Cory told me something like the wall is not straight and that is the best he could do. And also adding the rest of the mouldings would costs me more money. Now, after giving some thoughts about the matter, I think Cory did not bring enough edge mouldings to my house and he is too lazy to come back to complete the job. He figure that he can get away with these lies. Also, the manufacturing process is sloppy. The second picture shows that the particle board edge is exposed . In the email, Cory said that there will be 5 year warranty on the closet. I asked him about it, he said the invoice is the warranty. There is no warranty in the invoice. Now I look back at all the 5 star ratings on this company. It turns out that all of them are from before 2018 when the previous owners were in charge. This company under the new owner does not deserve a five star rating. It does sloppy manufacturing and installation job, try to finish the job as quickly as possible and does not treat it's customer correctly. We are very lucky that we stumbled upon Level One on the internet when we were looking for a…read morecontractor to renovate our small condo in Coal Harbour. None of our friends or families had any recent home renovations done so we relied on our own search on the web. I was in town in September 2008 for a week, interviewed a couple on the 2nd day in town and decided on Level One. The owner came to the condo with an assistant for an assessment, listened to what we wanted to have done and offered a few suggestions. I was given a quote within just a couple of days. After agreeing to the contract, the demolition started the following week! Although it was a small one-bedroom condo, we had our kitchen torn out and replaced with new appliances and cabinetry, all the flooring replaced with bamboo flooring, the bedroom closet gutted and rebuilt, half of the bathroom redone. The project was completed in just 2 months. We are very happy with the process and the quality of the work. We were still living in California at the time of the renovation so all communications were done either by email or over the phone. We received email and photo updates weekly if not more frequently. We were sought approvals for any changes to the plans so we were aware of all changes to the costs all the time. When we walked into our condo a few months later when we moved here, it was exactly how it looked in the picture, even better because we could see it in person. There was a slight problem with the bathroom sink a month after we moved in in March 2009. It was a new product so it needed some tweaking. The owner came back numerous times to make sure it worked. Not only that we were not charged for the visits, he gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience caused. We had other renovation projects in the past and Level One is the most reliable contractor we dealt with so far.

I am very…read moredisappointed as they are very unprofessional and not trustworthy. 1They fixed the counter top left lot of scratch on the wall and I asked about it, and they said it happened when you fixed countertop and they didn't care to fix it. 2After fixing countertop they left leaving the waterline on with few drops which damaged my flooring on the lower level when I told them about the incident they told me it's your problem you should call plumber asap. 3Also they broke my cabinets and I called hundred times they told me he will come to fix it but didn't show up it's already 2 months now.It was a nightmare and so stressful. We asked for receipt they denied and we went to their shop but nobody showed up Please beware of these people as they do their job for money and doesn't care about anything.

When I did get quotes on a couple choices, they didn't end up having the one I wanted in stock with my thickness preference. I ended having to choose a much more expensive stone as we needed to move ahead. I felt rushed and confused. The stone was ok although they changed some of the layout of the marbling so I have a weird pattern on the counter. There are some chips around the sink cutout that make it difficult to keep clean. At a certain point, it is done and I'm glad I don't have to deal with them again.

Words really cannot…read moredescribe how grateful we are to Goldcon - but since this is a Google review, I will try my best to paint a picture of how we worked together. Prior to selecting Goldcon, we had interviewed about 15 contractors. All of them were great sales people, they all sounded like they knew what they were doing, so narrowing it down was difficult. We eventually got it down to 3 companies (Goldcon and 2 others) and signed up to a design document with 1 of them that was not Goldcon. Typically in construction the contractors will charge a "Cost Plus" model or a "Fixed Price". For fixed price, you need to have a perfectly crafted scoping document so you know exactly what you are paying for. For "Cost Plus" you are paying a percentage on top of the cost of the project. Virtually all the contractors wanted to use a Cost Plus Model given all the uncertainties with supplies and labour. I just didn't like this idea because it didn't feel like the contractors would make an effort to negotiate the best price for us. Goldcon was one of the only contractors that was willing to do a fixed price for the build - but they were concerned that we would need to submit a variety of change orders if the supplies that we had chosen were out of stock. So we decided to settle on a fixed management fee and pay Goldcon in installments that were tied to milestones reached. As soon as we signed on the dotted lines, they got to work. And they worked fast. Trades were organized extremely efficiently, one after another. Multiple quotes were presented to us for each trade and they often were able to get their existing partners to match prices of lower price suppliers. Design ideas were brought to the table and discussed at length, but very quickly and efficiently. Communication was effortless, we setup a WhatsApp group and kept a history of all the things we discussed. When we had a difference of opinion, they always reverted back to "It's your house, you have whatever you like, but we just think XYZ would make the most sense". This was reassuring to us and most of the times we ended up going with their suggestions and it paid off. At no point in the process did we feel like we were being bullied into doing something or were we uncomfortable with the process. So overall, there are 100's of reasons to choose Goldcon and ZERO reasons to work with someone else. If you are looking for a builder for a new house or to do a larger renovation, Goldcon is the only company that I would recommend. A…read morefriend of mine introduced me to Kaveh who is the co-owner of company and said that Goldcon does great work for a very reasonable price. The carpet in the apartment was really old and the bathroom needed a new vanity. Kaveh helped me pick out the laminate flooring that would look good and that I didn't have to spend and arm and leg to get. They quickly took out the disgusting old carpet and installed the new flooring which looks great. Second, they took out the old rusted vanity and added a new vanity which really makes my fiancé happy. I love coming to a home which I can be comfortable in and a home that looks good. All because Goldcon did a great job fixing the place up just the way I wanted. The service from Goldcon was amazing and I'm happy that my friend introduced me to this company. Thanks again.

I first reviewed Canadian Home Flooring June 29, 2015 (sometimes yelp hides reviews, you might need…read moreto scroll down to find) Be aware this company keeps changing its' name. A year prior to trying to work with Nader, owner of Canadian Home Flooring, the company was called Canadian Carpet and Tile. At the time I didn't know of the name change but when I did see it, after the fact, I found negative reviews. The name Canadian Carpet and Tile and reviews have now disappeared from the internet (company, has not been in business for about 5 years). In the last 2 years Nader has changed the name of his business twice more. Recently the name changed to Canadian Flooring & Renovations but Yelp doesn't have that change yet. Despite my complaint and others, the BBB gave Canadian Home Flooring an A+ and yesterday I noted the BBB has given Canadian Flooring & Renovations an A+ too. Beware!!! the owner of the company has not changed. He had 8 more cases booked in the courts during the 3 years I tried to fight him and after reading recent internet reviews, this appears to be an ongoing practice for Nader. I contacted 6 of the 8, all professionals, mostly women (a lawyer provided me with their names). All the situations were different but there was a common thread ie. added costs, intimidation, immediate threats to sue / put a lien on property, poor workmanship, refusal to honour his price guarantee and insufficient material ordered. I have also noted reviewers saying Nader didn't turn up for appointments (likely understandable - he spends a huge amount of time in the courts). I also met a woman (teacher), threatened by Nader. To get rid of him, she gave him the money he insisted on (and now lives with his poor work- manship). Guess this is what he hopes for and he sometimes gets what he wants because people don't have the time or energy to fight him. I fought him. I lost in Small Claims because he and his installer both lied, the judge ignored the wood manufacturing company documents of how my floors should have been laid, (but weren't), maybe because I was a woman (the judge called me an over-zealous and suspicious home owner, said I interfered with the contractor's work and was not an normal person). Also, the judge, brought from Criminal Court to clear Small Claims, likely didn't know contract law (information later provided by a lawyer). As a lay litigant, I was told I was not expected to use law but the judge would base his judgement on law. He didn't - he arbitrarily based his judgement on his own belief system. A lawyer said,"the judge likely saw you as a rich b.... from Kitsilano". With a heavy heart, I prepared to pay the judge's penalty (I had spent hours researching and preparing materials and had badly wanted to set precedents to stop Nader's unethical behaviour). Within the 40 days I had to make a decision, Nader wrote saying, "pay up or I will call the police who will take you to jail". I withdrew retirement savings and hired a lawyer. We knew the name of the appeal lawyer because we had gone before him prior to the actual appeal. The day before the appeal, my lawyer said, "we have a problem with the judge, he goes for the underdog". I thought I was the underdog but no, that would be Nader. (????) The courts are known as a game of Russian Roulette for a reason. The appeal judge refused the appeal for 2 reasons: #1. it is standard to defer to the trial judge (Small Claims) and #2. no law was brought up in Small Claims, (even though it was the Small Claims Judge's responsibility to use the law), so he wouldn't allow it brought up in appeal. My lawyer tried very hard but there was no way I could have won. B.C. Consumer Protection Laws are excellent, I would have been protected under them but it is up to the judge to use and enforce. There is a good chance Nader will respond to my post saying I'm lying or crazy, or the worst client he has ever had (which he has done before). If this is the case please contact a lawyer, find out Nader's history, contact some of the people and form your own opinion. My name will come up, you are welcome to contact me. I have learned a lot. I am definitely not suggesting you give Nader the extra money he demands but would suggest, if he threatens to sue and you can't afford a lawyer, speak for yourself in court but if you lose post, post, post about him. It cost me BIG time to appeal. I am still working, (76 a nurse), to replace retirement funds so that may not be a route you want to go (until we have judge accountability in the courts). It's very hard to keep up with Nader when he keeps changing his company name but there are more of us now getting the word out that he is not a good contractor choice.

We had 4 areas done by them; bedroom closet, pantry/storage room, entryway closet, and spare bedroom closet (no photo). We love all of the spaces and wouldn't change anything. We initially had three quotes from two other companies (including California closets), and the designs by Jen were better than the others by far. We initially had glass sliding doors covering up our closet and Jen convinced us to remove them and raise the closet hight by another foot or so. I did the job myself to save some money, and it was not too difficult luckily. It however was a fantastic idea as we were able to change the entire design of the closet to be more functional, and symmetrical. The entry way closet Jen also had the best design for and its much better then how it was done originally. The pantry/storage room we added on at the end as we were not even thinking of having it done, but Jen had very functional ideas which make a huge difference for our day to dad. Overall we had fast, friendly, cost effective, and high quality service. Thanks!

I got 3 quotes from different companies and the quote from Clever Closets came in considerably lower than the others. They also included soft closing hinges and used high end materials and finishings. Jen, who designed everything, did an amazing job maximizing the space. The installation went really well. I'll definitely be using Clever Quarters again in the future.
