We decided to stop and check it out. It's a cute shed-shaped building with the unique characteristic of being a chalkboard! I haven't seen this at any other restaurant. The bottom half is coated in a chalk friendly blackboard paint, and sidewalk chalk sits on the counter allowing you to draw on the ground or even the ice cream shop while you wait. There is also a nice seating area off tot eh side with lights overhead. The hard ice cream is thankfully Perry's like many others in the region, but the flavor list isn't too long. However it does have some flavors I haven't seen at many other places, like Grasshopper Pie (which I got and love), pineapple orange, and peach! They also offer sundaes and drinks. Despite being off the main business road for Lakewood, I can see this being a popular spot due to its proximity to the new Chautauqua Harbor Hotel and Lucille Ball Park.

Today we arrived and we're greeted by Mindy. I was cautiously optimistic, but right off the bat things we're looking promising. She seated us in our favorite area and advised us on the menu and specials. We ordered drinks and Shrimp Cocktail and Lobster Bisque app. The drinks, ambience, appetizers and company were all perfect. Then we ordered the mains. We had the Seafood Medley with asparagus and broiled Cajun haddock with broccoli. Both arrived in good time, cooked perfectly. We were given good portions, not skimpy like some places. We don't often get dessert, but when Mindy told us they were made in-house and the coconut pie was gluten free, we had to. I ordered the peanut butter pie. Both were a perfect ending to a wonderful experience. I don't often review, but I had to this time because it was so good. Also, I had one of their breakfast sandwiches and found it to be one of the best I've ever had; totally delicious, and totally satisfying. Plus, the outback picnic benches were ideal for me to enjoy my meal. The only problem is some totally inconsiderate patrons who will pump their gas or diesel, then leave their vehicle sitting at the pump and go inside to shop or eat.
