First time spot on was amazing all the sweets I picked out were amazing and delicious!! The team that day was super funny and kind, they cracked jokes with us and helped me pick out a drink the treats to try. Second time around sweets were just as good but the service wasn't. Staff member working that day seemed like I was bugging her and she also didn't put lids on the desserts I got, maybe they were out of the lids this time around I don't know but that was frustrating cause it was for my moms lunch the next day so very disappointed. Got a SWEET treat for my birthday yesterday! SWEET never fails with their baked goods, and the first bites of the cupcakes got me in heaven!!!⁣ ⁣ --The funfetti cupcake was phenomenal. The frosting was thiccc and flavorful; the cake was moist & not crumbly. It was addicting. My only regret is not getting there earlier to grab more (Mine was the last one). ⁣ --The cookies n cream cupcake had the same flavorful vanilla frosting plus oreo bits (I'm an Oreo fanatic). I'd love to have more oomph in terms of the oreo flavor, but I honestly would still eat these again and again.⁣ ⁣ --Our hot chocolate (one with whole milk, one with oat milk) came very chocolatey. It was my first time having hot chocolate with oat milk, and I think I might prefer that over whole milk...⁣ ⁣ Also, we gladly waited outside as Sweet only allows 6 people at a time in their shop, with a sign going over social distancing and other precautions. A friend visited Houston and was gracious enough to bring me back goodies from SWEET. OMG I am forever indebted! I absolutely loved my macaroon flavor options, listed in order of deliciousness: Pistachio, Blueberry, Rose, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut and Coconut. Each were the perfect texture, beautifully coated shell, moist inside, supple and flavored of taste to match its name. I was also gifted with cupcakes: Salted Caramel, Red Velvet and Strawberry. Each had a whipped icing that melted in my mouth instantly. The cake was soft and preserved well over the 2 days it took to arrive in my kitchen. These pastries were obviously made with TLC. I could not only see it in the presentation but it was also in the taste. I only wish I was able to visit this little gem myself. I'll definitely be there next time I'm in H-Town! read more

I don't come to City Center that often,but i was in the area and wanted some lunch. I walked in thinking this was the crêperie,and was confused because their names are similar. Come to find out,they are within walking distance and you can see the crêperie fron this shops window! Antways,as i was initially confused,that died down because of all the delicious cupcakes and coffee and macarons i saw! I helped myself to a box of 9 to save for later. 3 rose,3 lavender and 3 pistachio. I'd like to give SWEET a big high-5 and a hug for making my baby shower as sweet as the delicious cupcakes they provided. SWEET is a little morsel of a shop tucked away in the CityCentre around the corner from the Yard House (which is also deeeelicious) and RA sushi. I had a little issue with parking because I had to pay to park although I was just picking up my order, but quickly got over it once I stepped into SWEET's shop. There is a really nice vibe inside, like a comfy, yet modern, and clean/minimalist kind of feel. That seems to be the trend these days. I was greeted by fresh trays of just-iced cupcakes, still sitting in their sheet pans, teasing me on the counter. I love that all the cupcakes are decorated differently from garnish to icing style. It makes me not care to ask, "What kind of cupcake is that?" --- I'd rather be asking, "Can I get one of each?" They had little macaroons displayed around as well, and I'm not sure how I passed up splurging on some because they looked very cute and tasty. I made the call 2 nights before to pre-order 1 dozen strawberry mini-cupcakes (strawberry icing), and 1 dozen chocolate mini-cupcakes (chocolate icing/chocolate ganache) for my baby shower. I asked them to do "sprinkles" (more like sugar that sparkles) for 4 chocolate and 4 strawberry, and they gave me no hassle and threw it in as a complimentary service. While waiting in line for my cupcakes I had a 5 minute staring contest with a Hummingbird cupcake and a Peanutbutter cupcake. Being the sucker I am, I caved in and ordered both (Eating for two? Hell yes!) How can you say no to something that has a drop of jelly on top? I used the mini-cupcakes to decorate my homemade 3-tier cupcake tower and it was adorable, as a baby shower should be. I uploaded pictures on here to prove it! And to "put the icing on the cake" they happened to be DELICIOUS as well: not overly sweet, icing nice and soft, and cake very moist. I love it when my cupcakes taste exactly like what they're named after. I love cupcakes... like really love cupcakes. When it comes to dessert, I like cake over any other type of consistency (mousse, candy bar, flan, milkshake, etc...). Little mini cakes covered in frosting is just my thing. I've been to many of the cupcake places around town and Sweet is just average. Located in CityCentre next to Red Mango, Sweet is actually quite easy to miss. When you walk in, you are met by really high ceilings and a pretty bare interior. The high ceilings and big windows make it a difficult place to keep cool. I went in today (a hot July afternoon) and it was a little too warm inside the cupcakery. They need to find a better way to keep the place cool. There was a long line and as I looked at the uploaded photos for this place, I see the line is no rarity. A line would be fine if they moved a little more quickly and efficiently at the counter. I ended up ordering 4 cupcakes (2 s'mores, 1 red velvet, and 1 tiramisu) at $3 each. I also ordered a single brownie bite but I have no idea how much it cost because they never told me and it wasn't listed on the chalk board menu. The brownie bite was too mushy, I bet from the heat in the cafe. The cupcakes were varied. The red velvet was just so-so with too much frosting and I like frosting. The tiramisu didn't taste much like tiramisu, and I didn't really like it but my husband thought it was ok. I really enjoyed the s'mores cupcake but my husband prefers the one from MMM Cupcake truck. Overall, the cupcakes were just ok. If I was around this area, I'd get another s'mores but that's it. I wish they had let me know what cupcakes needed to be refrigerated, because some of them had cold frosting and some didn't. Also, when they put them in the box and put the lid on them, they smashed the tops of two of them. Good thing I wasn't bringing them to anyone as a present. Wow!! Just wow. I love macaroons and tea so this was a perfect little place for my friends and I to go to after having lunch together. I had a creme brûlée and a rose macaroon. Both tasted perfect. It wasn't overly sweet and you can definitely taste the flavors. If you blindfolded me, I would taste and smell the flavors and would be able to tell u what it is based on taste alone. I love the small touches on those 2 macaroons. The creme brûlée has a layer of hardened sugar on it just like the creme brûlée dessert you would have at a restaurant and the rose macaroons had rose petals on it. I assume it was edible. I ate it anyways. But it was just sooooooo elegant, feminine and tasted ahhhhhhhhhhmazing. If I could give 10 stars for those macaroons, I would. They currently only allow 4 people in the store which is GREAT for social distancing. But that created a problem with the pace of customer service. We had about 30mins or so before they closed when we fell in line. The line was not too long so we didn't expect to be waiting as long as we did. When it was our turn, I guess it was already closing time so the service wasn't too friendly anymore. The ladies were rushing us and they even got my order wrong. I ordered 20 macaroons and was missing my 5 pistachios. Good thing I checked before leaving so I got the missing ones. I've been coming in at Sweet since it opened years ago, it's my macarons spot, they've been friendly and accommodating all those times. I am obsessed with their carrot cake! Albeit it was expensive for $9 a slice, but regardless really delicious. The cake itself was very moist and not to sweet. The frosting tasted like cream cheese, milk chocolate and dulce de leche all at once; very sweet but it made up the lack of sweetness in the cake. SWEET is located in City Centre, across from Urban Outfitters and next to Free People. The shop is very cute and crafty looking. There's very limited indoor seating and a handful of tables outside. Most people come in for the macarons, which are beautifully colored and pretty good. The macarons aren't the best in town, but are consistently okay. Sometimes I get one and it's great, but sometimes it's too dry and flakey. I like getting lavender, pistachio, espresso, and almond (a recent favorite). In addition to offering macarons, they sell cupcakes, truffles, packaged cookies, tea and coffee. Pots de Creme are offered on weekends, and you get $1 back if you return the jar. If you follow them on Facebook, you can find out about their daily deals like Truffle Tuesday. Overall, this place is a must if you're in the area and like macarons. read more

Let's be honest. Their pastries are dry. However, what's even worse is their owner, Ann. They messed up my order and swore up and down to fix it. Yes, I have photos to prove it. I spoke with the manager, Victoria, over the phone initially. She didnt have the product in the store to fix my order so promised to replace it or offer me store credit. I took the few items they had on hand to correct the problem but was missing the large majority od my order still. I was promised a call back and begged not to ask for a refund from the manager. I agreed to be flexible and go with that option, and the manager, Victoria, promised to call me to discuss details and next steps. I never heard from her. I called several times (during various open business hours) only to get a recording each time that their voicemail is full. Super unprofessional. I went up again to see if I could reconnect. I was told that they didn't call me because they couldn't find my phone number (that was on the online order I made. It was also written down in front of me, and I watched the guy send the picture he took of it to her via text.). When i stopped by today, the young lady walked to the back and came up to tell me the owner said they aren't going to do anything at all to correct their mistakes and all the empty promises. I asked if she could have her (Ann, the owner) call me bc it was clear that she didn't have the full story. I couldn't imagine a business owner would allow something like this to even occur...much less not attempt to correct the problem once they learned about it She called and immediately began speaking to me rudely. She just went in without allowing me to even speak. I was genuinely shocked. I stated that I would like to give her some background as it sounded like she had been misinformed. She refused to hear me out and cut me off very aggressively before yelling at me never to come back and hanging up on me. There are cameras at the store, so clearly they need to be looked at/listened to. That's how you treat customers that you treated unfairly to begin with? The WORST WORST WORST customer service I've literally ever received. At the end of the day, it's just dry cupcakes and cracked up macaroons, so it's not that big of a deal. I will happily give my business to an establishment that has kind staff (and owners). However, it's important to share these types of encounters with the public so that it's brought to light. I was very happy with this place, despite little issues here and there but this is the reason I am upset. I contacted SWEET via email three different times last week, I contacted them thru IG and nothing. Then on Saturday their catering manager responds and apologizing. I gave some description on what I wanted for MY birthday cake on 5/13/2020. She didn't even ask additional details. I understand Mother's Day has them busy but she didn't reply yesterday either. So I had to find a new caterer. Very rude to just send someone an invoice and not get details that are needed. They said they need 24 hours in advance so I was trying to be diligent and get it done earlier. I was so exciting to finally have a cake made by them and customized to my liking and that didn't happen. I can't blame the entire place itself but I will blame the catering manager. But if you'd like to be treated like a customer who is going to spend money then I'd choose another bakery. When I imagine walking into a dessert cafe or bakery, I want my entire experience to be delightful. Sweet may make the yummiest cupcakes, the tastiest macaroons, and offer other delicious delectables, however they definitely don't follow through with the figurative meaning in their store name. They are on point with their "sweets," but they have failed many times to live up to actually being "sweet" to their customers. I've experienced on more than one occasion how unhelpful some of the staff members can be. Yet, I continued to come back/return and give sweet a second and third chance. Sadly, every time I go I'm still disappointed. In this particular experience, I actually had two girls who were friendly and willing to help, however, they were poorly trained, and rather new to working at the store. I asked very simple questions, such as pricing on gift box wrapping, and whether there were more chocolate cupcakes in the back. Initially, they checked and came back and said "No, that's the last one." Then moments later, another staff member is seen replenishing the display case with chocolate cupcakes. Also, it's unfortunate that the bakery doesn't offer samples of their macaroons. Sometimes it helps to know what the flavors taste like in order to make a better decision....especially if you plan on gifting the macaroons to someone. I asked if I could sample a champagne macaroon, however, the manager said no. Then I proceeded to go to the register where a third employee completely ignored me, and was only friendly to the other customers in the store. I feel like Sweet is very selective and exclusive to whom they choose to treat well...they treat you differently depending on whether you look like you come from money, or you're a certain race...and this place isn't the first, and won't be the last place I'll experience this for being Asian or "looking" like I don't have money. It's so unfortunate because I love your macaroons and cupcakes, as well as the creativity in your brand....but you've lost a customer and I probably won't be returning anymore because I refuse to go to a place that makes me feel ignored or less valued. Haven for those with a sweet tooth. First thing I noticed when walking in, were all the decorations inside. LOVE the creativity incorporating macaroons & paper baking wrappers hanging. I was in a coffee mood after eating lunch so I asked a guy what a popular favorite was & he suggested the dream drink with hazelnut, caramel and espresso. I got it iced and it was decent. I didn't get much of a kick out of it. Aside from that, I got a macaroon and a package of cookies. Their white chocolate macademia cookies are yummy! Awesome custom number cake for my mom's retirement celebration! Miranda, the girl in charge of cake orders was so nice and easy to coordinate with. The taste was absolutely delicious. My whole family loved it. Got the almond and strawberry layers. It is like a tree leches style cake. And the fruit and gold flakes looked very cute. My mom thought it was so fabulous. Walking into this crowded small bakery, I immediately noticed the chalk board menu and macaroon towers. The menu is very clever and the towers were gorgeous. These lead me to think that this bakery must specialize in macaroons, so I made up my mind to try these. I looked carefully at the colored, laminated macaroon menu, which was available on the counter. Picked out 8 different flavors that seemed appealing to me and proceeded to pay. They turned out to be $2 per macaroon. A little pricy for the small size. 4 cm in diameter and less than 1 cm in height. I can't see the filling. Nonetheless, I paid it hoping this would be worth it, but I was disappointed. The first disappointment was the macaroons were placed inside a plastic bag instead of a macaroon box. If I was buying more than 5, I think he would be better customer service if they were placed in a box. They did not travel well in a box! Consistency: macaroons had horrible consistency. When I cut into the macaroons, they completely crumbled with the exception of the espresso, almond, and peach mango. Taste: again with the exception of espresso, mango, almond, and peach, the vanilla, hazelnut, green tea, lemon, raspberry, and strawberry was way too sweet or was just too bland. I love Sweet for 2 reasons, their milk teas which have a unique flavor, and their chocolate chip cookies which are to me the best in town. They also serve a milk tea/chai tea hybrid which I've recently become addicted to, but with all their iced drinks, ask for light or no ice or you'll end up paying for a sip of liquid and a cup of ice. I've tried their cupcakes, macarons and other desserts and they are all pretty mediocre, but the milk tea and mini bag of cookies are enough to keep me coming back. Oh! I ordered a custom cake for my wife's birthday, and first let me tell you it was hard to place the order. I get it was a holiday weekend, but I had to call three times over 4 days to even get a callback. So, I paid over the phone and arrived on the day of to pick up my order. I get to the counter and ask for my cake. I get a lot of blank stares. 10 minutes of searching commences, only to be told they don't have the cake. They forgot about it. What? Mind you I had already paid them I've $100 and now no time for any decent alternative. They didn't really have an explanation other than someone in catering's last day was a few days ago? I am a fan of this place. Nested inside the City Centre, it has an extremely cute setup with mostly outdoor seating. The place is small, and the staff is ALWAYS friendly. I have not tried their teas, but specialty coffees are fantastic which seems to be what the customers buy the most, as regular coffee is not always fresh. However, if you request they will gladly brew a fresh pot for you. Macaroons are great, and there is always a great deal of variety available. They tend to be on the expensive side, so on Monday's there is a macaroon special, buy three get 1 free. Cake balls are also fantastic, with similar special on Tuesday. I really like this place, and if prices were a bit lower-I would give them 5 stars. But I still get coffee here every day. read more
