    Omelette and a Biscuit

This place was great! Marlene was super nice and attentive. The biscuit was so good I forgot to take a photo until I had eaten half. Definitely one of the best biscuits I have had. I also had a meat lovers omelette which was delicious. The inside is a mix of rustic charm and it was very clean. We will definitely be back!

Least People think I haven't been back here, but I have many times. It still is the best kept secret secret even with its outstanding rating. Locals love this place the service, food, and friendliness can't get any better. If you get the chance and your reading this don't miss an opportunity to go, breakfast and lunch only and breakfast stops at 11 am. This time my wife and I enjoyed a fried Bologna and Onions with Mayo on toast----Oustanding!

What a nostalgic place! Reminded me of being young again going to the drugstore and getting a handmade fountain drink and freshly prepared food. Y'all need to try this place out ASAP!

Wow! How cool is having a great breakfast in a drugstore? Coffee's was awesome. Not five stars because my eggs were over easy instead of medium like I ordered and one of my refills came with a hair but still great.

Awesome to find this nostalgic drug store cafe! I had the most delicious grilled pimento cheese sandwich. The pimento cheese is homemade. Hamburger, BLT, Fries, and onion rings were tasty. To top it all off they had flavored fountain drinks! Soda with cherry it was. The outstanding friendly service made our day! We will be back soon.

Not sure about all these rave reviews. Maybe it's geared to locals only but I felt out of place and felt a bad vibe. While the service was fine, the food was very mediocre. My Mom ordered the potato soup which she did not eat as it tasted like water. I had a salad and can't remember the last time I had an iceberg lettuce salad. Very disappointing. I may not be a local but I am a taxpaying land owner in the area.

This may be one of the best places to feel at home and have a meal that feels like moms. First, you won't stumble on this place. It is inside of a small rural pharmacy and that adds to the charm. I drove by 4-5 times and never noticed it. I'm so glad I found it online. I came in for breakfast and stayed 2 1/2 hours surrounded by some of the nicest and most remarkable locals. The service, food, conversation and charm were all 5 stars. The food is home cooked with love. I couldn't decide. Omelet, meatloaf, tater tots, grilled cheese, BLT, coconut cream pie and so much more Make sure you stop here. Most likely you will come back again.

Even though there was a steady stream of customers, the staff kept the line moving quickly while still taking the time to chat with people and make everyone feel welcome. Our drinks came out fast, too. I ordered an iced mocha latte, and it was exceptional--easily one of the best I've had. My husband had a double shot of espresso and really enjoyed it as well. The quality of the coffee definitely stood out. Another thing we loved was the ambiance. They feature handmade items from local artists, have spaces where people can network and leave business cards, and the upbeat music added to the welcoming feel. There was plenty of indoor seating, and we enjoyed sitting by the window and people-watching for a while. Honestly, there wasn't anything we didn't enjoy. We'd definitely stop in again the next time we're in West Jefferson.

Both were refreshing and flavorful. Service was fast and accurate for a moderate client load and consistent stream of orders. Sidewalk seating available. Dogs welcome. The interior is spacious with plenteous and varied seating options: bar, table, nooks, and couches. The establishment is clean and there's congestion to the decor, but I can't say it's classically "bohemian". Nonetheless, it's pleasant, comfortable, and welcoming. I could tell care and attention were given to the ambiance. We would return and recommend you check it out.

The restaurant opened back in 2012. It is veteran-owned and employee-run. The restaurant doesn't have its own parking lot, but there is free parking on the street and in nearby lots. There is both inside seating, with a bar, but I didn't get much of a chance to see that as I opted to sit outside. I was enjoying the much cooler temperatures in Ashe County and decided to enjoy the fresh air. The outdoor patio isn't overly fancy--it features standard picnic tables--but it is fully covered and provides a very nice, relaxing open-air environment. My waitress was as friendly as could be and gave me plenty of time to look at the menu as I was having trouble deciding between a burger, the pot roast or the apple salad. I went with the pot roast as it was something not on the menu at most places. It was roasted for 8 hours and had mashed potatoes, veggies and gravy. It was delicious, and I was happy with my choice. Although I am sure I would have enjoyed the other options, I narrowed my choice down to them as well. Boondocks is a gem of West Jefferson, and I've already been planning a return trip.

After looking over the menu online beforehand, we were excited to give it a try. We were seated right away, but then waited over five minutes before anyone acknowledged our table. Our server, AJ (Adrianne, I believe), was friendly enough, but she seemed a bit overwhelmed or possibly stretched too thin. Since we'd already been waiting, we were ready to order both drinks and our meals at the same time, and that seemed to throw off the usual routine. Throughout the meal, it felt like we were inconveniencing her whenever we needed something, including asking if the music could be turned down. The food was the highlight. I had the biscuits with pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes, and the pimento cheese was exactly how I like it. My husband's tuna sandwich was good, although he wasn't a fan of the house fries--they were extremely thick, almost like eating a baked potato cut into wedges. We also ordered half sweet/half unsweet tea, but it was still much sweeter than we expected. The dining room itself felt a little plain for such a large space, and the 60s and 70s music was louder than we would have liked during lunch. Overall, the food was definitely the best part of our visit, and I'd order my meal again. With a little more attentive service and a more comfortable dining atmosphere, this could have been a much better experience.
