There is something about the chocolate they use that is so uniquely delicious, it absolutely cannot be duplicated. This weekend, I tried the peanut brittle for the first time and it's SO good! The service at SS is always stellar and the prices are fantastic to boot. Sweet Sensations is definitely perfect for any day of the year, and they've quickly become a holiday staple in my family. Peanut butter cups are $2 each, but really good, savory and sweet at the same time and they're good sized, too. Reese's peanut butter cups, they are not. Chocolate-dipped pretzel rods and the dark chocolates are melt in your mouth good. Great selection of chocolates, enough to satisfy anyone' sweet tooth. I call it gourmet chocolate, not the variety you find in the candy aisle at Meijer. Just call it an indulgence because it isn't something you buy everyday. Some might wonder why anyone would pay $2 for a peanut butter cup and they would be right to think it's silly and maybe even frivolous, but it's a treat and not an everyday thing. If it was, then that probably be different story. And their chocolates are better than the store bought variety. They have a stand at the Flint Farmer's Market in downtown Flint.

Now back to the review, the cake was delivered while myself and my friend (the person being surprised) were out of Lansing. Blumchen called my friend to let her know that they had a delivery that "was perishable" (My friend had no idea she was receiving a cake). But since we were not there, Blumchen didn't have access to the apartment building and was going to leave the "perishable" item in the shade, outside. I think they thought that through though and somehow found a way inside and delivered the cake to the front door. We had a friend go pick the cake up to put it in the refrigerator until we got back. Once we we back, we opened the box and saw a beautiful cake. I don't know how much it cost; the cake was better than a regular store bought red velvet cake because it was not overly sweet and the icing was also balanced. It feels like I have been tying forever so I'm going to end this review with my personal stamp of approval (make sure the person will be home for delivery though).

The two ladies in the shop were extremely polite and kind, they welcomed us and answered all of our questions. I witnessed them go above and beyond for another customer that needed a sugar-free flavor that wasn't always available. Even though they were packed and very busy, they made the shaved ice promptly and it was absolutely delicious. It was a soft ice and delicious flavor. We will definitely look into renting Local for her birthday parties coming up.
