9/10 for this place. It has made leaps and bounds to better itself from the start. I haven't been in about 2 years or so but I went recently to both shops end it was much much better. In the beginning I thought it was just a pretty boy opening a coffee shop in Brooklyn. This place is beautiful and alot of thought and intention has went into the design and layout. The coffee was 9/10 and that was a big plus from when I came here 2 years ago and got a very mid coffee that was definitely subpar but this is not the case. If they keep going in the right direction I will be sure to add the 5th star. read more

I was waiting for a food order nearby and was looking for a place that did matcha. This place popped up. It is an interesting space because it is very long (it is not too narrow but if you are not paying attention, you think the space is smaller than it actually is). There is a long table at the back with seats and wifi is available. The people serving were personable. One was giving recommendations on places to visit in other neighborhoods to other guests. My matcha was good. It was wonderfully mixed and pleasant to drink. I think people should come here more for coffee as they had more options and specials related to that. There are so many coffee shops, so in my opinion ambiance and service really set apart the gems from the skips. Unfortunately, because the decaf options were totally limited to store-bought tea (one of a few things the barista was very curt and unfriendly about) and the vibe was generally not welcoming or cozy, I wouldn't recommend this one. It was quite cold inside, which was disappointing as I was really paying for a warm place to work on a frigid day. The music was pretty loud and aggressively bad, and I say that as someone who is open to many different kinds of music, it was literally distracting me from my work and I couldn't play my own headphones loud enough to drown it out. The decor was pretty run of the mill, but the patio does look cute for warmer weather. I am a sucker for a cute cafe with a mom and pop vibe, or even a more corporate but well-designed coffee shop with a creative menu. This place wasn't what I was looking for sadly. read more

Whatever the season, whatever the reason, Sweetbee has a caffeinated treat to make your day better. From hot honey cinnamon lattes to warm you up during the freezing winters, to iced chai lattes to cool you down on a hot summer day, they have every thing to satisfy your beverage cravings! I'm a local in the neighborhood and take so much comfort in the fact that sweetbee is close by. My favorite is the miel (honey cinnamon), but they also have seasonal signatures. I'm personally not a fan of the Sweetbee latte (lavender honey), as it tastes a bit soapy to me. They have a lovely interior but an even nicer backyard section! Go stop by sweetbee the next time you are in clinton hill! One thing to note, in the past, sometimes the service has a bit cold and unfriendly. I stopped in on a weekday morning to grab an iced mocha latte (with soy milk). It's a cute little cafe with seating towards the back. There was one barista behind the counter but he was very fast making drinks and very nice. He helped explain the seasonal menu and made recommendations. Ambiance : 5 stars Service : 5 stars Food : I didn't purchase food but I did get a tea and it was delicious and was re filled and still potent with flavor. Maybe I'll try some of the other food options next time- not sure what they have but I'll check. Customer service was really good. The ladies I met gave me a warm welcome. I forgot there names but I will come back and edit when I visit and add them to this review. Overall this is a nice upscale cafe , hidden gem which I pray it stays that way. But it's really nice and quiet and has a nice artsy cozy vibe. Lots of outlets near seating area to work from and or sit and just decompress and get away from the noise or just sit and enjoy your own solitude. They have a back yard space for seating and a small seating area in the back which I like. I'll be back here and will continue to as I love the dynamic. read more

It was a nice Sunday afternoon but ending up such a bummer experience with Sweetbee store. They should not accept any online orders if it was anticipating selling out in prior. Recently visited on two different occasions and both experiences had exceeded my expectations. The cafe itself is so beautifully designed and very welcoming upon walking in. The price points are extremely fair given the quality of their drinks and the skill level of their baristas. I had the pleasure of enjoying their signature Sweetbee latte (pictured), which is a perfectly balanced blend of honey & lavender that was unexpected yet so dreamy. The temperature was also just right, as I was able to indulge in this lovely drink right away without it getting cold by my last sip. Was also lucky enough to be able to snag one of their last candles that they light in the cafe, the scent is intoxicating without being overpowering. I wanted to really like this place. Like really, and truly, with all my heart. I think I just came here on a really off day. The place is aesthetically cute if you're just in here briefly, but if you're here to stay, it's got the aesthetic and feel of a hotel lobby, which is both good and bad. It's narrow, and there aren't too many seats unless you go outside but I'm writing this review from February, so that's not really an option, even with climate change. The bathroom is cute and great for selfies. The menu is odd, they have "seasonal drinks" as an option on the menu, but when I asked the barista, they told me that they, in fact, had no seasonal drinks. I ended up getting a sweetbee, which is a lavender latte, and I believe has honey in it. For me, it was just overly fragrant and tasted like what I think a melted candle would be like. And yet all those things are not what I'm docking stars for. But rather, the environment itself. It got busy and there was only one person working the entire store. At first, when I came in, my impression was that the barista was just grouchy (and not in an endearing way), but it was eventually apparent that they were overwhelmed with how many customers they had, and that the workload was taking a toll. When they talked, it sounded like every customer interaction was shaving a year off their lifespan, and only with great effort were they able to respond. At one point, they messed up an order and ended up breaking down in tears. It was upsetting to witness, and I hope the barista is able to get the support they need. I get that this is a small business and that things are expensive these days, but I hope that the owners choose to hire more help around the shop. read more

This is the most pretentious coffee shop I've ever been in! The owner is an arrogant jerk, and the baristas act like they don't want to be there. Today I learned that they now don't allow laptops Friday thru Sunday? Are you kidding me?!? Friday is a work day! It's not like this place is slammed and me and my laptop were taking seats away from other customers. The coffee here isn't even that good. I literally watched my rude barista mix water and concentrate right in front of me. I only came to this place because it was close to my apartment, but I won't any longer. I doubt this place will survive, because it treats its customers like shit, and in today's economy, you can't do that anymore. I never right bad reviews but this one is long due! I just want to quickly respond to the owners comments: Yes, we have met multiple times at your coffee shop and you have never said hello nor extended a warm greeting. This may be a story I'm telling myself, but I think it's because i don't have the trendy look you want in your clientele or I'm not a woman. You did once tell me "aren't those great!" when I bought an almond croissant rather than asking me how I liked them or soliciting any feedback about your food and drinks from a consistent customer. I would understand the no laptops thing on Saturday and Sunday, but Friday is a work day! I also usually bought two coffees and one pastry when I did work in there and I was there no longer than 2 hours. I mean people buy one coffee and gab for hours or watch videos on their phone for hours. Are you kicking those people out? Mixing water with concentrate is not going above and beyond lol. I can do that myself with concentrate from Trader Joe's. Your cold brew usually is stored in a large container and I assume is precisely measured to have specific amounts of water and concentrate for consistent flavor. The barista just eyeballed it when he mixed water and concentrate which hinders consistency. That is another issue with your cold brew is that the flavor is inconsistent. The barista who served me was also extremely gruff and quite rude when sharing the laptop policy to me, a repeated customer. Barking at a customer about this policy is just not how you should communicate to people. I do like your space and I think you did a great job with the design. I'll add a star for that. I did like working there for the ambience and the croissants (from Balthazar I believe). But you and some of your baristas come off as super pretentious. The fact that you don't allow laptops on certain days because you are "cafe" reeks of pretentiousness. This bad review was a long time coming, but the laptop thing sent me over the edge. read more

The staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe of the place is superb. Despite having a nice backyard and a warm interior, you can tell that this establishment is frequented by regulars because of the people who work there. I will definitely be returning. read more

This place is SO CUTE. Service was fine, coffee was delicious ($8 for a seasonal latte which seemed a little steep). The space is why I will keep coming back. I have lots of breaks throughout my work day and I'm always looking for places to hang out between meeting clients. Sweetbee is my new favorite spot in all of Brooklyn. The indoor area is super cute, with a big yellow couch and several little tables - but the back garden is where it's at. There's a big table, a few small tables, and cushioned benches along the back fence. The garden is full of plants (it is a garden, after all), and music plays softly for a speaker above the door. They do keep it super hot inside - not sure if they've shut off the AC for the winter or what, but the weather outside was perfect anyway. They do have a sign up that says no laptops on the weekend, but you can work in the garden. I imagine it is a nice place to work during the week. When I went at 9am on a Saturday it was not at all crowded. There is no bathroom and the closest one is several blocks away - def something to keep in mind. read more
