I have several decayed teeth and was told I had to have them removed to prevent infection of the patch ASAP or the patch would fail causing a massive brain bleed that would cause my death. I had a referral per their requirement that even told them of the urgency. I explained all of this this to the scheduler who didn't care about my situation and said the soonest they could get me in for just a consultation would be in June and the procedure would be even later! I was able to get an appt with Pro Dental in Blaine for this Thursday. I would never go to The Dental Specialists as they don't really care about people.

I had several probs with my cell so I asked her one more time for. directions. When I got there, the person that checked me in was very nice. However, the dental tech was TERRIBLE. She was very short with me, she cut me off several times & made me feel like I was wasting her time. She jammed the x-ray piece in my mouth & caused a little bleeding. I told her she cant just shove it in & she cut up my gum. I told her the VA used a child bitten block because my mouth is so small. She blew me off. I have never felt to unwanted. I am a 100% disabled veteran. I needed help. They were unable to fix my tooth. I think it was a blessing. I hope the VA will evaluate my case. I hate to complain, but veterans deserve better treatment. We deserve to be treated like everybody else.

So on the few rare occasions I have had to need to switch dentist, I am pretty picky about finding a new dentist. So yesterday, after nearly a 2 year hiatus, went in for my check up and cleaning with my new dentist, Dr. Wilcox at Dunkirk dental. I found Dunkirk Dental, and Dr. Wilcox to be as professional and gentle as possible. Pain levels where reasonable, the office was clean, and the conversation was good. I will have to have an old filling replaced which I anticipated, but I have no reason to believe that experience will be negative. In fact I look forward to seeing how the situation will be handled. They were so slow in treating my wifes tooth infection, canceling multiple appointments and just prescribing more rounds of antibiotics to cover it until they could see her, that she ended up in the ICU! Then, when we tried to get her records to transfer to a new dentist they initially refused to send them, then told them they'd send them if we paid (per page) for the records, and then finally when they did agree to send them, took their sweet time so further treatment was held up. Seriously, run far away from this pathetic business!! The office manager is a nightmare to deal with and they had no remorse for placing my wife in a near death situation! If you chose to use this business, beware!!

My mixed review is because I HATE THEIR BILLING SYSTEM!! I have PPO insurance, so I know exactly what my insurance will pay when I go in. And they know it too, because in their treatment case, it shows what they normally charge and what my insurance will pay. When I have my visit, I use my HSA to pay, and I'm billed the full amount, not what insurance will pay. I get that. What I don't get is that I HAVE TO CALL THEM TO GET THE OVERCHARGE REFUNDED. They don't do it automatically when they are reimbursed by insurance. So when they bill $2502, and insurance pays $1025, they're sitting on $1400 until I realize their scheme and call to get a refund. I shouldn't have to do that. It's completely bonkers.
