My wife and I booked round trip flights from London to Geneva and back this July. Both directions were bad experiences. On our flight to Geneva we checked in and went to the gate. While waiting to board we were pulled from line by a very rude gate agent named Glory who demanded we check our carry on bags (backpacks) claiming there was not enough space on board for them, and that they were overweight. Both were quite light, which she couldn't have known, so I asked her to weigh them and resolve the concern, but she refused and became very combative and threatened to remove us from the flight if we didn't comply, again claiming there was insufficient room on the plane for our bags, though through all this many other passengers were allowed to board with much larger bags, or in some cases up to 4 carry on bags per person. Eventually we boarded the flight without our bags and made it to Geneva with no further issue. On returning, our flight was cancelled 3 hours before departure while we were driving to the airport. Upon arrival we were told we'd been rebooked for another flight and to go ahead and proceed to ticketing. We went to ticketing and, while in line, checked our app and learned that the flight we'd been booked on was the following day, over 24 hours later. We returned to the Swiss help desk and explained we were flying out of London returning to Denver the following morning and the rescheduled flight would not get us there in time for our flight home. He replied "that's not my problem" and directed us to leave his desk. We ended up taking a series of trains from Geneva to London and made our flight home the next morning. We filed a request for a refund of our cancelled ticket cost, as well as compensation under EC 261 to offset some of the train ticket cost (roughly $1700 USD). We were initially denied any compensation under the pretense that our flight was cancelled due to weather, though there were no major storms that day in either location and all other flights on that route (I found 6 others) all went successfully. We filed a request for investigation with the federal office of civil aviation (FOCA). About 10 days later we were told we'd be refunded our ticket price, and they would pay the difference between that and the train cost in light of our FOCA complaint. The entire event was frustrating, and resolving the financial dispute took considerably more time and energy than I detailed above. Suffice it to say that this was one of the worst experiences I've had with an airline and I will avoid Swiss whenever possible for future travel! read more

Rather, my luggage (which was brand new) no longer locks, was scratched on all sides, and jars of jam were broken open -- stained and soiled the interior of the suitcase and my clothing - a real mess. i cannot use the luggage again as there is no way to secure it. They only give you the run around so far -- 6 days on in trying to resolve this issue with them. The flights were just OK - not great food or entertainment options or legroom. Swiss airlines knew this was not enough time to load the luggage from Greece to the final destination of Chicago, IL but they laid out this flight anyway. What a nightmare airline, where to begin...? Originally scheduled to fly ORD - ZRH - PMO on September 28th. ZRH - PMO was disrupted by Italian air worker strikes and the entire trip was rebooked. The rebooking process is where things really fell apart with this airline. Swiss rebooked me on confirmed flight with BA to LHR and then onwards to PMO on September 29th. However... without my knowledge they *also* simultaneously booked me on a United flight departing ORD a day later on the 30th. However only the BA flight showed up in my Swiss app. Got to the airport and was denied boarding on the BA flight and told they don't have a seat for me. Went to the Swiss desk and the first thing they told me was that I was now a BA passenger and they can't help me. This is when I get an automated message from United that it's almost time to check in to my flight, which was surprising to say the least. In addition to the (fake) BA flight, and (maybe real?) United flight I was then booked on my THIRD departing flight back on Swiss, but a day later. At this point I've lost two full days from my vacation, have zero faith that anyone at Swiss actually knows what they're doing, and can only hope that I will in fact be on a flight tomorrow. Swiss agents didn't offer so much as an apology let alone any compensation. Shout out to the BA desk agent at ORD who took pity on me and spent a good 45 minutes trying to find an alternate flight. Swiss International Air Lines, which is owned by Lufthansa, is NOT an honorable corporation. I had two tickets which had to be rebooked due to Covid. The airline told me to just rebook them for a random date later in the year, and then before that date, rebook again to a date when I would be using them. I rebooked them for late May, 2022, and a couple of weeks before the flight date, I asked my travel agent to either rebook or to get credit for future travel. They contacted Swiss and was told that they would convert the tickets to travel credit. My travel agent checked back three times, and was told it was "just taking time". Then, the last time the agent checked, it was the first week of June, and Swiss told them that the tickets expired on May 31, and were now no longer valid. In other words, they "ran out the clock" with a false promise of converting to credit, when all they really were doing was making my tickets invalid. The cost of the tickets was over $2,000, so I ended up paying for new tickets (on a different airline, of course), because I could no longer use the tickets that became invalid. My travel agent swears that Swiss never informed them about the May 31st deadline, or obviously we would have made sure to get the new booking done before then. This is deception and dishonesty. I would advise travelers to use any airline BUT Swiss International or Lufthansa, as they have made it clear that they will cheat a customer given the chance. I travel to Europe frequently, so their "win the battle but lose the war" strategy will in my never flying on their airlines again, and making others aware of what can happen to them if they have to rely on this company's integrity, which is nonexistent. read more

Wow! I can't say enough good things about Swiss Air! I recently flew Swiss on a connecting return flight from a recent Europe trip, through Zurich. I accidentally left my netbook on the flight (containing all my vacation pictures). I had a big brainfart and I was freaking out that I'd never get it back, especially after hearing other horror stories. The gate was already closed and I couldn't miss my flight home, so I had no choice but to wait until I was back in Chicago to file a report. The Swiss Air staff was very helpful and I got my computer back within 2 weeks! I love their planes. Economy is super nice, so I can't imagine how first class is. They have comfy chairs with padded headrests and awesome entertainment. The individual TVs are loaded with new movies, TV shows, and games. Yup, they give you a nifty double-sided remote, one side which is used as a video game controller. The service is exceptional, with nonstop drinks and hot towels. Lunch (which was surprisingly good), ice cream, chocolates, then later a pizza bread snack... I didn't know when the food was going to end. I recently just took my first European trip to France, and I flew Swiss Air. I was really excited about this trip, but so many people warned me about International travel and horrible airlines, so the I did my research before booking a flight. All the reviews of Swiss Air were really great, so even though I had to layover in Zurich I booked the flight with this airline to Paris. Now, I have taken hundreds of of domestic flights, and I have definitely seen the drastic decline in service: No in-flight drinks/snacks, no pillow, flight delays and cancellations due to low booking, etc. I have also had some really great domestic flights, but nothing compared to the service on this airline. I had constant food and beverage service (all free, even the alcohol) the entire 8 hour flight. Every passenger had their own television screen to watch whatever in flight movies they wanted to see, all of which were new releases. There were pillows, blankets, and someone willing to make the flight more comfortable everywhere I turned. Now, sitting on your bum for 8 hours isn't comfortable unless you fly first class, but I actually found the flight really enjoyable! I would recommend Swiss Air to anyone flying to Europe. read more

I love Swiss. Living in London, I would only fly Swiss. The economy section is more than comfortable--esp since Switzerland is the transfer point--and the service is great. Even get snack service (sandwich or similar) on short flights, plus Swiss chocolate! When returning to the States, I flew in Swiss business class. The Zurich-Chicago route is serviced by an A-340 aircraft. The service is excellent, as is the food. The seat, in a seated or reclined position is quite comfortable. However, the sleeping position leaves a bit to be desired. Remember, these are the old flat angled seats, not their new product. Good news is that the Chicago route should have the new product soon, and I believe the NYC route already has it. Overall, it is hard to go wrong with Swiss (esp when compared to US carriers). read more

This is regarding the customer service number. I am a frequent flier of Swiss, as I have flown the LX 8 and 9 ORD to ZRH many times over the last few years. The quality has gone down significantly each year, and I find that my most recent experience has been the worst, especially when speaking with customer service agents. The use of phone agents in India is extremely frustrating to me as a customer. It took 10 minutes to explain what I meant, and the overall message of 'legally, we do not have to do these things' is NOT service oriented at all. In the future, I would rather fly with any other airline than have to speak with the phone agents again. Shame on you, Swiss airlines. read more

I booked my flight to Barcelona through the agency CheapFareGuru for September 26/2016. For some reason they don't set up the seats for my wife and myself and addressed me directly to Swiss Airline. I tried to communicate with Facebook but get the standard answer: "Call our company in Barcelona" ??? Ridiculous. I didn't even fly with Swiss Airline but already got negative impression. After buying two non-refundable round trip tickets to Zurich on Swiss Air, we needed to reschedule the trip due to a medical issue. The tickets had been purchased through Orbitz several weeks prior and now were selling for $300/ticket less. Orbitz stated there would be a $280 rescheduling fee per ticket ($250 by Swiss Air plus $30 by Orbirtz). The rescheduling fee seemed high however I thought this fee would be offset by the lower price of the new tickets. But to my great surprise Swiss Air will only allow a reschedule to a ticket of equal or greater value. So they arrived at a new ticket price that was even higher than my original ticket even though the current fair market value was over $300 less! Plus I had to pay the rescheduling fee. Not paying this ransom meant I would lose the entire cost of the original tickets, over $3000. To my way of thinking, this is horrible customer service. And was grossly unfair. This will be my last trip on this airline. read more

Long flight in economy class from ORD-ZRCH and back. Food was subpar, service fair but airline flight attendant quite rude! I had a row with a rude Indian man in front of me who kept shoving his seat way far back into my stomach and refused to decrease his level of seat back. Almost led to an actual in flight fight. To their credit, they found me a seat in the back with more room hence the additional star. No vegetarian option on the return flight back from Zurich and the beef was disgusting. The seats are SMALL and provide little comfort or lumbar support compared to other international airlines I have flown. Flying 10+ hours in tiny seat was painful. I wanted to upgrade my economy seat to business class for part of the leg flight and they wanted an obscene amount $6000!!!! Are you fucking kidding me? The business seats were not even that great looking from what I saw on the plane. They use OLD outdated aircraft as well. Best avoided. I hate ORD airport to begin with and will choose another better airline for future European travel. Emirates is WAY BETTER than Swiss!!!!! read more

I must concur with the other positive comments. Swiss Air totally rocks! My family of five flew Swiss from Germany to New York (business and economy). It was the most pleasurable flight ever. The staff was awesome, the food never ended and the seats were really comfortable. I truly can't say enough good things about them. I have flown many carriers and they are the best hands down. I hope to take as many flights as possible with them in the future. Good to know some companies are still customer focused. read more

We traveled Swiss Air from Frankfurt to Barcelona via Zurich, recently. This was our first time travel with them. Excellent, superb service! Flight attendants were very, very kind at all times. Their smiles didn't look fake, which was a nice surprise. On the first leg of the trip, although it lasted less than an hour, they served free drinks (including alcohol) and Swiss chocolates. During the second leg that lasted less than two hours we got sandwich, drinks and Swiss chocolate. And for us, the most important fact - we traveled with our two kids, a toddler and a 6-year old. Both got age-appropriate toys on both flights which kept them entertained. When was the last time an US airline gave toys to kids?! We have traveled with different airlines, in Europe as well as in US (Lufthansa, German Wings, KLM, AA, UA, Delta, Southwest, Air France,...). Swiss Air tops all of them. Any of the US airlines can not even come close to them. read more

We bought refundable and changeable tickets directly from the airline. The reality of trying to get the airline to change the travel dates has proved a nightmare. We have accepted to pay the $200 per ticket change fee for each ticket, fine. But it has proved impossible to get them to confirm the changes, and it is not because the new dates are not available (I checked online, they are available, and at the same price). This circus has been going on for a week now, with 3 long phone calls already logged. First they "lost" our new date somehow, then they said it had all been taken care of, but just now we have discovered that it hasn't been done at all because they are "very busy." Our sense is that they are stalling until the price of the new dates rises substantially, and we'll have no other options left. In short: If there is any chance that you'll need to change the dates, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY read more
