The place is nice. The service is welcoming, but the food would be a choice if you didn't feel like cooking. I had the three piece dark chicken with the sweet potatoes casserole and mash potatoes with gravy. The mashed potatoes had quite a few lumps and everything kind of gave a powdery taste (gravy, casserole, and mashed potatoes). When I say powdery... I'm saying that it just wasn't giving "homemade". It's not intolerable but it's not what you look for when you go to a soulfood restaurant. I also wasn't a fan of the wait. We have some made to order items so it was understood about the 20 minute wait, but we didn't get our food until almost an hour after paying. The extra time waiting seemed to be due to fried green tomatoes not being made in tandem with the fried chicken. As a result, everything was luke warm by the time we got the food. It's truly sad because the flavor is definitely there. The staff was very kind and welcoming. The food was so much better that I expected and it resolved my rather bad day. I ordered the catfish with a side of mac and cheese and green beans. The catfish is made to order, was perfectly crispy and well seasoned. Definitely top 3 catfish meals for me in the area. The mac and cheese was some of the best I have had. It was creamy and savory, it wasn't too fatty and had a firm texture. It was definitely the highlight of the meal. The green beans had a bit of a mushy texture but I really enjoyed regular green beans. The meal comes with a side or cornbread which was filling , fluffy and sweet. Fantastic soul food for me. The banana pudding was also delicious. You can also actually taste banana not just sugar. The people working there were honestly so kind and chill. They knew what to recommend and added to the dining experience. My only criticisms come with how some of the food is prepared for example the green been texture being on the mushy side is likely due to it being presented similarly to a buffet. The staff was very welcoming and took time to explain answers to all of our questions. The establishment itself was nice with a full bar (though I understand it is generally only available on the weekends). As for the food, I enjoyed the catfish, the mashed potatoes, lime (or butter) beans, and cabbage. As for the negatives, I was surprised that the the greens were sweet (it as unexpected unpleasantness for me and I couldn't eat it). In addition we ordered food to go and unfortunately our order was wrong; we ordered the roast chicken and got fried (definitely advise checking to go orders). I tried the fried chicken, mac and cheese, and of course, the sweet potato pie. The food was decent--nothing particularly stood out, but it was a solid meal. Stopped here on the way back from Tunica. Was greeted by two very nice employees. Got the catfish, Mac and cheese, and was supposed to be sweet potatoes but ended up with collards. Wife ordered hamburger steak with cabbage and fried green tomatoes. Unfortunately most everything was very salty and couldn't continue with the meal. This was our first trip to Missisiisippi and we stopped in here after a nail appointment to grab some lunch. We were greeted the second we walked inside. We were asked if it was our first time in and when we said it was, we were given a full run down of the menu and how the made to order fried food worked. The service was amazing and welcoming. The food was beyond amazing. It was my fiance's first time eating fried ribs and they did not disappoint. They were falling off the bone. Probably the best tasting and seasoned Mac-n-cheese we've had. It didn't just have a ton of cheese. It was cheesy and flavorful. I had a Turkey wing over rice that also was very tender. The catfish was made when you order it, they didn't sit at all and it was very good, nice seasoning and really really well cooked. Hamburger steak was fine, could have used a little more pepper in my opinion. But that's easily added. Honey good wings were very good as well. As for sides: mashed potatoes and gravy good! Love the name. Desserts looked good. I was ready to give this place a go! And? Pretty good! But expensive. Yikes. Items that were really tasty included the honey gold wings, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, cornbread, sweet potato pie. Terrible customer service food on the online menu is not ready to serve. I was there 25 minutes before somebody told me they have a separate fried food menu but it has to be prepared that would have been an extra 15 to 20 minutes before it's ready. read more

*I did not get pictures* I visited this establishment while with friends. It was all three of our first time trying their food. I'll start with the good- the sides (mashed potato's, spaghetti and green beans) were delicious! The corn bread also was super moist and flavorful. I ordered those sides along with the two piece white meat baked chicken and..... the chicken tastes like well flavored sand paper. It was seasoned well but the meat was so dry it made the entire experience of everything else horrible. I've truly never had baked chicken that lacked moisture the way this chicken did. I should have known better though because I could tell while ordering that the baked chicken was cooked and left sitting on the hot plate. One of my friends ordered the four bone fried rib plate and his ribs looked like they took what was originally one normal sized rib cut it in half before frying it. He did note that it was well seasoned but also that he could tell that the ribs were fried in the same grease as the fish they serve. The workers were nice- someone was cleaning the windows while we were in, one employee went running out of the restaurant and the remaining FOH employee who took out order was nice but seemed as if he was new and learning the very limited menu for the first time. The location is small but intimate. I would not recommend big parties coming to dine in due to little to no seating. I would also recommend coming early when the food is fresh. read more

I hate that they are inconsistent with their food. The first I came here, it was so good. The next couple of times , the macaroni wasn't good. Neither were the black eye peas and cabbage. Cabbage was bland. Cornbread too sweet and I love sweet cornbread. My hamburger steak would've been good if it wasn't salty. My friend's steak was too tough and salty as well. Food is great. Multiple vegetable choices for vegan customers. Certain things on the menu are served cafeteria style, some items are cooked to order. They also have daily specials. The service is great and the staff is very personable. The ambiance is great, it is quiet but there are multiple television usually showing sports.
