Ashcliff Manor was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains--you truly see how they earned their name. The wildlife made our stay even more special. We saw so many deer, countless birds, a raccoon, and even a bear! The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals, which made it feel like home. One of my favorite parts was waking up in the master bedroom to the mountain view right from the bed--absolutely amazing. We watched lightning dance across the distant sky, enjoyed the beautiful Strawberry Moon, listened as the rain slowly moved across the mountains until it reached us, and even caught fireworks lighting up the distance. Ending the day in the hot tub while taking in the endless mountain views was the perfect way to relax. Every moment felt peaceful and unforgettable. We can't wait to come back! read more

I spent a wonderful weekend here with my girlfriends celebrating a birthday, and the location couldn't have been better. We chose this home because of its proximity to the hiking spots we wanted to explore, and it didn't disappoint. The house itself was lovely, comfortable, and well-equipped. We especially appreciated having a full kitchen for making breakfast together and enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably--perfect for a group getaway. It's also ideally located--just 10 minutes from Blowing Rock with great restaurants, about 20 minutes to Boone, and only 30 minutes from Grandfather Mountain. It made getting around to all our planned activities quick and easy. Overall, this was the perfect home base for a fun and relaxing girls' weekend. Highly recommend! read more

Great experience with the family ( a party of 10 ) as we attended the baseball game at Bristol Speedway. The house was great with plenty of space and beds.. The weather wasn't the best w 55 degrees in August and a lot of Smoky mountain fog but still allowed for great wildlife viewing....( deer ) The rental company was very good with good communication and a staff available until 7pm which was helpful for our arrival as she had to change our door code.... Our family of 16 stayed at the North View Lodge in Banner Elk, and we found there was plenty of space for everyone. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, playing pool, the big-screen TVs, the two living rooms, and the beautiful scenery. During our stay, we spent one day skiing at Sugar Mountain and another day snow tubing, which everyone loved. Hot Water: On a particularly cold day--when temperatures dropped to nine degrees, and there was snow on the ground--we returned from skiing and discovered there was no hot water when everyone was ready to shower. We called Carolina Cabin Rentals, and were so glad they sent someone the following morning to fix it. Snow and Driveway Conditions: That same day, a van carrying several family members took nearly two hours to make it up the snow-packed hill to the cabin, even with chains on the tires. We bought a shovel and rock salt in case it snowed again. We left the shovel there. Kitchen Supplies: Be sure to bring potholders, trash bags, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, dishwashing soap, a sponge, and kitchen towels. We also found there wasn't enough silverware for our group's size, and had to purchase plastic utensils. The coffee pot was too small for our large group - you might consider bringing a large coffee pot. Bathroom Door Locks: The family members staying near the pool table area noted that several bathroom doors did not lock. Front Motion Light: The motion-activated light at the front of the cabin was triggered frequently at night, likely due to wildlife. Unfortunately, the light shone through the blinds into the front bedroom, making it difficult to sleep. A blackout shade in that window could be a helpful improvement for future guests. These are all minor inconveniences, I know, but overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the rustic charm of the cabin and our time in the Banner Elk, NC area. read more

Unfortunately, this experience was unacceptable from start to finish. Upon arrival, the cabin was not ready and was completely uninhabitable. We were forced to pay out of pocket for a hotel, and despite repeated attempts to get help, staff was unable--or unwilling--to assist. No manager contacted us, no solution was provided, and we were never informed that the issue would be addressed that evening. No one showed up. Communication was nonexistent until approximately 1:00 PM the following day, resulting in a significant loss of use. The condition of the cabin was appalling. It was filthy and poorly maintained, with spider webs and spider egg sacs throughout, a widespread stink bug infestation, stained bedding, and beer cans scattered around the yard. The home had clearly not been cleaned between guests. The dishwasher still contained dirt and debris from the previous occupants' dishes, the oven was heavily stained and smelled of old grease, one fireplace was nonfunctional, and the shower was visibly rust-stained. Customer service repeatedly made assurances that the situation would be corrected, but those promises were never properly honored. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic standards was shocking. The partial credit issued was wholly insufficient and did not begin to compensate for the loss of use, additional expenses, unsanitary conditions, or inconvenience. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid Carolina Cabin Rentals. read more

We use Carolina Cabin Rentals for all of our trips to the NC mountains. We tried another service once but quickly realized the quality and maintenance was nowhere near as good as CCR. All of the cabins are clean, the sheets are always fresh, and there are plenty of towels, soaps, dishwasher detergent, etc. There are televisions in every bedroom we've stayed in, and the internet at every cabin has been great. They send informational emails and tips/reminders, which help us pack for our trips. And they are quick to respond if there are any issues or questions. Highly recommend CCR if you are visiting the NC mountains! read more

this place is not for the customer, they work for the owners of the condos not even cabins. i rented a 8 day stay at Holiday Hideaway and I recommend you never rent from them ever. It is not a vacation rental it is a room with code violations, no privacy, no parking, and no customer service. the condo i was in had a threshold between the hall and the living area and it was raised up a bit just enough for you to fall on your face. every time you pass that threshold your guaranteed to fall. that's their first amenities not listed. then the bed is so high you have to get on a chair to get on the bed and if you don't notice the bed being high in the ad, oh well. Window doesn't stay up, sliding doors are off track and ancient, no washer and dryer or fireplace as advertised No air conditioning at all. Parking is impossible. Condos above below and right next to you. stairs stairs and more stairs.. Caroline Cabins needs to remove that condo from their website. It is not making them look good at all. I think it is more the owner of the condo who needs to be accountable or refund my money. But they would not let me talk to anybody but the Rep who answered the phone. They wouldn't even let me pay more money for another rental. I wanted to pay the difference in price, no money out of their pocket at all and they said no sorry about your luck. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!! I would give no stars but that is not a choice. Do not rent from these folks. We have 3 cars that have been stuck at Blue Ridge View, or 609 Saul's Camp Street since January 25th, 2026. We ran out of food and had to hike out of the property to 221 to get help. Carolina Cabin Rental does not provide any plowing or treatment of this road. Chains do not work, so you as a customer left on your own. This is how John from Carolina Cabin Rentals responded to my request for help: "And because you need food and emergency supplies, please contact local law enforcement as they would be best equipped to assist." Today, is February the 2nd and our cars are still there!! So now you can make an informed decision on whether to rent ANY property from this company. This was a lovely escape for two hurricane tired people. Lots of instructions for easy check in. Easy check in. House was amazing. Super clean and fully equipped with EVERYTHING from hair dryer to air fryer. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the quiet or go to basement for game time. Nice outdoor seating set up front and back too. October 18-24, 2025. The home was very lovely and met the expectations as depicted online. The rental manager was very helpful and quickly brought out gas canisters for the grill. There was firewood chopped and ready to light. It was peak leaf season, and everywhere the views were breathtaking. We rented a cabin Boone in April. We took a last minute trip before I started my new job. I booked a cabin through Carolina cabin rentals. It was super easy to book online. The next day I received a PHONE CALL FROM A HUMAN!!! So funny right?? He just wanted to let me know there are humans you can deal with and asked if I had any questions. I ordered some wood since the temps were still pretty cold. I wasn't sure what the cabin would have kitchen wise but the weather was predicted to be cold and rainy and we didn't want to leave once we settled in. That was the point... we wanted to hunker down and relax. We drove the 5 miles into town. Got our provisions and by the time we got back there it was time to enter. omg... I would buy this cabin!!! We loved it!! Everything was clean. It was a newer cabin so you can still smell the wood!! We just really enjoyed the peace and quiet!!! My only regret is not staying longer!! Before you consider renting with this company, I strongly urge you read this. We arrived Friday night. Smelled propane in the garage but the previous group was slow to leave, so we waited patiently and assumed they had just been grilling or active in the patio. We didnt think much of it, the house was very nice looking and we were so excited. Sunday morning is when the heat when out. Followed by no hot water. We have 4 kids, 8 adults sitting in the freezing cold and the best this company could muster up was "we'll refund half a day of your 4 day trip." Everyone, from desk attendant Christina to their manager, Tim, sounded exhausted to speak with us. They also sounded confused when we got angry that they asked us to evacuate at 6 pm in the dark on a snowy mountain. It honestly didn't sound like we were dealing with humans. Brian, another attendant we spoke with, was even laughing and cracking jokes at our expense. What's worse? We find these guys didnt even properly inspect the natural gas before we ever entered the house. We asked why the propane levels were at 5% and they let us in - but after a day of calling more than 12 different technicians and rude representatives, we still have not gotten an answer. We stayed on Beech Mountain, at the 436 St Andrews Rd property. Its been more than 24 hours of this, its ruined our vacation, and my experience with this company. I hope you find some wisdom in this review. Buyer beware - These people, from management Tim to exhausted Christina, do not only value your time or humanity. They don't value your safety. We rented the "Blowing Rock Retreat" cabin this past week, 9/26-10/1/2023. And, although the view is spectacular, the cabin is not. The furniture is old and worn out. We had to use couch cushions on the dining room chairs to sit because the cushions are so worn the wooden edges of the chairs dug into our legs. They need beds that you can actually sleep on. The three main beds were so hard and uncomfortable we all went home exhausted from lack of sleep!! Also, the cabin is filthy dirty. I ran my finger over my headboard and got an inch of dust. My bed sheets looked like they were brand new, straight from the package, unwashed with the folds and wrinkles from being in the package. They were rough, like sandpaper. The front of the fridge looked like it was wiped with a dirty rag. The dining room table looked like it had not been cleaned from the prior visitors. We had to use a burned up pot to cook our spaghetti noodles. The beautiful large windows facing the view could use a good cleaning!! I dropped my phone in the crack of the couch, and pulled out a handful of dirt and debris from the couch arm, so gross. There is visible debris under the livingroom rug. The fireplace in the livingroom only worked for like 10 minutes, then it shut off and would never turn back on. We were able to use the hot tub 1 night and it never turned back on either. We assumed the gas ran out for both. The wallpaper in the upstairs guest bathroom is pealing at every seam and looks awful. There was some old dried red stuff on the side of the tub that resembled blood. The toilet bowl in that bathroom also hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. The shower curtain in the downstairs bathroom had a good layer of mold at the bottom. The cushions on the back porch are filthy as well. Over all, the cabin needs a serious cleaning and upgrades for the amount of money they are charging!!! read more

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Bear At Sugar Mountain. It has a great location close to Banner Ellk, Grandfather's Mountain, Boone and Blowing Rock. We saw deer and mink from the front porch, and enjoyed the fireworks on the evening of July 4th. It is rare to find a home where three bedrooms have king size beds plus a 4th bedroom that is equipped to children. You can also banish the children -- when necessary -- to an upper playroom/loft. We didn't need that amenity as only adults were on our vacation. Everything was clean, well-maintained and furnished, and in great shape. Highly recommended! read more

I stayed in one of the Carolina Cabin rentals for 4 nights - Time Well Wasted. This cabin rates as one of my best rental experience. The cabin was extremely clean and had everything we needed. I really liked how close to town, both Blowing Rock and Boone, and yet we still had mountain views. The beds were very comfortable - and it was nice that the fireplace was gas so that it was easy to enjoy a fire every evening. The property management is the best we've worked with. We stayed at the Blue Ridge Mountain Club, High Meadow Retreat, 264 Calico Court, Boone, NC. July 19-31, 2024. The house is new and modern, extremely nice. It slept 13 even though we only had 4 there. We truly enjoyed the house. The location of BRMC was a little too far out for us. It took 15 minutes from the house to get to the gate, then another 20 to get down the mountain into Blowing Rock. The house is located in the section called The Meadows. A new swimming pool and pickleball courts (under construction) were beside the neighborhood. The BRMC has a well equipped gym and the LookOut Restaurant (open Wednesday-Sunday nights) located 8 minute drive from the house. There were 2 new pickleball courts 5 minute drive from the house. Blue Ridge Mountain Club is a beautiful property. The location was too far out from Blowing Rock for us. read more

I recently stayed at a rental property in The Lodges in Eagles Nest at Banner Elk, NC. The rental home was managed by Carolina Cabin Rentals company. The Eagles Nest community grounds were excellent and well-maintained, particularly in a snowy weekend. I visited the Great Camp. The Cigar and Wine Bar was closed for renovation which was disappointing. The Barbeque Pavilion had s'mores in the fridge. I played with the archery a bit. I'd like to come back in the summer where I think I could get a lot more out of these properties at Eagles Nest. (There were no events in the winter, and many amenities were closed.) The rental property we stayed at was a nice homesite, but I was disappointed in Carolina Cabin Management company's minimalistic stocking of the home. For example, the home, which sleeps 10, had only 10 bath towels. Zero extra, which meant constant laundering of towels. Some people prefer to have two bath towels! It had 3 hot tub towels for a large hot tub that allegedly fit 10 people, with warnings only to use the hot tub towels (not bath towels) for the hot tub. I would have brought my own towels had I known it was to be understocked. I was prepared to bring my own trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, dish washing liquid, etc., but I was not advised to bring my own towels. The home was also lacking in enough pots, pans, forks, knives, etc. to actually feed 10 people, and the dining table (the house's only table) only sat 6. We had to eat in shifts to be able to have enough space and utensils to eat. The den furniture was very worn-out leather and needed replacement. There was 1 couch to seat 3 and 1 chair to seat 1. No other seating options for a house that was advertised for 10 guests. My bedroom had not been adequately cleaned. The main floor had been vacuumed, but dirt, hair, hair ties, dirty tissues, etc. were observed under the bed and behind the nightstands. Nasty! To summarize, the property we stayed at in Eagles Nest was nice, but the management company is seriously lacking in stocking the place adequately and cleaning after each guest. read more

I booked a Cabin on 9/8/2024 to enjoy a Christmas vacation with my children and another family for the first week of December. I also bought travel insurance via RedSky through the company that Carolina Cabin uses and recommended. On October 4th after seeing the devastation that Hurricane Helene caused I called to cancel my reservation as the area sustained too much damage. They were no longer conducting rescue missions but searching for bodies. I contacted the main line and was instructed that since I had travel insurance I would need to contact them. I called RedSky and was told that since I was calling too "early" as the damage had to be sustained within 30 days of my stay they would not honor it. I ended up having to dispute this with my credit card and I am STILL waiting on getting my money back. I have had to call numerous times and have chains of emails back and forth trying to handle this. I received a voicemail from the Carolina Cabins stating that the cabin did in fact sustain damage and they have still NOT processed my refund. BEWARE!!!!! I have spent more time fighting to get my money back almost $1,200 than I did trying to plan a nice vacation for my family. I have had my funds held up and been given the run around for almost 2 months. This is ridiculous and I will NEVER book with this company again I would NOT recommend them to anyone after this horrible experience. read more

After natural disaster, Hurricane Helene, traveled through the area, leaving destruction in it's wake (no power, flooding, no major highways into the area, not to mention a boiling water was in effect for the area) we attempted to cancel our reservation as the government advised all visitors to avoid the area to allow the cleanup and relocation efforts to continue. This organization chose to disregard the state of emergency and told us that the cabin we reserved had no damage and had power and, as such, we would not be getting a refund. This insensitivity towards their own community cleanup, at a time when they are most vulnerable, is absolutely absurd. I cannot support organizations that care more about money than each other. read more

We reserved one of their Airbnb rentals in June 2021 for our January 2022 trip for eight people. We were called the day before arrival that the downstairs shower had a leak that they had just discovered and that it would be inoperable. Upon looking at the listing and reviews, I discovered they had known about this issue sometime in October/November. As you can understand, one working shower for eight people is extremely problematic. Upon arrival at the unit we realized they had only provided 1 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, totaling 2 rolls. When I rechecked the listing, nothing was stated about there being a single roll in each bathroom. It simply stated "Carolina Cabin Rentals, Inc. provides toilet tissue, bath soap, dish soap, and trash bags. You may need to bring supplies from home or plan to purchase these items to be properly stocked for the duration of your stay." Tell me how vacationers know to bring more if the quantity is not stated. Further inspection of the home lead to us finding a full dishwasher that had not been unloaded, a pool table area that was not put away and just an overall lazy setup/staging of the home for our arrival. It didn't feel "clean." Leading up to the stay, the management company sent notifications on potential winter weather regarding needing 4x4 drive and potentially snow chains (as a side note, the week leading up to the stay, snow was seen on weather apps but the days forecasted were inconsistent and changing constantly). When asked if the main roads would be plowed, they had zero answer. Unfortunately, when the snow storm hit Sunday, our power went out. Contacting the management company only resulted in defensive and accusatory responses such as "YOU made the decision to stay and and not leave before conditions deteriorated." It was not until I asked that they eventually supplied the number to the power company. On departure, the driveway was covered by close to 2' of snow and we made another discovery that the property did not supply a snow shovel. As a property that routinely sees snow fall, you would think this simple yet necessary item would be provided. Luckily we were able to borrow one from a neighbor and successfully leave the property. They also provided zero check out instructions via Airbnb as 100% of other rentals do. They are in a binder at the property but in no communication were we directed to the binder and had my other guests not found it, we would've had zero direction on check out processes. As for the shuttle, it's a fantastic service but the management company also has zero clue about it and couldn't even provide the pick up location name. If you're going to promote it on the listing, you at least need that simple detail of information when asked. (It's THE CREST by the way.) Overall, the location itself was great for quick access to Sugar Mtn Ski Resort but everything else was pretty poor considering we paid $689 a night, including the cleaning and administrative fees. Extremely poor customer service!! We booked a cabin for my daughter's 16th birthday through Carolina Cabin Rentals. After learning that the area was devastated by the hurricane, we contacted them to cancel. After 22 days they finally responded and denied our request to be refunded our initial payment of $722. We understood there was a cancellation policy in place, but assumed that - given the situation - they would make an exception. We waited several weeks after the hurricane to see how the area would recover, but a day before we were to be charged the remaining amount of our rental fee ($1400) we had no choice but to cancel. According to government websites, multiple roads were still closed, the area was still under a state of emergency, and it was advised that people stay out of the river directly behind our cabin due to hazardous debris in the water. In addition, all of the trails in the area were closed, as were state parks. None of the parents felt comfortable with their children traveling to this area. After CCR denied my refund request, I emailed them explaining I had researched the area's current situation (even including links to government websites with the info). They emphatically told me that schools were open and that they would not be refunding my money. I then explained to them that I did not plan to enroll my child in school there and reiterated that the purpose of our trip was to TOURIST activities that were closed (hike, kayak, raft, visit state parks). We were not spending $2200 and driving 4 hours to simply sit in a cabin for 2 days. I tried getting help from Airbnb, but didn't get much further. I will not use either company again.
