been to different farms since visiting this egg stand but nothing has compared to the delicious tasty morsels that I had from here. In fact, I've been raising my own chickens and the flavor still doesn't compare to the eggs that I tried here. read more

The drive thru was very easy and the young man helping us was friendly despite how busy he was. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes. I believe they accept Apple Pay or cash. These are by far the best eggs I have ever tasted. Store bought eggs just don't taste the same anymore to me. The sign was changed to demur brothers, but the eggs are still the same. It is a treat to get eggs from here. I live in San Diego and anytime I make my way to Julian I have to stop at this charming egg stand. They are always nice and have eggs that are super fresh. There is a huge difference between the eggs you get at the super market versus the amazing eggs you get from this egg stand. I think they are cash only and you can bring back your old egg cartons for them to re use. read more

We love getting eggs here because they're like "souvenir" from our trip back from Julian. We bought XL eggs this time but we noticed that, compared to the eggs on display to show the different sizes, our XL eggs were smaller than the large egg on display. We pointed this out to the cashier and she just gave us a blank look and didn't do anything about it. We didn't fight it much and just took our $6.75 flat of 30 eggs but if anyone who reads this review cares about getting a specific sized egg, be sure to check before you leave the store. The people who work here are always friendly. I am not a crazy egg fanatic, but my boyfriend is. We come here every couple of months to get a flat of fresh eggs. He loves his eggs! This place is no-frills, super quaint with the charm of a oversized lemonade stand. We paid $9 for a flat of the super jumbo eggs. I come here to make the bf happy. I will whip up some scrambled eggs with these bad boys & the consistency of the eggs is totally different. I was told I HAD to get eggs here, I didn't know what the big deal was, after all, eggs are eggs. Boy was I wrong! I took home a dozen jumbo eggs and a flat of xlarge eggs. This morning I cooked up some jumbo eggs and they were like nothing I had ever eaten. That must be the "fresh" that I keep hearing about. I don't even know how to explain the difference in a grocery store egg and what I just ate. They cooked up beautifully, they were rich and fluffy, and just amazing! We stopped by on our way back from Julian and got a dozen, wished we'd gotten more! I really didn't expect such delicious eggs. I had some fresh eggs from a friend who has chickens and I did a side by side comparison and was very surprised to find Pine Hill's eggs superior. I was shocked to read the one star review regarding animal cruelty so I checked on it and this is what I found: After the ranch owners viewed the video, they issued this statement: "Pine Hill Egg Ranch contracted a third party service company to euthanize the hens. This third party company was repeatedly advised on the legal standard of euthanization. The crew member depicted in the video was acting directly against Pine Hill Egg Ranch policy and his third party company management. This crew member will not be allowed to perform services for Pine Hill Egg Ranch at any time in the future. Pine Hill Egg Ranch is outraged to find out its hens were mistreated by this crew member. Pine Hill Egg Ranch has a zero tolerance policy for animal cruelty in its operations." I hope this is true. read more
