When planning for our full kitchen renovation, my wife and I were frustrated since we couldn't find the cabinet door style we were looking for at Ikea. In 2017 my wife and I were looking to update our 15 year old kitchen. Our cabinets (or rather the cabinet doors and fronts) had suffered through 3 toddlers / young kids and a dog, and were looking a little worse for wear -- scratches, dings, chips, discolouration, a few stains and some water warping, etc. Overall, they simply looked dated and tired. Our long-time contractor noted that the cabinets themselves were perfectly fine, and we explored simply replacing the doors with new IKEA doors. But after checking out IKEA's limited choices, we knew we wanted something that felt a little more custom and higher-end -- but we weren't really keen on spending tens of thousands of dollars on a renovation. That's when our contractor introduced us to SwitchDoor and Robert Blakemore. The ease of installation meant less disruption to our very busy household than a full custom reno might have caused. Combined with some sleek new quartz countertops, our kitchen and bathrooms now have a fresh, modern feel. Though we have no plans to sell anytime soon, I have no doubt we've increased the value of our home significantly. A year later we've been impressed with the durability of our SwitchDoor doors and fronts -- though our children are now in their preteen and teen years and are a little more mindful of banging into things, they're still kids! We were so pleased with the SwitchDoor experience that we have since also replaced the doors and fronts in the bathroom of our rental suite with SwitchDoor products. Robert has an amazing skill set that comes for years in the kitchen industry , plus he is a master carpenter so he knows how to make it work . Robert Blakemore of SwitchDoor has done two sets of gorgeous wood custom cabinetry for me in 2 homes; one mid-range (2014) and one in high-end walnut (2017).
