I actually got hot delicious gourmet soup with a green salad complimented with dill dressing! The atomoshere was relaxed and decor was upscale. The owner knew what she was doing to come to Commercial Circle and put her upscale but affordable, convenient, and cosmopolitan niche. Did I mention that the coconut cake was the best ever?

A new lunch destination, always exciting. It's in the same shopping center as Choi's Korean Market…read moreand Restaurant so I wasn't sure if all the cars were at this new eatery or at Choi's (which is known to be packed for lunch). Upon entrance, we noted that it was not packed. Three people were seated at the 7 tables. Very small restaurant. 3 or 4 tables seated 4 ppl and 3 tables were for 2 ppl. The decor is lovely and very pleasant. Linen table clothes and napkins, real glasses. Clean, new and just nice. The bakery display was kind of "eh". Cupcakes, red velvet cake and some other stuff that slips my memory. The menu had like 7 sandwiches, 2 soups, a hamburger, and several salads. Me and my lunchdate ordered the club sandwich with the shrimp and corn chowder soup. I ordered the side of potato salad and he ordered the apple salad side. There were 2 additional sides: side salad and pasta salad. There were 2 soups on the menu but they had 2 additional soups: chicken and wild rice and something else. They had a red pepper soup on the menu. The shrimp and corn chowder came out first in a cute tea cup. My first bite was rich and delish but as it went down, a "tangy bittersweet" after taste followed which I wasn't sure if I liked or not. As I ate more, I realized I wasn't too crazy about whatever they had put in the soup to make it have a "sweet/tangy/bitter" aftertaste. If not for the aftertaste, I loved the potatoes and shrimp and richness of the soup. I did eat all of it, my date didn't. The sandwiches arrived after FOREVER. Seriously, it took entirely too long to make a ham and turkey sandwich with bacon and cheese. It had to be like 30 minutes (after the soup arrived). And we weren't the only ones waiting. When it arrived it looked good and tasted good. The potato salad was kind of "eh". It tasted like potatoes in mayo. It didn't have any other type of flavor/seasoning/kick to it. Very plain. The apple salad my date had was "eh". I could see the apples had turned slightly brown under the mayo "sauce". It had craisins in it. He didn't touch it after the first bite. Overall, eh. Good sandwich, soup not included (unlike McCall's - soup and sandwich for $6.95), soup was ok, wait was long, ticket came up to $21.00. I guess $10.00 per meal would be ok if it was spectacular. I think I like McCall's better. Sorry, Michelle!!!! I would come back to try another soup and another sandwich. I always give another try before blacklisting a place.

It has been a little over a year since I first learned about Krave Eatery & Dessert Shop through…read moreTikTok, which prompted me to travel over two hours to visit this viral restaurant sensation. Since my initial experience, I have returned on three additional occasions, sampling as many menu items as possible, since I never know when I might next be able to return. Krave is operated by a family team consisting of a father, mother, daughter, and son, who clearly put their Christian values on full display as they demonstrate exceptional hospitality and professionalism in all aspects of their business (including a score of 100 on their recent Food & Services Inspection Report). During my first visit, their genuine friendliness and warmth was notable. Afterwards, I discovered that Khaira, the daughter, serves as a youth and young adults pastor, while her father, David, is the senior pastor at their church-which aligns with the attentive service provided. During my initial trip, I was unaware of the restaurant's significant popularity; despite arriving an hour and a half after opening, I waited in line for 45 minutes and barely obtained one of the last available plates. Learning from this, I arrived earlier on my subsequent visits, twice being the first in line ;-) KRAVE EATERY operates primarily on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with occasional Friday "pop-up" events. It is advisable to check their Facebook page for specific Friday openings, as each day features a distinct menu. To date, I have not attended on a Wednesday but did manage to visit on a Friday. The typical menu schedule is outlined below: WEDNESDAY * Jerk Salmon * Jerk Seafood Pasta * Sweet Chili Salmon * Yellow Rice * Grits * Kale * Spoon Bread * Soup of the Day THURSDAY * Roasted Turkey Wings (THIS IS A MUST TRY ITEM) * Smothered Pork Chops * Braised Oxtails (THIS IS A MUST TRY ITEM) * Collard Greens * Sautéed Squash * Yellow Rice * Mac & Cheese * Sweet Potato Soufflé * Potato Salad * Cornbread Dressing FRIDAY * Braised Oxtail Pasta * Sweet Chili Pork Chops * Smothered Baked Chicken * Sautéed Green Beans * Yellow Rice * Mac & Cheese * Sautéed Cabbage * Sweet Potato Soufflé * Red Velvet -- Coconut Velvet -- Nana * Pudding -- Berry Peach Cobbler (THIS IS A MUST TRY ITEM) [Please note that menu items are subject to change.] I have sampled nearly every dish offered on Thursdays and Fridays, except for the sweet chili pork chops. While I did not prefer the smothered pork chops or barbecue chicken wings on separate occasions, the other dishes were consistently well-prepared, generous in portion size, and reasonably priced. Having experienced a wide variety of southern cuisine, I can confidently say that Krave's oxtails, and turkey wings rank among my top five favorites, and the mac & cheese, dressing and sweet potato soufflé are high on my list as well. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Krave Eatery & Dessert Shop merits the two-hour journey, not only for its quality food but for the overall dining experience. I plan to return next on a Wednesday to sample the Jerk Salmon Seafood Pasta and kale, both of which come highly recommended by other patrons I have met while standing in line.
