This is a WAY overdue review. These guys are AWESOME. I had a sewer pump station die after 20…read moreyears. This was a few days before I had a whole house full of guests. I call Daryl and Sean. They came immediately and realized that both the pump and the backup pump had failed due to a rope degrading and getting caught in the pump motor. When they built the house, they didn't install grinder pumps. The most heavy duty grinder pumps are Liberty Pumps. I was going to have them sent in by FedEx overnight, but Sewer Solutions had them brand new from another job that were provided to them for a large commercial job that really needed even bigger grinder pumps. They sold me two, 1-hp Liberty Grinder Pumps at their cost plus shipping. Instead of waiting even 2 days to bring them in by FedEx (these are about 40 lbs each), they brought them over the next day with a standby electrician to wire everything to code. If I could give these guys 10 stars, I would. Fast, honest, hard-working and fair. THE BEST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD WITH A REPAIR OF THIS MAGNITUDE -- HANDS DOWN!

Barack plumbing installed my water heater exactly 2 years ago…read more beautiful installation, excellent 12 year warranty on the Rheem Gladiator heater. this week I shut off the valve leading to the heater while we worked in the bathroom. the first fitting from the valve started dripping immediately. water sensor alarms go off, we call Barack and they respond. they fixed the leak and gave me a discount off the regular service charge even though the warranty on their work was 1 year. I highly recommend.

Nathan showed up and he was nice and went out of his way to try and get the thing working. This was just to be an appt for an "estimate" but he still tried his best to get this water heater working. No go, it needed all new insides in spite of being brand new. Which were under warranty and shipped to me the following week. He told me the next visit should be around $185. and I was fine with that. The next day I got an email from Steve's stating that the "next visit would be $382. for whatever reason they came back for." This was upsetting as I didn't think I was covered for "labor" under the mfgrs warranty and would have to pay it out of pocket and it was a financial hardship. Almost 80 and existing only on a very meagre SS income. Emailed Steve's to ask why it was so high; no one responded. Then someone emailed after that to ask "how the service went?" and I asked the same question again, about why the estimate almost doubled in price? And again I got no response! When a business ghosts you it's not a good sign. There is clearly room for improvement in the area of communications. I was ready to look for a different plumber when by sheer luck I met someone who knew the manager of their Kona office. This person talked to the manager and explained my situation; the next thing I knew was that Nathan called out of the blue and offered to come back over immediately and install the new parts to get the heater working. He came right over, did the work and didn't mention a thing about money. I was thrilled and willing to pay the $185. he had originally quoted me but he said "no, not necessary" and left!! In the meantime I had found out that I did have labor coverage on the water heater's warranty. I emailed Steve's and reminded them about labor being covered and asked them to please get their money from AO Smith, the manufacturer. I hope they did since they deserve to be paid for their time and work. I was not looking for free work! I would definitely use them again and I would also request Nathan if possible. I must have called at least 4 or 5 other plumbers and only one responded saying he was booked up for the next 6 weeks. Such is life in Hawaii. If I hadn't have met this person who knew the manager this might have been a completely different story...

After doing some troubleshooting on my own--changing toilet parts, checking the irrigation system, and investigating other possible causes--we narrowed the issue down to the main water line. John responded immediately, told me he could send someone out the same day, and even gave me a one-hour arrival window. Based on the information I provided, he was able to give me a quote before anyone even came out, which I really appreciated. As promised, Jonathan arrived right on time. He was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He located the leak surprisingly quickly, and I was shocked at how deep the pipe was buried. At one point, Jonathan was upside down in the hole working to access it! Throughout the process, he clearly explained what needed to be done. He let me know he was going to the store to get a part and would be right back--and he was. He returned quickly and got right back to work. Once the repair was completed, he showed me the damaged section of pipe and explained the fix before covering everything back up. I was especially impressed with the care he took when refilling the hole. He carefully put the soil back in place, and by the end of the job, he was covered from head to toe in mud. It was obvious he worked incredibly hard to get the repair done right. It's been a few days since the repair, and so far everything is working perfectly. The owner of this company is responsive, kind, and most importantly, honest. I highly recommend Good Guys Plumbing for any plumbing needs. He called and walked me through how to turn on the breaker. Then he had me send him pics of the water heater and he told me how to turn it on. No charge. He truly is a good guy. Little did he know that an hour later, a fire truck and ambulance would be at my door to transport my sick sister to hospital (Flu A). We needed hot water and the Good Guy was here to provide it. Thank you, sir. As you told me, "Sometimes people just need a little help."
