Was in Philadelphia for business and had the opportunity on my last day there to try some desert and Sweet Nina's. The owner was there and she was very friendly while discussing her business. The flavor of the Banana pudding was great with just the right of amount of banana's, cookies, pudding and whipped cream. The cup was full of flavor overflowed with every bite . This is the first time I've tried banana pudding, so I really don't know how this compares to others, but I thought the banana pudding here was delicious! Their Classic Vanilla flavor is $7, and all the other flavors are $8. We got the classic and the vanilla pudding with chocolate drizzle. Both were really good, and I don't think any of the flavors can go wrong! I thought the wafer bits on the top of the cup would be like a crunchy, crumble topping, but all the wafer pieces were soft. The pudding was very light, almost like a light vanilla whipped cream. I normally don't like straight up pudding, so I really like their balanced ratio of banana, wafer, and pudding. The amount of wafers they put in a cup made it taste more like a banana cream cake than banana pudding. I wish there was a Sweet Nina's closer to my area. I was surprised to find out that this is the only location and that they're actually a very small local business. If I lived closer, I'd definitely visit here often to support them! read more

I was in reading terminal market the other day and got a banana pudding. At $8 a cup it seemed a little pricy at first but you'd pay that or more if ordering a dessert in a restaurant. The person behind the counter (maybe Nina?) was really friendly and offered me a big paper bag to carry my stuff in. That was really thoughtful of her. Now- the banana pudding review. OMG! This was the best banana pudding I've had. The perfect ratio of cookie/custard/banana and the custard was really flavorful. Not just whipped cream or puffin but you could tell love and care went into this recipe. I 1,000% will be back to try the other flavors and get a classic banana pudding for good measure. As a Southerner, I was left scratching my head with this one. I loved talking with the staff and shooting the breeze with them, and they were super helpful and informative along the way. However, after trying the Caramel Pecan banana pudding as well as the Pineapple/Strawberry Pound Cake banana pudding, we were left underwhelmed. It's more of a custard than a true banana pudding. The mix-ins overpowered the "pudding" by a long shot, leaving the dessert unbalanced. It didn't taste bad, but I found it more enjoyable by reframing it as a parfait. They have so many creative flavors so the concept is there but the execution falls short. read more

The 8 oz for this flavor was $8, which is a bit pricey, especially tracking what their prices used to be for the size. Who doesn't love banana pudding? Located in Reading Terminal, passed by Sweet Nina's and yes banana pudding caught my eye. I know what I want to get for dessert here. Wow, with 8 choices to choose from, decided on 2 flavors. The popular ones sell out fast or they may not have them for the day...so be prepared and have a second choice. That's what happened - no Nutter Butter the day I was here so settled on the Classic vanilla and strawberry banana pudding. They come in cute 8oz cups. The classics are $6 and specialty mixes are $8. Classic vanilla banana pudding 8oz $6 Strawberry banana pudding 8.5 oz $8 Have to be careful opening the lids as the nilla wafers do go flying...use the other side of the lid to mix and eat or share - multipurpose :) I prefer the classic the best as for me strawberries are usually hit or miss depending on the season. both were good but classic vanilla was my preference. it was very good and definitely not too sweet like other banana puddings that I have had. The banana pudding was so good that I purchased the strawberry, ate it at the counter, and then purchased the peach, only to eat it later on that day. This is the cleanest pudding that I have ever eaten. No preservatives, everything was fresh and made on sight. The service was friendly and incredible. If I would have stayed there any longer, I would have spend every dime I had and wouldn't have been mad! The stand is quaint and it is owned by the most gifted black women I have ever met. Quite possibly the best banana cream pudding ever to exist. Sweet Nina is amazing, kind, caring, and helpful. She took time to explain the ingredients and how things like strawberries are layered directly into the pudding. If you find yourself at Redding Terminal Market, this is the one place you need to make sure you visit. Location wise, I would say she's pretty much right in the center of the market located next to the diner on the Filbert St side. I included a map photo to make it easier to locate her. read more
