If I had to highlight my favourite clothing store in Edmonton, I wouldn't have to think twice about choosing Swish. I've been shopping here for a quite a few years now, including at their former downtown location. The owner and her staff have done an amazing job making the space feel like a welcoming treasure hunt. They always happy to offer suggestions if needed or allow you to browse on your own. Since everything here is one of a kind, I have my best luck when I'm not looking for something specific. The price range is extensive - you can find regular priced dresses for $50 but they also sell some luxury designer items for $1000+. Truly something for everyone. If you're looking for a deal, I recommend keeping an eye on their social media and looking out for their blowout sales. read more

This place is still the tops. I like they move the displays around a bit so you see different things each time you go. They have a lot of vintage designer shoes and clothing, fur coats, wedding dresses, just so much good stuff. Do yourself a favour and look in the drawers and bowls to find even more stuff. Earrings and lace gloves and mirrors. The hat selection is amazing but it's the shoes that bring me back from manolo blahnik, to Dior. My favourite purchase from there is still 80s cowbow boots that I get compliments on every time I wear them. I love the owner Angela, she is really open about where she does her collecting and is a super interesting lady. A chat with her and a gander in Swish always a treat. read more

I've shopped here several times and the staff & owner are always so pleasant. This place is a full destination and you can easily spend an hour looking at all their treasures. While it's mostly women's vintage clothes, they have allot of accessories for both men and women, housewares and jewellery. Definitely worth checking out their new location! read more

I spent a delightful bit of my lunch hour today wandering through this chic little antique store downtown. I admit that I definitely want to go back and linger some more over the diverse antiquities. Amidst all the memorabilia I discovered memories of my own childhood (dare I date myself and say that I remember several items from the late 70s?) that I reminisced about with the co-worker I dragged with me into the store. The quaint little shop had everything from furniture to pictures to lighting to clothing to accessories and so on (and I did see something that I will go back and purchase for my Asian collection). I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Angela Larson, the owner of Swish. And she fits the charming image of the store's slogan: Vintage Finds for Your Sassy Self. Swish is a cute little vintage shop located just across from the downtown YMCA gym and close to City Centre. It's a stone's throw away from the office for me, so I occasionally like to wander in and peruse the latest knick-knacks. The shop is a treasure-trove of feminine vintage finds: jewelry, shoes, clothing, furniture, handbags, housewares and lots more. And hats -- oh my goodness, the hats (I kinda have a thing for hats)! The wall behind the till is a beautiful display of hats, the kind that are perfect for Sunday church or special occasions like that. I don't go to church but if I did, I would totally wear one of these headpieces! I always see a few items that remind me of my childhood and make me smile. Walking through this shop is kind of like walking down memory lane and hunting through someone's yard sale at the same time :) Another favorite thing of mine here is the collection of cooking aprons -- simple cotton ones, frilly organza ones, and in all kinds of different prints. So pretty! I've resisted buying one so far, but no more ... they're just do darn cute! And vintage Chanel coats and dresses ... I'm pretty sure I saw a pair of vintage Manolo Blahniks one day too ... need I say more? read more

After a horrible experience at Artworks I wasn't exactly thrilled at the thought of visiting another downtown specialty shop but Swish managed to warm my heart much like the who's of Whoville did for the Grinch at Christmas time. The lady working the front counter was super friendly and after I explained to her that I had walked past the store a million times but had never actually stopped in she proceeded to tell me about the store and what types of inventory they had. I have to say for such a small store they have certainly managed to get a healthy inventory of clothing,furniture,jewellery,dishes,etc. I was pretty interested in what looked like an old school barbie doll but alas she was quite expensive so I settled on a stick pin that to my delight looked exactly like one I remember my mom having that she used to let me wear when I was young. Vintage isn't for everybody and I think you have to be a committed collector to really understand the value of the items and how they come up with the prices for them that they do. However if you love the styles and it's something that really interests you then I strongly encourage you to check out Swish to satisfy your vintage cravings. read more

Oh my! What a treat. I have to admit I didn't buy anything on my first visit but many pieces are on my mind and I know I'll be back there soon. There's a pair of boots calling to me... I could spend hours in here (and it's not a big place). If you love vintage you will love this. I had to touch or hold so many things...the Samsonite luggage, the ancient but beautiful Hudson bay shoes, the exquisite dishes that I was afraid to touch because they're so fine...and for a high end store in Manulife place the customer service was very friendly and non intrusive. Helpful but not following. This will be one of my new favorites. Not to mention the costume jewellry, if you're part magpie like I am there's tons here to look at and adore.... read more

This place is a little hidden gem. It doesn't stand out so it is really easy to walk past it on the street. The shop is small. So it's a bit tight and crowded. Take you time here. It is full of treasures. The staff are always friendly and the owner is very knowledgable. So if there is something you are looking for just ask! Some prices are a bit high but I find usually stores like this are. It's not a thrift store, they source quality vintage items. read more

This adorable vintage shop is right downtown, but if you didn't know it was there, you could almost pass by without noticing it. It was kind of awkward when I walked in. There was a film crew inside shooting some images of different items and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be inside the shop or not. The owner waved me, but I wasn't allowed to move past the crew until they were done. There were some really pretty skirts in here, but most of the clothes were nothing special. There was a small bin of free stuff, but A) nothing good ever comes out of a bin of free stuff, and B) it was really difficult to sift through. I do like vintage, and the accessories were pretty sweet, so all in all this spot's a 3/5. read more

After reading some of the great reviews here I was really excited to check out Swish. I'm not a huge vintage store fan usually because the stuff really isn't that awesome and I usually find them way too crowded and sure enough Swish was exactly that. I found really there wasn't anything clothing wise much more special than you can find at Value Village just here it is way more pricier. I did find this very cool wedding dress from the 50's and thought it would be amazing to add to my collection for photo shoots however when I inquired about the price not only was it crazy expensive but the zipper was completely broken and would have to be replaced (according to the owner someone tried it on who shouldn't have). I can understand that happening but in that case I don't think it is fair to ask top dollar as I have seen gorgeous dresses similar on Etsy and other online sites for way less with no repairs needed. Maybe I have too high of expectations from vintage shops after experiencing very cool ones in Boston but I wouldn't waste much time checking this place out. read more

A very beautifully selection of some of the rarest vintage jewellery I have ever seen in one store. It would take hours to examine each piece. I went looking for cat eye sunglasses with rhinestones. There they were staring at me. The shop owner let me try them on. They broke in my hand. I thought I was going to die, shop owner said don't worry about it and said the plastic was very old. I bought a beautiful pair of pink rhinestone button earrings. Oh I cannot wait to return when I have more time to browse. The vintage dresses are magnificent, straight out of the 50's. This shop is one of the cutest vintage shops in Edmonton. The shop owner is very sweet and always nice to deal with. There are always great furniture pieces, glassware, and overall a nice selection of home goods. I have many pieces from this shop that I love. If you work downtown, you should definitely stop in over the lunch hour and enjoy! Jenna-Marie's comment below about the shop not having anything special for clothing is incorrect. I don't find something every time I go in, but this is the case with any vintage shop. I wanted to bring up this comment because I actually ended up purchasing the wedding dress that she is speaking of. Angela, the shop owner, graciously offered a discount for the broken zipper because she knew I would need to repair it. The fun of shopping for vintage is the thrill of the find! There is a price point and variety for most shoppers, whether it be fashion, fashion accessories, decor items and some furniture. The best of the best pieces sell quickly, so regular visits are recommended, if not just to say hello to Angela and a be given a quick review of her latest finds. Not all vintage needs to be 100% wearable, there are some pieces that come from estates and are a privilege to own. Vintage is a fabulous shop for pieces that no one else is going to have. It's got all kinds of lovely things, clothes, shoes, furniture and jewellery to name a few. Angela Larson, the owner is a pleasure to talk to and she knows her stuff. I've picked up some fabulous pieces there, both for me and my home, and love it.
