The teaching staff are not only wonderful with the kids but in my opinion work with them in such a way that they are miles ahead of their peers. The activities and learning tools they utilize made it much easier on my son as well. He left there always happy and excited to tell me about his day. In addition to the great environment, the owner is also extremely down to earth and flexible with allowing you to chose your child's schedule based on availability (many centers we've visited have not been so accommodating). I honestly believe my child is much more prepared for his future school years because of Little Explorers.

When we first toured the facility we found the staff friendly and welcoming, the only catch I was apprehensive about was we were offered a small discount in exchange for a 5 star review. The menu they offer the children is ridiculous, I don't know how many times I saw from their app my child was being fed things most adults wouldn't eat on a daily basis (hard boiled eggs, baked beans, egg patty) . Often I would pick up a child who was clearly hungry because she's picky. I understand they're trying to provide a healthy meal but I would rather her eat. Security isn't taken very seriously, I cannot count the number of times parents have tried to follow me in without signing into the computer system that opens the door or parents just holding the door for anyone to walk in behind them. The staff while generally friendly seems to change often, I can't count how many "directors" they've had. Parents without proper placards and Staff parking in handicap spots that is never enforced. I've watched people with actual placards have to wait for parents who have no business parking in them to clear the spot. However the real issue comes at the end. With very little warning, they decided to stop driving the bus route to take our daughter to school (a school that if you check the list of schools they service is still listed). They claim a lack of staff caused this as well as our child being the only one attending that kindergarten school, however other schools are still serviced. ZERO attempts were made to help keep us as clients. It was just sorry but we're not going to drive to your child's school anymore so we're dropping you completely, with little warning. My advise is look into other schools. I know that finding child care is difficult however I'm sure that better options can be found as this provider will have no loyalty to you and will drop you with no warning.

I'll start with the positives- the staff and teachers were nice. The updates through the app were great (when they actually posted them). The prices are affordable. Now on the other hand- the communication in this school is terrible. They don't respond to messages you send via the app and the director takes days if not a second email to respond back. We weren't even told that one of my sons favorite teachers was leaving either. And then on his last day, his current teacher had no idea that we were even removing him. Now onto the food. They do not track eating habits accurately at all. I don't know how many times it would show that he had ate ALL of his food and it was a food he never even had before. And granted, my son is a picky eater.. But don't lie about him eating! He came home starving 90% of the time and it was never communicated that he wasn't eating much. They say they send updates on progress, pictures, and of course their eating habits, but this was far and few between when they were posted, other than the "ate all" of lunch or snack posts. We got the most updates we've ever received on our very last day. Hopefully someone new came in and will do a better job than they've been doing the last few months. I am not one to leave bad reviews but I felt other parents needed to know my experience before they decided to enroll their child here.

I've often tried to sift through all our years and determine what they most learned/received at Orchard and if I had to pick one attribute (and there are many), I'd pick confidence. They are all confident public speakers. For example, when my daughter was a junior in high school, she won an award that required her to speak at a dinner with over 400 people present. I tried several times to get her to practice and review her speech in advance, knowing that the previous recipient had a professional speech writer. In frustration, one evening she said, "Mom, I went to Orchard. Don't worry." She delivered a flawless speech without notes. They are all confident about their ability to learn. Orchard likes to say they help create lifelong learners and they do. Each of our children knows how to learn and they like to learn. They are all confident expressing themselves to anyone. In high school, their teachers observed that unlike many shy teens they were not afraid to ask questions and advocate for themselves or for others. And, this has continued throughout their college and post-graduate years. Orchard invites and teaches children how to respectfully approach adults. At Orchard, education is not just about science, English, history, etc. While these are important, it's also about helping develop good people and preparing them for the future.

She is only 2.5yo, but I've noticed a marked difference in her social and educational development. The teachers work very well with the students during lessons and playtime. Upon entering the school, staff is sure to acknowledge their young scholars first. I can tell this makes my daughter feel welcomed and safe. When my daughter misses a day, she is anxious to get back to her friends and school family. I actually feel guilty when I keep her home, because I know she will miss a worthwhile lesson. She has been in three different classrooms in 7 months, but only because the administrators insist on placing children in the classroom that best suits their development pace. In her first classroom, her teachers managed to get her about 85% potty-trained within her first week of school. We were amazed. Also, as a neat freak, I love that the school is kept tidy. I always notice upgrades to the facility and new toys. Lastly, at this location, many extracurricular activities are planned for the students and their families. We look forward to each one!

The four C's of twenty-first Century skills are critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication. Acton helps to develop each of these skills in a developmentally appropriate way. I love how they allow our children to read their choice of books during drop everything and read time, allow plenty of outside recess and have quests where they work together to solve real world problems. During core skill time they work on reading, writing and arithmetic. Each of our kids have excelled by working at their own levels, setting goals and achieving them! One of our children is Dyslexic and Acton has been the perfect environment to allow him to work using his strengths while still working on individualized core skills. Our daughter loves "writer's workshop" where she gets to write to a real audience by writing letters, reviews and publish books. They learn History through Story of the World which is fascinating to our whole family. We also enjoyed the Acton Business Fair where children become entrepreneurs and get to sell their products to the community. So much learning happened during that project! Acton instills in children that they are "heroes" on their own journey and heroes face hard times and work to overcome them. Acton is changing the face of education and we are so blessed that we get to be a part of this community of young heroes!
