    Coleslaw--delicious! Comes with meal.

Food was delicious but a little pricey. Can't afford to go very often. Maybe once or twice a year. Service was great! Everything super clean! Great view of the Brazos river levy.

Cole slaw and big skillet of cornbread that came with lunch special

This has got to be the best place in Freeport to eat. I had lunch here last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. While it is very close to a branch of the river you can't actually see it from the restaurant due to the levee but that's ok because you will enjoy the food instead. On The River has its own dedicated parking lot and inside offers a casual country vibe to it that includes several dining rooms in the old building that also includes a full bar. From the lunch menu, I chose the beef tips over rice that came with a side of cole slaw and cornbread for $11. First to arrive was the slaw and cornbread. All I can say about the cole slaw was that it was as good as any that I have ever had. Light and slightly creamy it was simply perfect! I loved it. The cornbread is served in a skillet and is large enough for 3-4 people to share. By the way, it tasted very good too. This was a great start to the meal. About 5 minutes later the entree arrived with a bonus. The kitchen decided to add a small bowl of pinto beans as a lagniappe. The beef tips and brown gravy over the rice were very good tasting. The beef was tender, the gravy flavorful and the rice properly cooked. The beans were also flavorful and rich in taste. I really enjoyed both items. Jessie waited on the table and provided excellent service. On The River is where I will eat again whenever I am in the area. I think this is a 4-5 star restaurant and wish they were located in Houston.

Decent shrimp and fries. Boudin balls very tasty. The sand flies were annoying. Got there to late for dessert.

We'll be using y'all again, no question! Highly recommend to anyone looking for catering that brings both flavor and elegance!

I came here, because pre-pandemic shut downs and partial closings one of my bosses gave me various…read moresample sizes from this restaurant during "National Appreciation Job Title" day. I loved the food and munched on it like a starving kitten. Pandemic hits and it severely limits my ability to go to places, but I still had the old flyer. I called the order in ahead and ordered a shrimp poboy for myself, a fish one for my husband and a chicken pasta for my mother. First things first, as its technically a catering company and due to restrictions with dine in service in Fort Bend County, I don't know if the inside will ever be meant for dining service. It seems it's meant mostly for pick up, but on the other hand restaurants are operating differently with the pandemic, so I can't say for sure. Now the food. Portions are huge. Our poboys were large enough that we split them to taste the other person's meal. I felt they were some of the best poboys, I've had. Probably the only better ones are the ones from New Orleans and that's high praise as it's New Orleans influenced dining. If you want to know, I think the fried fish poboy slightly edged out the shrimp poboy. I felt the taste of the shrimp at times got lost, whereas the fish poboy and all of the other components were balanced. However, it's such a slight difference in terms of taste, that you're not losing out if you're eating the shrimp poboy. But if you are eating with someone and they don't mind sharing, I do recommend swapping half your poboy. For my mother's meal, as a picky old lady, she was content, and that's rare. It was a lot of food, it came with vegetables and corn bread. She ate it and didn't complain. To me that's high praise. The only real "knock" as that while the bread pudding is good, I know you can get better bread pudding elsewhere. Also, as it seems to be a start up business, drink options are also limited. However, I think with time there will be more drink options/ As for the bread pudding, people are either going to agree with me or not. It's still good, but I don't think that's the highlight of this caterer/restaurant. The main dishes are what makes this place unique and I'd come here for those dishes or consider this place for events like weddings and bigger parties. The food is good enough to make everyone happy and if it's for a wedding or birthday party it's not like you'll need their dessert as wedding/birthday cakes tend to be ordered at bakeries. Definitely try it, and send me a note if you agree.

I typically have between 4 to…read more8 deer per year processed and due to the convenience of Frank's (close to home and work ) I have tried to use them as my only processor. Service - This is the main reason behind my low rating. It has always been a running joke between my friends and I that the first word out of Frank's mouth when they call to inform you it's ready is "we're out of freezer space and need you to pick it up immediately ". This is normally not an issue for me because it's conveniently located for me but I do travel for work so there have been times when I couldn't get there immediately. Even though I inform them of this when I drop the meat off they still act like it's an inconvenience for them. This year they actually turned down two of my deer because they didn't have freezer space to take them. This was a major inconvenience for me since I depended on their service and didn't have many options. Price - Based on what I've seen, they are on the high side compared to other processors. Quality - The quality is okay but you have to be explicitly clear what you want. As an example, I asked for one of my deer to be boned out last year. I received a 30 pound block of frozen deer in a single bag. This was extremely difficult for me to use in that form. Their summer sausage is good and so is their link sausage. Overall - I like the convenience of Frank's and if you're explicit in what you want then they are okay to use. I feel they should invest in another freezer since this seems to be a major bottleneck for them and turning away business is no way to retain loyal customers. I will likely try to find another processor in the area that needs business next year so I'm not put in a bad position when Frank's has no freezer space.

My coworkers and I wanted to give this place a try after hearing about their huge portions. And the…read moreportion size definitely delivered. HUGE! And that's an understatement. We called in 5 items for our group...they seemed overwhelmed by that like it was too much for them to handle. Yes I understand it's just a food truck in Freeport, but what if a family came and wanted to order? They quoted a 35 minute wait - I came right at that time but the order wasn't ready yet. Ended up having to wait an extra 15 minutes for a total of 50 minutes for a 5-item order. But yes, back on the portions. They give each one to you in an open to-go box since they LOAD. IT. UP. Make sure you have an available seatbelt to secure your food if you plan to transport it back! I got the loaded fries topped with fried chicken, and did it look beautiful. The quantity was definitely there - I can usually eat big portions but could only eat half of this one. I thought the fried chicken meat choice was good, complemented well with the barbecue sauce they load it up with. Everything still crispy and the french fries have a really good batter to them, almost like cake batter. Leftovers go well in the air fryer! Apparently they no longer serve brisket, so my coworker got the loaded fries topped with chopped beef because they told us that's the closest thing to it. Turns out it was not even close. Their "chopped beef" looks more like ground hamburger meat that's chopped up, not bbq-like, so that was a disappointment. Cool to have a unique food truck like this down in Freeport, but there are some things they can work on. I like how you can pay from your car and that they bring your food out curbside. I just wish they wore masks, particularly when taking in-person orders and when walking up to your car window.

I just wanna go ahead and say if you prefer quantity or quality... this place is for you. The…read moreportions are huge ! And not in a good way, the to go boxes are so jammed back they give it to you opened. Another thing. Lots of flavorless food.... I ordered hot mess burger and it was so dry, given it comes with thai sauce of some sort, the beef is extremely dry and flavorless like cooked with no seasoning. The bread was so cold and dry it basically crumbled into powder as soon as i bit into the burger. The fries are fried with what seems like just flour and no seasoning, again. The ingredients in the burger are not enough compared to the big beef patty. The to go box is just filled with the fries which does not look appetizing. There's several other places that have better quality food.
