Before this compounding pharmacy was opened in the Charleston area (actually way out Highway 17-North near the newer Costco in Mt. Pleasant, SC), a physician needing compounding would need to have a Columbia, SC compounding pharmacy prepare the medication. Faxed by my doctor and within 3-4 hours, I received a telephone call that it was ready. So off I went for a 40 minute drive to the outer bounds of Mt. Pleasant. The building is new, clean inside and out, with parking at the door. Only one other man was looking at the numerous items on the shelves inside, so I was very quickly served by a nice young lady, my credit card swiped, and off I went with written and verbal instructions with my medication. Quite easy and without any glitch or hesitation. Yes, I will return if I need another compounded medicine. Otherwise, I would not be traveling through the heavy Mt. Pleasant traffic to get there, even to this efficient, locally owned business. read more

Totally incompetent. DO NOT USE. My experience with Sweetgrass Pharmacy at Carolina Park on July 3, 2026 was unacceptable. While I was traveling, my wife attempted to pick up my prescription on my behalf. I personally spoke with three different pharmacy employees from an airplane trying to determine where my medication was. I was repeatedly told the prescription was still at my health clinic. That was wrong. My health clinic confirmed the prescription had been sent back to the pharmacy hours earlier. Despite that, the pharmacy still claimed not to have it, and my wife was unable to pick it up. This reflects a serious breakdown in communication, prescription tracking, and basic pharmacy procedure. Had this been insulin, seizure medication, heart medication, or another time-sensitive medication, the consequences could have been far more serious. South Carolina law requires pharmacies to maintain proper prescription records and dispensing documentation. In my case, the pharmacy could not accurately account for the status or location of my prescription and repeatedly gave incorrect information. Patients deserve accurate information, competent service, and confidence that their medication can be located when needed. Based on this experience, I have completely lost confidence in Sweetgrass Pharmacy and will be transferring my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

My wife went to Walgreens to pick up a prescription for my grandson's ear infection. When she got there, they had no prescription. She supposedly called MUSC pediatrics in Mount Pleasant and said despite two people confirming it was sent to Walgreens it somehow got sent to sweet grass Pharmacy on 1952 Long Grove Dr.. at that point I said I'd pick a prescription up. I drove around for five minutes. I could not find a pharmacy at that address. I then parked at Musc pediatrics parking lot and walked around in the rain and could not find it. I then called sweet grass. They told me they'd moved. I got the directions and drove up the street past the restaurant, basil. When I got there I heard the voice. I talked to on the telephone and they started take care of me when I asked them when they moved. They said four years ago I told them I looked it up on yelp and this is the address I got and I've been driving around all that time once I heard the word yelp they seem to be friendlier. Everything essentially went well. They had a problem with the prescription I had to pay cash for it, but thank God it was generic I I can't believe then four years. I'm the only one that got the wrong directions from Yelp that was the only downside of the entire experience. read more

In the past, I have recommended Sweetgrass pharmacy, Mt Pleasant, SC especially for those with pets. They have a vet certified pharmacist. I have had really good experiences getting compound meds and other OTC items from them. This time they have disappointed and flat out lied to me on medication. At the beginning of the week, I was told they had to order a component to compound the drug and the company does not provide tracking and it just "shows up". I asked, "do you think you can have this by the end of the week because I will run out?" I get told maybe and to callback later in the week. I called on Thursday and was told that the mixing component needed to compound the drug was in. I gave my credit card and was told it could be delivered to my home. I explain again I need to know that it will be ready and will get here by the end of the week as I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MEDS TO GET THROUGH THE WEEKEND. I will run out. I also made it clear that I can come to pick it up if waiting for delivery means I have to wait until Monday. I am reassured all is good. It may make a Friday delivery. I call back on Friday and explain my pet is running out of meds and will not get through the weekend. Is it ready? I am told no, maybe on Saturday. Well, today is Saturday!! I call and ask again and I am told that it will go into mixing at 4pm today. I again explain that there are not enough meds to carry us through Saturday and into Monday morning. I am told it should be ready at 5pm today. I ask when do you close and the girl tells me 6pm. I let her know I will leave work early and come pick it up. I arrive at 5:10pm and THEY ARE CLOSED!! On the door says closing time for Saturday 5pm!! You have left an animal with no meds and you FLAT OUT LIED TO ME ABOUT TIME OF STORE CLOSING. SHAME ON YOU. I WILL NEVER USE YOU AGAIN. read more

Such a cool place to have as a pharmacy. I never actually considered using a small, local pharmacy- for some reason, I had imagined that it would be much more expensive and limited...not at all!! They take my insurance (Tricare) so I don't pay a dime more for my prescriptions than I would at CVS or any other chain. And they are very friendly and attentive. I was introduced to Sweetgrass Pharmacy when my toddler could not swallow his medicine which he REALLY needed. His pediatrician recommended this pharmacy because of their compounding abilities...they were able to not only flavor the meds, but also DE-BITTER them. This is huge for any parent. It saved us a lot more heartache in that experience with my son. And I learned that my preconceptions about a small local pharmacy were wrong! I'll probably never use a CVS or Walgreens again to fill prescriptions. read more

Yesterday, I was in dire need of getting a prescription filled for an antibiotic before the hurricane hit. Every chain pharmacy in Mount Pleasant was closed. Urgent Care suggested I call Sweetgrass, and when I did, the pharmacist told me she would stay open until I got there. AMAZING! She was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable when I got there, and Sweetgrass just has that "down-home pharmacy" feel. I'm ashamed I haven't been there in the past, but it will be my go-to from now on. read more

What a great local family owned pharmacy, where attention to detail & the customer is paramount. When one walks through the door, the feeling is that of an intimate private attention to your requests and needs. No question is treated with disdain, only an eager ability to answer all questions about OTC, alternative medicines, herbals or prescriptions. The customer service is fantastic without being overpowering or pushy. I love the fact that it is locally owned & the staff remember you and immediately come to your attention. Very knowledgeable about all sorts of medications. You pay for what you get, so it is going to be a little more pricey. Pharmacists are so up to date with medications, prescriptions, dosages & frequency. They are your friend and advocate, so if something is not quite right about the prescription, they will question it. This is so much more true with a family run, local store because they have the time and interest in your well being unlike the cooler atmosphere at most big pharmacy corporations, as they see probably hundreds of prescriptions and people per day. As I say you pay for what you get and in my opinion it is well worth it. You certainly should give this very cute pharmacy a try. I know it will become your 'go to' for prescriptions, alternative supplements and the like. I am so glad that I found this hidden gem in Seaside. read more

I was looking for pain relief for my lower back (3 surgeries) and a bad hip. Cynthia recommended the CBD cream as well as the sublingual tinctures drops. I have to admit that I was VERY skeptical that either would help me BUT they did!!!!! My husband has a bad knee and he is trying to avoid surgery so I had him try the cream and he was amazed as I was to get relief so quickly. Great small business. The line/wait is never long and they offer exceptional customer service. Recently was prescribed a very expensive drug ($450) by my doctor. The pharmacist very quickly alerted me to the cost and suggested an over the counter alternative that was just as effective. After double checking with our doctor who agreed, we paid only $3. COUNT YOUR PILLS..! Generally, I've always enjoyed using this pharmacy. People seem pretty friendly too, however; you had darn well better check your pill counts as they will partially fill a prescription and utterly fail to inform you. So, you walk out the door with less than a full prescription and nobody tells you. If you are going overseas for several months this can be unpleasant to discover abroad. On two separate occasions my doctor specifically wrote my prescription for 90 days, and they shorted me 60 pills without any consultation whatsoever. Very unprofessional indeed. When I caught it, they said my insurance would cover only 30 days. On both occasions had I not audited my prescriptions before leaving their shop, I'd have been seriously inconvenienced. On another occasion, they shorted me 20 blood pressure tablets on a 90 day prescription....they even hand wrote the shortage on the pill bottle. When I went back in months later to get the remainder, they refused to give them to me....and had absolutely no record they shorted me. If you use these folks, take a little extra time to do some accounting before you leave....and better yet, before you go to pick up your prescriptions call them and have them confirm they have not shorted you, otherwise you might be making two trips, or standing around for half an hour while the sort things out. read more
