They did have a great selection of different kitchen items, but even the clearance section in the back of the store to the left was barely acceptable. So, I stroll into the store at 10am on a Tuesday, bright-eyed and optimistic--it's knife-sharpening…read moreday! They'd just opened, and apparently, so had the portal to absurdity. I tell the guy I want the knives sharpened and ready for pickup that afternoon. Simple enough, right? Wrong. He informs me they ship the knives off to New York, and it takes 2-3 weeks. Weeks. Because clearly, these knives must undergo a spiritual journey before they're deemed worthy of being sharp again. I explain they aren't *that* dull and ask if they can just sharpen them in-house. He says they can--oh, but not the serrated knives, can opener, or scissors. Sure, no problem. I'll take those magical items home and entrust him with just the straight edges. Then he drops another gem: they can "touch up" the knives. Fine by me, as long as I get them back in the afternoon. But wait! Plot twist--he suddenly claims it'll take 2-3 *days* because they "have an event." An event? Are the knives the keynote speakers? Because the store was as empty as my patience at that point. I looked around, saw no sign of this mysterious "event," and finally hit my limit. I stormed out, muttering about how I'd apparently wandered into the Theater of the Absurd. Honestly, what a circus.

I have bought firewood for years and I have used most of the competing business in Chicago, so I speak from experience, often bitter experience. I buy a lot of wood (we make a lot of fires!), usually a full cord in late fall at the start of fireplace season, followed by two face cords later in the winter after we've made a big dent in that initial order. The wood is a good combination of small and big pieces, the small pieces are great to start fires and the big pieces are perfect once the fire starts. Other places I've used I've had to split the wood one or two times, which while fun, quickly becomes a chore. As long as Jim runs Chicago Firewood, he's my guy. Highly recommended.

Chef Depot .com " The aggressive email was unprofessional on its own, but at the time of the phone call and their follow-up email, there was no attempt by them to apologize about the poor reviews online, nor to try and keep my business as a 1st time concerned customer, nor any other gesture to protect their reputation and alleviate my concerns. Their deplorable email back to me simply confirmed my original decision to cancel the order after having read poor reviews, and that they are not a company with whom one should engage in any way. There are other fantastic competitor companies out there who have terrific selections equal to or better than this firm, and know how to run a business and how to handle customer concerns without resorting to bullying or demanding a customer never visit their website again. NEVER will I use this site again because of poor customer service, charging me for their stupid mistakes, and telling me they were "more than generous" in a partial refund when it was their mistake all along. Buyer's beware!!! I wish I would have read alllllll of the reviews first before purchasing and dealing with this company. It is a horrible experience when things go wrong with this company. Oh my goodness. These people are horrible. I hired the to install tile. The first week, they…read moresent a person , 1 person despite saying it would be a "crew". The man did not bring proper tools, kept saying he would, never did, and I ended up buying the tool to try and expedite. Owner never tried to provide tools needed and blamed the guy he hired. Week one was spent taking up 200 sq ft of old floor but not all the motar. Power said he had aa crew down with prior job. Could start Monday. I would have all three. I had 3 guys half a day. Ended up one guy, everyone else gone. Poor communication. One day I am told "tomorrow, final demo and dry fitting cement board. Didn't happen. There was another day of demo and some incorrect dry fitting. This is the point at which I said no more. What really sent me over the edge was they turned my water off on Wednesday and I advised multiple times I had an appointment and needed to leave by 230. The owner was supposed to come back before I.Left and turned the water back on. He texted me at two twenty seven and said he was about twenty minutes away. I was so mad and I had to go, so I did if they were. Said he'd come back that night later from Bloomington. I guess and turn the water back on, but I said, forget it. I tried to do it myself, and I couldn't, so I spent a night without water. It is so disrespectful, in my opinion to tell somebody. You will be there before they leave. But then don't be there, and they end up having a night without any water. I had new flooring company come out who said as they looked in the bathroom that they had broken my plumbing pipe.Now I have to have that replaced and have a drywall person in to fix that. I asked for a refund of the unspent.Amount I had paid up front. The owner is giving me the run. Around and now he won't respond at all. I have a lot of texts that show everything i'm saying, if anybody wants to see them. The owner told me that I have very unrealistic expectations. That could be true. But when the new flooring guys told me what it would take to fix the problems this company caused, it's less time than these guys already spent here. One of the workers for this company also told me that the they have been working on a job in Champaign for a month and a half, and they're nowhere near done. That's unverified by me. But now I have to sue this guy to get my money back. Also to get money for the plumbing that they damaged.And the drywall repair, which is another three hundred and fifty dollars. Beware. The values you read on their website which say what they are committed to are absolutely untrue, as it relates to my experience with them.

Unfortunately, the sink I wanted to use didn't fit safely but he did everything he could to accommodate my requests. He takes pride in his work and I would recommend him to anyone.
