Normally when we travel, we always find the closest Starbucks, but this trip was different. Sweetwaters is located on the first floor of the hotel, and it was one of the only alternative coffee shops I have enjoyed besides Starbucks! Incredible customer service and hours of operation were fantastic even for a mid afternoon pick me up. An amazing spread of breakfast items from pastries to breakfast sandwiches, to cheesecake and brownies. I appreciated that the sandwiches were customizable and able to be ordered to go. The sandwiches were part of a $6 drink + sandwich deal. My go-to is an iced Americano, and I loved that they had multiple espresso options. Too many times I'm left trying a bright, citrus-forward Americano, only to throw it away. They had a medium roast and dark roast. I chose the dark roast option, and it was an Americano I enjoyed. We really enjoyed the midnight roast, which was in the hotel room in K-cup form. Brewed in person, it was just as good as we brought a bag of beans home. We also ordered the oatmilk chai, iced dragon (like a Frappuccino), and iced oatmilk latte. All received great reviews from those who consumed them. The Frappuccino-like beverage had sweetened condensed milk in it too! While not ordered, they had plenty of fruit-based beverages and teas. Food Allergies were present, but the staff were super accommodating and patient as we made our requests for clean pitchers and reading product labels! Both my boys were able to order beverages. Oat milk was an option, but I'm unsure of their gluten-free food options. ---------------------------------------------- Perspectives from "whiskey_with" (IG and TikTok) Whiskey_with food pairings, friends, coffee, distillery tours, bonfires, and good vibes. Ordered a triple oat milk latte, 4 shots, Abianno bean, iced jasmine iced tea. $12.50 :/ The jasmine green tea is good ad expected. The triple oat milk latte.

Stopped in here for a mocha and a breakfast bagel. Both were very good. This place was packed so definitely a popular place

Stayed at the Olive Ann Hotel for a long weekend and got the same order at Sweetwaters for breakfast every day.

The menu is clearly marked for various food restrictions, which (as a long time gluten-free diner) I really appreciate. I got the featured salad, honey and spice, which was nice, but not mind blowing. The honey mustard dressing was just okay and the blackened chicken was not very flavorful. They left off the walnuts - I had to go back and get them when I realized they were missing. The ordering process was surpringly perfunctory - you have to know what you want, they apparently aren't there to help. And, when you go to through the line, you get no opportunity to customize your order, unless you shout over the partition. When I got to the dressing station, she asked me if I wanted the recommended amount of dressing - how could I possibly know what that is? My biggest complaint, besides the indifferent service (considering they just opened a few days ago, you think they'd be trying to ensure people have a really positive experience), was the surly attitude I got when I expressed a concern about gluten: you can get chips or bread at the end of the line and I asked for chips, but the person waiting on me reached for the bread, and I said, "don't touch the bread before you touch my chips." She got very offended. Among other things, she said "you have to ask for allergy accommodation at the beginning of the line." I think ensuring my food isn't cross contaminated is reasonable at any point in the ordering process. I've been gluten-free for 25 years and I've gotten poisoned by careless people so many times. Her attitude was really off-putting. Next time, I will use the app, so I can easily customize my order and I don't have to interact with the staff. ADDENDUM Someone immediately contacted me from the restaurant and offered me a coupon for a return visit, which I very much appreciate (though I have not had a chance to redeem it, and hopefully change my impression of the service).
