It is directly across from Cole's Hill. This tranquil peaceful park was created during the early 1920's. The area encompasses the original garden plot granted to Elder William Brewster in 1620. The Pilgrims settled here because of the abundance of fresh water & the many springs. Another reason why they settled here was there's also thatch that grew along the water's edges that provided necessary roofing materials for houses. There are bronze statues & sculptures here honoring Plymouth's immigrant settlers. The bridge with the water flowing beneath it from the Town Brook is a beautiful little area to just sit, chill & relax. There are benches, green grass, trees & flowers & is very picturesque. This is a great place to have a picnic. While we were there a wedding party was taking all kinds of pictures in this lush green landscape. A great scenic place to have your lunch or just to meander. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have The Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've Been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like A King On A Limited Budget!

I heard that the…read moregiant magnolia trees were in bloom from a vender at the West Tisbury Farmers Market and so I decided to take a visit to see them for myself. They were absolutely beautiful and so were so many other specimens. We had an added bonus of seeing sculptures and paintings throughout the gardens. Entry was only $5 per adult which was a bargain. They also have a gift shop and plants for sale. This is a worthwhile place to visit on Marthas Vineyard. Check out their calendar as they have many programs for adults and children to enjoy from educational activities to Walking tours and painting classes.

We were a week after the Hydrangea Festival ended and while the flowers don't just disappear, they were not all as vibrant as I'm sure they had been two weeks prior. I love hydrangeas and have several types growing on my property so it was great to be able to see other varieties and colors. I had no idea this type of acreage existed on the cape- (you mean it's NOT all ice cream and traffic?!) The gardens were exquisite. I was told that they are all maintained by volunteers! We saw no maintenance or staff doing anything other than helping guests enjoy their visit. The new children's area was fun for 50-somethings and 70-somethings in our crew. There is a school on the property and I cannot imagine a more fun way to learn in nature! The carousel was a hit, as was the automobile museum in a gorgeous building. The exhibit about cranberry bogs and the wetu on site paid appropriate homage to the Indigenous People in this region. If you have the time, this is a must-see on the Cape. While there is a lot of walking involved, the property has electric golf cart vehicles that can transport visitors around the property. I would definitely return!

Since it had been ages since last visiting, I only had a faint recollection of the estate having incredibly beautiful gardens. Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum was established by Augustus and Bessie Van Wickle in the 1890s as their summer estate. Mr. Van Wickle made his fortune in the coal mining industry. The estate overlooks beautiful Narragansett Bay. Due to our schedule, our main focus was to just visit the special bamboo bird exhibit and gardens. We went to the admission desk. Luckily, since my friend was a Met member, we got in free. We casually mentioned, we were here to see the special bird exhibit. The staff was very friendly, but didn't make any mention of the bird exhibit. As we walked through the gardens, we saw so many beautiful flowers and lush trees. In one section, there's a large growth of stunning bamboo. As mentioned earlier, the estate had a special exhibit of six bamboo birds ranging from 15 to 30 feet in height. August 11th is the exhibit's last day. All the birds were absolutely striking in appearance. It's incredible, how these birds can be designed from bamboo. Taking one star off for the following: It was quite tiring walking the extensive grounds, due to the heat. In fact, it was difficult to make it close enough to see the sixth bird (Owl). Wish the visitor's section would've offered some type of mini tram to take you through the gardens. Even at an extra cost, it would've been worth it, due to the length of the gardens. However, Blithewold is definite must see when visiting Rhode Island.

I saw all displays in 10 minutes and asked for a refund. I was told no and referred to an event supervisor who confirmed a that no refunds are possible. $20 for 10 minutes. The few displays that were there, were not even special. In NO way does the Boston Flower Show resemble the special event it used to be years ago. The Flower Show photos posted on Yelp are from several years ago and do not represent the 2019 sham of a show. A trip to Mahoney's Rocky Ledge Nursery in Winchester is so much nicer, larger, more flowers, more greenery, and it is open 7 days a week, year round for free.

The botanical gardens are much more spacious than I remember there are 4 different greenhouses with a wide variety of tropical plants, trees, a kid's play space, and an herb and vegetable garden. They even have a mini koi pond with some huge koi. Everything was decorated for the holidays with multiple christmas trees, several different train sets and poinsettias everywhere. One of the train sets has a model city that is supposed to look like Providence. I love model trains so this was fun to see. I do wish they had made the settings a little bit more detailed and realistic. Overall a very cool place and a nice retreat from the coldness of winter. It's very warm and humid in there so it really does feel like you're somewhere tropical. They have some truly gigantic monsteras, jade trees and elephant ear plants. Definitely inspiring for my home plant collection! I had no idea how huge some of these plants could get under the right conditions. I do wish there were more labels on the plants - we found some interesting trees (a fruit tree that was maybe papaya) but there was no sign to indicate what it was. Check it out - a fun, family friendly spot to go on a winter weekend. And don't forget to visit the goats on the way in!

We got lucky because it was fairy week! They had activities for kids too. The garden itself is stunning but the fairies were an amazing addition. There were probably 200 fairy houses... possibly even more! This is an amazing spot, I can't wait to visit again soon!

Possibly the best prize for labeling as many species as possible. So many gardens do not provide good and legible labels on their plants, trees, bushes, ferns, and flowers. This was joyfully, thoroughly well-labeled. As was the path itself on the loop trail. There is an additional outer trail you could take if you're channeling your inner Thoreau but we stuck with the anti-Frost and took the road more traveled. Stay on the path. Recommendations say you can walk the loop in 30mins. You probably could. But we found plenty to keep us oohing and aahing for 90 mins! Turtles, frogs, dragonflies, butterflies, and some fab funghi in the lily pond. Unique and colorful small flowers every which way. The trail has mostly small inclines here and there, but the hike at the end to return to the visitor center is a bit huffy puffy. While there were beautifully carved benches throughout other parts of the loop, there were no benches on this steepest part and there really should be at least one halfway up the hill. Take your time. Wear proper shoes, bring a water bottle. Small parking lot. Bonus gift shop, plant shop, and proper rest rooms.
