Went to try this place and very pleased with my experience. Went for lunch after the noon hour with three other tables already seated. Prompt service and clean place. We ordered appetizer toothpicks-fried jalapeño and onions; then I ordered catfish basket with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the fried clams with a side salad. We went here for breakfast this morning after a sister trip. My sister in law was having blood sugar issues and dehydration and they were so sweet and accommodating. I didn't get the guys name but I think he may have been the manager, he called an EMT friend and had them over within minutes to check her vitals. He gave her banana and our sweet waitress brought bread and water continuously. The waitress calmed me while I was scared. After things settled we were able to eat and they continuously came by and checked on her. They were just so sweet and really took care of us. It was a bonus that their food was delicious. I can't believe this place only has 3 1/2 stars on Yelp. It's by far one of the best places in town. I've eaten here several times already and I haven't been disappointed once. The food is always hot and cooked to order. The french dip sandwich is one of my favorites. The roast beef is super tender and flavorful. First time I had a cheeseburger and fries at Sweet T's it was perfect, a big thick juicy burger with fresh lettuce, tomato and onion and crispy fries salted perfectly. Went back several times just for the burger and fries. Just last week ordered cheeseburger and fries and the burger was way overcooked, hard, and dry, the lettuce was a single limp wet green piece of toilet paper and the fries weren't salted. This was a take out order and we went to the beach to have our lunch, 5 minutes from Sweet T's, we were very disappointed. when we started eating. Fries with no salt !!! - I felt Gordan Ramsey's rage well up in me. I've been to Sweet T's several times for breakfast but won't have breakfast there again. For whatever reason, they just can't cook eggs at Sweet T's, they are always way overcooked. If you like your fried eggs crispy on the bottom then you you'll like Sweet T's eggs. Their scrambled eggs are cooked until they're brown on the bottom too and that just ain't right for scrambled eggs. I even asked the waitress one time to tell the cook not to overcook my scrambled eggs but they came brown and dried out despite my request to the cook. And whatever breakfast you get it will be dripping with generous amounts of butter. That's a good thing, usually, but if you're trying to eat healthy, not so much. For me, Sweet T's is a gamble. Sometimes the food is A+ perfect and sometimes it's a disaster. I'm guessing it all depends on who's doing the cooking. read more

Heard a lot of positive stuff about this place so I Decided to order from here for lunch one day. Got a Sweet Salad with fried chicken. Took about 15minutes to get the order ready which is good but upon opening the box I immediately noticed majority of my salad was brown. The chicken was over cooked it was so hard I could not poke it with the fork nor cut it with the knife. I tried picking it up to just break it off with my teeth, wow it was really hard to chew. Lots of stuff fried but you can eat healthy (if you really try!) But I suggest staying with the classic, southern Texas comfort food. And while your at it, you might as well get dessert as long as you are here. What's another 1500 calories at this point? Had previously eaten breakfast there and it was good. Went in last Saturday evening. We both wanted to try the Chicken Fried Steak. Really Bad Choice. Salad - small and just ok. Baked Potato - very good. Vegetable - ok. Chicken Fried Steaks - presentation looked good, but once we cut into them, it was HARD and tasted BAD. The cream gravy was good, but could not make-up for the terribly BAD steak. My guess is, they were previously cooked days or weeks before and then frozen. When we ordered, they dropped the frozen steaks into hot vat of grease for cooking again. No telling how old they were. Certainly were not freshly prepared. read more

SOME dives are worth going inside, this place is definitely not. We came in on a late Sunday morning (around 10:30a) hoping to get some breakfast. The place was not terribly packed, but busy. We decided to sit at the counter and order from there. We were handed menus, and when the owner/manager (and we knew this due to the way she was ordering the wait staff around) heard our daughter tell me she wanted pancakes, she said they were no longer serving breakfast. Fine, ok, we began looking at other items on the menu. We placed our order, and for the next 15 minutes that we sat at the counter, breakfast orders kept flying out of the kitchen. In fact, I overheard one of the tables behind us ordering breakfast - odd right? AND, while we sat there the owner/manager, whatever she is, is absolutely shameful. She continued to berate the staff, and when they would walk away, she would say things about that employee that a manager ought not to say in front of customers. Then, a customer came up to pay his bill, and this wanna-be manager looks at his ticket and then proceeds to yell to the back of the kitchen that the waitress wrote something down wrong, AND THEN told the customer something to the effect of - "she doesn't know what's she doing. I won't charge you for this." Really? Then she began berating another employee again, and then turns to us and says "Right?"... as if we should agree with her opinion. At this point, we told her to cancel our order and her behavior as a manager/supervisor was unacceptable. I don't know who owns this establishment, but you don't put someone in a managerial position if they have absolutely no experience. And if she is in fact the owner, this place won't last long. Who would want to hear her say unspeakable things of her own employees in front of customers??? How could she ever keep any staff?? She clearly is in the wrong position. Ugly begets ugly. We were out-of-towners, visiting the area from Wisconsin and we dropped in on this restaurant looking for a good Texas home-style breakfast for the family. There was six of us and we all found the food to be very good, well presented, and were very happy with the helpful and friendly staff.
