Hey ladies. I'm thinking of going next week for a gel manicure and if I like it I want to go every 2 weeks afterwards. Does the gel polish actually last and stay nice for a week and a half?

I can only speak for myself but yes. I am constantly washing my hands at work and continue cleaning around my house and I’ve had my gel manicure stay the same.

My waxer was not friendly, i'm not sure if I caught her on a bad day, but she did not want to be there with me this morning (I understand that everyone has hard days however you can't come off as rude in a professional setting). She was rolling her eyes at me! I didn't speak to her more than a hello and I asked her to repeat herself one time when she was giving me instructions, I came in with a smile! And on top of it, she gave me an asymmetrical triangle, I like to leave hair on top, there was way too much taken off. It looks silly! I showed her with my fingers where I want the perimeter to be. It's so bad I need to go home and shave it off. I left a picture for reference what the triangle looks like. I'm trying to make light of a bad situation. I have gotten plenty of waxes before, I know a good wax and I know what good atmosphere feels like and I did not experience that today. I considered going back in to just have the rest of the hair removed but I really hate to be bald. I'm still debating.

To add onto that, when it was time for me to turn over on my stomach, there was still wax on my leg which ripped the paper lining I was laying on & I could see old blood stains on the cloth under. At that moment, I seriously should have walked out and left. I still left a tip but needs serious improvement as I expected more from a service that has 4.8 stars on Yelp. Avoid if you value cleanliness, etiquette, and overall have high expectations. Will be returning back to my previous waxer.

My visits to European Wax Center (EWC) are quite rare, like once every year or maybe even two. I've…read morenoticed once per year, they always put out a promo where you can get 50% off a new service, where "new service" is defined as any service that you have not received within the past 12 months. In this most recent case, I hadn't gone in two years, so really, any service would have been considered "new" to me. I went with the Brazilian Wax, which I did two years ago, and also tacked on an eyebrow wax because when in Rome. Or somewhere else in Europe I suppose? lol There are only two wax specialists at the Long Beach Towne Center location who can do Brazilian Wax on men: Millie and Brianne. I actually had Millie as my waxing specialist on a visit back in 2022, and while I thought she was good enough for me to recommend to others, I wanted to see how Brianne would compare. Immediately after I made my appointment, I gave them a call to see if the 50% off could be applied to the Brazilian Wax. Terrace (sp?) over the phone fielded my call and, initially, stated that since I had gotten the Brazilian Wax before, I couldn't use the 50% off on that. However, she immediately retracted her statement before I could say something when she realized that my last Brazilian Wax was way more than 12 months ago. I had forgotten about this until the evening before, but there are some check-in forms you need to fill out prior to your arrival, or if you neglected to do so, I'm sure they would have asked you to fill them out before your appointment. I arrived about 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment time and spent the next 10 minutes exploring the adjacent businesses. When I came in, Aaliyah at the front desk greeted me by name. What?! I suppose it's because there aren't too many male customers of European Wax Center, but that was kind of cool, yet also a little creepy lol. It took 5 to 10 minutes before Brianne called me back into one of the rooms. I personally would have preferred to do the eyebrow wax first since that seemed to be easier, but she said we were going to do the Brazilian Wax first instead. I had the Brazilian Wax done a couple of times before, so I kind of knew what to expect, but man, it still hurt, even though I was expecting it to hurt a little more. Brianne wasn't bad, but I didn't really get good vibes from her since her demeanor was quite sassy during my appointment. She also didn't really give me any warning as to when she would pull the wax off my skin, and when she was doing my eyebrow wax, I legit thought she was going to poke one of my eyes despite her telling me to relax my eyes. But nevertheless, she did a good job of waxing. Before she took me back to the lobby, she reminded me that I shouldn't exfoliate for a couple of days after my wax, and she also asked if I'd like to purchase any products prior to leaving, to which I declined. When I came back to the front to pay for my services, I was about to put my card into the reader, but Aaliyah said they had my card on file, so I didn't even need to take my card out of my wallet. Interesting, but I also hope they don't charge me for something I didn't approve beforehand. Actually, they did schedule an appointment for exactly four weeks later at the exact same time at the exact same location. Now that, I would not approve since this was my rare Wednesday afternoon off, and with how my schedule has been this year, I doubt I would have been able to make it, in time at least. So I simply told Aaliyah to cancel since I myself wouldn't even know when would be the next available time, though truthfully, I was never planning to go for the remainder of the year unless I get another discount lol. Let's face it, waxing is pretty pricey, but a good experience to try if you haven't! I left, but then returned shortly when I noticed I didn't get an email receipt that confirmed my payment. I asked Aaliyah, and she was gracious enough to send not one, but two copies of my email receipt; they just came in rather late. The day after my appointment, I received an email from EWC giving some tips on what to do and what not to do after the appointment. Besides the unauthorized future appointment, which I did confirm online was no longer booked, the receptionists at the front desk deserve 5 stars. But neither Millie nor Brianne impressed me enough to want to do a Brazilian Wax here again, unless they hire a different wax specialist by next year. I think 4 stars is fair, but I would likely choose a different location next time.

I think it was called Moda at one time but noticed the name was different now. I walked in and was surprised with how small the salon was. From the outside, it gives the illusion that it's bigger. I think 4 or 5 massage pedicure chairs and 2 manicure stations. Everyone was getting pedicures. I asked for a fill and was seated right away. My tech started with the usual routine. I was getting a little worried because she was filing down so much. But I went with it. She was working fast and that also made me worried. I felt like she was just trying to get me over and done with. We finally get to the color. I was choosing between red and a pink and told her I wasn't sure which one. And then she just went off. In a good way. She said 'red for Valentine's day'. She skipped over painting my ring fingers and I was wondering what she was going to do. She just decided to give me a pail pink color with a design that I didn't ask for. But you know what...I'm not mad about it!!! Check out the pics of my nails. Reasons why I'm giving this place a 20/10: - Was seated at 12:30pm and was done at 12:58pm. Under 30 minutes?! Unheard of. The reason she was working fast is because she's just that good. - The filing down that she was doing gave my nails a thin and smooth look. Making my nails look so natural. - The design would be nothing I would get because I think I'm too old for things like that now lol but... He sat me down and started a soak-off, and while that was finishing, what I assume is a "regular" walked in around 11:13am and asked, "should I come back later?" since there were already about 6 people being serviced. He told her no, to sit at another table, and then got up and left me mid-service to go help her. Mind you, I only had gel on, so it's a soak-off with acetone and then drill off the rest. He started servicing her and never came back to me or communicated anything, he just walked away. Around 11:18, another lady noticed that the man just left me mid service and moved me to a pedicure chair and started my pedicure. After a while, the man finally came back to continue on my nails. I politely asked him to remove the aluminum foil, and he said he would finish doing my nails, but at that point I declined service based on how everything was handled. The other lady told me he "had an appointment," but I don't believe that was the case because she had just walked in and asked if she should come back later, not that she was there for a scheduled appointment. Overall, it was just handled very poorly. I come here when I'm in the area, and my partner is a regular customer, but after this experience, we both won't be coming back. Also, they charge to use your debit card.
