From reading…read morethe old reviews it seems like the new owners have really been putting in hard work to bring this place back to life; they are still working on it but everything was clean and amenities have been upgraded from previous photos such as flat screen tv with plenty of satellite channels and a ceiling fan with a remote (which I had to take a picture of because I loved it and want to find one for myself). If you want fancy and new this isn't the place for you but if you are like me and enjoy the motels with midcentury history but modern upgrades, it's a great stay. They accommodated my dogs for a lower pet fee than anywhere else and the customer service couldn't have been any better. I'd definitely stay again.

The receptionist was really helpful giving recommendations on things to do and there were soaps and hats for purchase in the front lobby. It was about a 30 minute drive to Banner Elk where there's a lot more to do/places to eat. We got there around 10:30pm and the office was closed, but our key and room number/instructions were taped to the lobby door in an envelope so we were able to check in without anyone being there which was nice. It's definitely a rural area, there's minimal cell service depending on where you're standing. It's really perfect for disconnecting and getting in touch with nature.

There are  just a few miles from skiing at Sugar Mountain and Beach Mountain, plus surrounded by lots of other things to do. Pottery,  trout fishing, gem mining, tubing, wineries, and lots of great restaurants! This place has three sleeping areas up to 4 adults and 4 kids. The top floor is a queen bedroom loft, with a half bath. The main floor is a nice size living room with a kitchen open floor plan and a full bath. Down below halfway down the stairs is a washer and dryer (laundry area) and at the bottom of the stairs are 2 bedrooms. one with a king-size bed and one with 2 sets of bunk beds for 4 kids and a full bathroom. Full house Central Air and heating. Parking for at least 2 cars out front and additional spots at the club house. Access to the tennis courts, pool, and hiking trails with lots of open space in the area. You can also bring fishing equipment and fish on the Watauga River that runs through the community. Real clean and a gem of a place!

The gym has beautiful views all around and they offer fitness classes as well. The bathrooms and sauna are really clean. They offer massages as well. The coffee machine was my favorite because they have a variety of different drinks that you can make. The property itself has a gate guard and is surrounded by beautiful views all around. The club has basketball, pickle ball, and other activities for the guests to use. The hiking trails are beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxing trip!
