Our server Matt was great from start to finish. The menu was shockingly well priced & nicely varied without being overwhelming. We chose the Friday fish special (which was cheaper than a big Mac combo!!) & the portion was so generous, I took home half & had another great meal the next day. I love the ambience & decor, noticed how bright & truly clean everything was & am already planning to return (I'm in NOTL, so it's a 40 min. drive) already, & bringing another friend who will love it! 7 of us stopped by this afternoon and did not make it past the host. We all had our vaccinations records showing 2 vaccines. One of our friends had a European Union passport which requires 2 Vaccines to even get the passport. She also had a letter showing that she indeed had the 2 vaccines. He was so rude to her and said he didn't care about the passport. It was strange that he chose to pick on her when he barely looked at my daughters records. We ended up leaving. Came here here on Father's Day with my fiance's family. The entrance was kind of chaotic, no real host waiting to check people in. When the host finally did arrive, we heard a few people squabble about being there first. Totally disorganized and pretty sure that bald man cut in front of us. The restaurant is small, but it didn't take long for us to get seated. It's a nice family restaurant with very comfortable chairs. Thank goodness it was comfortable because we ended up waiting 1.5 hours for our meal. Father's Day, right? I ordered the French toast with bacon and the fiancé ordered the three eggs with farmers sausage. We were starving by the time the food arrived, so my assessment of the meal might be a little bias. The French toast was good, perfect egg to bread ratio. It came with a pack of table syrup (not maple syrup) which was disappointing, but the fruit salad was fresh which kind of made up for it. The three eggs and farmers sausage was standard fare, good but not spectacular. Honestly, there are better brunch places out there, but you can't really go wrong coming here if you want to bring the family. read more

My partner and I ordered from this location today and what a disappointment it was! We order the "southern fried chicken" and received two tiny, non crispy, if you can call it chicken pieces because two pieces didn't even equal one breast! We also ordered the small burger and that it was. Bacon was an extra charge and never received it! The bun was also squished and soggy. We ordered the bruschetta flatbread which had decent flavour but fell short with the ratio of toppings. Needless to say we are very disappointed with our meal. read more

This location is CHEAP! The restaurant is hard to find because it is located behind another large pub house. I had a coupon but they only allowed me to used 50% of the coupon value because my partner did not order from the entree section specifically. C'mon, don't be cheap on coupons! Accept them properly, and not just for some of the menu. I will not return to this location until they fully honour all meal vouchers and not just a portion of it. read more

Food: Good. Everything tasted great. Service: Terrible. From the get go, it took fifteen minutes for them to take our order. It took another forty minutes after that to get our food. We ordered the Caesar to go along with the breakfast, and let's just say we received a couple glasses of Clamato with olives and a pickle. We did mention it to one of the servers, and her solution was to potentially bring a couple of shots of vodka for us, that too as we were leaving. Everything was lackluster. Value: Not enough for the $$ you pay for food. If I'm paying premium money for eggs, toast, and hash browns, I want enough to fill me up. The quantity of food just sucked. We paid $65 for two breakfasts, two "Caesars" (as mentioned before...Clamato served in a fancy glass), and two pieces of cake. Oh and did I forget to mention that they forgot to mention it to us beforehand that their debit machine was down!! Call me harsh, but there was absolutely nothing good about the experience we had at this place. Will never repeat again, not just at this location, but any location. A good place to accommodate large groups of 20+ people with friendly service, but several members of our group were not happy with our meals. I had the Southwestern chicken bowl which sounded very fresh and full of vegetables; however it was basically just chicken in an Italian flavoured tomato sauce over rice. Also the guacamole that came with it was absolutely terrible and ruined the whole meal for me - it tasted like someone accidentally spilled cleaning product into it! Other people also had complaints about the flatbread and the chicken parmesan pasta. Next time I'll stick to just drinks and spinach dip. read more

Took my wife and kids there to celebrate my wife's birthday and had a terrible experience. Had a 6pm reservation and arrived at 5:55. Was left standing at the check-in station for a good 12 minutes completely ignored. It seemed nobody was manning the podium and nobody even acknowledged our presence. After finally being seated, our food took way too long to arrive. It seems Symposium is ok with booking large groups (there were at least two groups of 15+ patrons at the time we were in) with no additional kitchen coverage to keep things moving. So we had to wait. The chicken wings were average. I'd argue the potion was as advertised (1lb). Nobody at the table seemed wowed by their food. The draft beer is too expensive, too. Finally, upon leaving we were offered take out containers for our leftovers. We asked for one when asked how many we wanted. They proceeded to bring us, I kid you not, a styrofoam container designed to hold a single hamburger (like the old McDonald's containers). Overall, a very poor experience with "meh" food. Really disappointed with the service... was slow to take drink orders... very slow to give our bills. The spinach dip was quite oily and the calamari portion was small. While waiting for our bills we watched the waitress text and chat behind the counter. I wanted to try this place out because it's in my neighbourhood. Reading the reviews I was a little skeptical, but wanted to give it a shot. My date and I went on the Date Night Dinner For Two Thursday special. We both had salad for starters, then the salmon in a hollandaise sauce on rice pilaf with vegetables and shared an enormous piece of Chocolate Taboo Cake. We shared a half litre of Chardonnay, had coffees with the cake and finished everything off with amaretto on ice and him a Flaming Sambuca. We both agreed the food was delicious and came in very generous portions. Since we arrived at 7pm and the sun was still high, the space was very well lit... none of that "dark and mysterious" I was hoping for as mentioned in a previous review. As soon as the night took over though, the waitress brought a candle and the dining room was dimmed. This was much more to our liking. The seating is very spacious; though it was moderately busy, you couldn't hear the conversation at the next table. We were their enjoying the food and conversation until 10:30pm... and we never felt that we had to rush out... on the contrary the host only checked on us twice to see how we were doing and offered if we wanted anything else. I gave four stars because I do see myself returning and I would recommend it to others. The only catch is it's location; it is hidden behind the Vicar's Vice in a strip plaza - the entrance is between the Vicar's Vice and the gas station. read more

Great flavor if you like hair on your plate! We were a party of 3 for supper on April 9th 2017. We arrived at 5:30pm and it was not busy. Only one other table in the restaurant. The server was prompt and helpful and we placed our orders. I ordered the sirloin steak med rare, my friend order the same as me but medium and my other friend ordered the flank steak medium. Where we were sitting I had clear view of the kitchen. I saw two plates placed under the heat lamps from the chef to our server and she delivered the flank steak and my sirloin. This is where things go wrong - there was a hair prominently displayed on my dinner plate. I immediately notified the server as she gave me my plate first. She apologized and took it back to the kitchen. I silently watched from my table. We waited for quite a bit for my steak dinner to come back and my other friend still hadn't had her dinner served yet. So our party of three have 1 flank dinner served, waiting on the medium sirloin and my medium rare sirloin to come back. When it does my steak is now medium to medium well. I'm not going to send it back a second time and ruin our dinner so I suck it up and start eating my dinner. As I'm eating my vegetables I feel something weird in my mouth. I look at my veggies and stuck to my knife is 3/4 of a produce sticker!!! You guessed it I just ate the other 1/4!! The server never came back to ask how our dinner was. When she does arrive back asking about desserts I question her about my steak and she admits that the cook gave me new vegetables but served the same steak that had the hair on the plate! Yuck!!!! As my stomach rolls, I explain to her my dissatisfaction to which she replies the managers not here and neither her or the chef have the authority to do any differently than they did. That means reserving a meal that was contaminated!! She suggests I complete a comment card that she will give to her manager. Well today is May 8th - almost a MONTH later and of course I have heard nothing. No apology - nothing. It is clear that this restaurant does not comply with the ministry of health guidelines and doesn't care. If you like unwashed produce, hair and God only knows what else in your food then this restaurant is a safe bet!! read more

Horrible food and horrible service. Stained cups, with lipstick still on them. I will never be returning to this place. My food was over cooked, oily and gross. I was offered for the to remake it as brought the bill. I said no thanks as I didn't want the same gross food, they discounted half my meal(that I couldn't eat because it was so over cooked). Took my mom here for mothers day and could not be more disappointed. Food took over an hour to come, my coffee never got refilled, waitress never came to check on our table. we ordered an apple juice, it never came but the waitress decided to put it on the bill anyways. when i ordered my meal, she asked me if i wanted sausage, ham or bacon. I chose sausage, when the bill arrived there was an extra charge for the sausage because only ham or bacon came with the meal. Also she asked what type of bread i wanted for me eggs and there was also and extra charge for that as well. January 27, 2018 I got there a little after 9 for breakfast. I was seated right away and looked after quickly. Staff was good, pleasant, and quick. It was a little cold in there. I had bacon and eggs. Any substitutions were extra. The breakfast was "acceptable". I had an uneasy feeling about a door leading to the outside in the dining room that was blocked by a booth with a table and permanently mounted chair benches in the main dining room. My understanding is that any door leading to the outside in an establishment like that must be kept free of any obstructions in case of emergency like a fire, regardless if there is no exit sign. In a room like that if filled with black smoke an exit sign is likely not visible anyway. All you might see is the bottom of the door because the thickest smoke rises. I envision people piled up on the table and seats trying to get out of the door in a fire. I doubt if this situation meets fire code. I understand that keeping the door clear might mean one less booth, but putting profit ahead of human safety should not be acceptable. I think I won't be going back there. read more

I had made a reservation for several people to have some drinks and potentially some apps. Unfortunately at the last minute we were unable to make it. I called the restaurant about 15 minutes before the reservation to let them know. I appreciate the fast that this is inconvenient and very late notice however the response I received from the man on the phone was so inappropriate. He asked me what was wrong with me calling them only 15 minutes before the reservation to let them know and that they had lost business saving the table from us. Regardless of how rudely he spoke to me I still attempted to apologies and explain the circumstances but he hung up on me mid sentence. I would not recommend going to this location this experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth as the mans behaviour was rude, uncalled for, and distasteful. read more

Went for breakfast on the weekend, first time there. Went with my wife and 5 year old son. Food was average, a little higher priced than the egg&I, but the service was horrible. Took 50 minutes to get three breakfasts, my poor son didn't even want to eat his breakfast by the time it got there. I think they should have told us before we ordered that they were behind instead of taking our business and then making us wait a ridiculous amount of time for some eggs and bacon. I would like to share a very disappointing (to say the least) review of your Stoney Creek location. My cousins and I (a group of 16 adults) choose a restaurant each year for our annual Christmas gathering and last night (Nov 30th) we chose the Stoney Creek Symposium location. We arrived and were seated at a nice large table with very few other customers in the restaurant. The waitress we had was very new but did her absolute best under the circumstances - none of the following bad reviews are any way a reflection on her just to be clear. She took our drink orders, and started to hand them out and unfortunately had an accident and spilt an entire glass of red wine on 2 of the guests at our table. She was very upset about it and went to get assistance to clean it up - the owner (Omer) just walked around the restaurant and totally ignored the situation at our table. We had to get up and ask him to help US clean it up - he quickly cleaned up with some napkins and walked away. Once again WE had to ask him for a mop and ask him to mop it up. The wine spilt on one of the guests brand new suede boots - she went to the washroom to try and clean it up but with little luck as you can imagine with red wine, She asked the owner to compenate in some form for the boots and his answer was "Go home and see if you can clean them". The night progressively got worse. Meals came out at such ridiculous intervals; meals before appetizers, fries before the meal etc and some items completely wrong i.e. vegan/dietary restrictions asking for no eggs and the meal came with the eggs on top - only for them to be returned to the kitchen, egg taken off and brought right back, steaks asked to be cooked well done and coming out redder than a tomato, chicken wings not cooked completely (red inside) and on and on! We tried to make the best of it at this point. We decided (against our better judgement) to stay for dessert, so we ordered coffees and desserts. At this point we are the ONLY people in the restaurant and deserts are being served with most of the DIRTY dinner dishes still on our table. In an attempt to help this poor waitress, I go speak to the owner and ask why he cannot provide some assistance to her to help clear some of the mess on the table to which he said "YOU ARE ONLY A TABLE OF 16 AND I HAVE OTHER THINGS TO DO" . I lost it! Is this who you want representing YOUR brand???? I think not! I wish I could say things ended there but they did not. One of the guests ordered a dessert and it came out harder than a rock! The guest approached the owner who was not happy about the complaint and he said "Other people like it"!! The owner then proceeded to go to the dessert window and I kid you not touched each cake with this bear hands to check for freshness - OMG how would the Food Safety inspectors feel about this?? We finished our coffee and desserts and people started asking for their bills. Just as an aside most of the people at our table had kids at home with baby-sitters and were looking to have a nice night out - clearly this did not happen here! The waitress worked diligently to get everyone's bills. I was one of the last people to get my bills and was in shock when I saw that the restaurant had added a standard 15% tip to everyone's bill! I approach the owner to ask him to reverse the charge and he REFUSED saying that it was standard for parties over 8 people - my response was "You have to be kidding me if you think that 16 people who have just had one of the worst restaurant experiences is going to be forced to give you 15%" and he refused again to reverse it. In my opinion that just summarizes how little this owner knows about customer service. And I would argue borders unethical behaviour - nobody can be forced to pay a 15% gratuity! Each guest had an average of $50-$60 bill and I expect at best your organization should be providing a refund of approximately $120-$150 just for that and that doesn't even speak to the lack of customer service we received. As an aside, the 2 guests who had wine split on them got NOTHING taken off their bill - that in itself is so ridiculous. Any other restaurant chain would have done better just on that front. I trust that you appreciate this feedback as your brand is being poorly represented at this location. A few of us have dined at your Milton and Ancaster locations and have had pleasant experiences. We will NEVER be returning to the Stoney Creek location and hope others can be spared from this terrible type of experience. I look forward to your response. read more

I've been to this restaurant twice before. The first time from what I remember the service and food were both good. The second time the service was terrible but I decided to return today because theres no denying the food is good. When I called today to see if they were open (it is Jan 1st) a lady answered the phone and I said I would be in for breakfast. She laughed and said they stopped doing all day breakfest "awhile ago". I was not sure as to why she was laughing but said okay we will come in for a late lunch. When my boyfriend and I arrived the lady who sat us down (a middle aged woman with shoulder length dirty blond hair) sat us at a pretty sunny table. We asked if we could move to a different seat to avoid the sun in our eyes and the lady with attitude said "ugh well none of the other tables are clean" a little shocked by the response I looked around to see all the tables were clean and set. My boyfriend laughed and pointed to a table and asked if we could sit there. The lady put her hands up and said sure and walked us over. I should have said something to a manager because this is the second time ive delt with this lady and have been treated rudely but decided to let it go. Im pretty sure she was the one who answered the phone to and had no idea what she was talking about because When she put the menu down I noticed she gave us a all day breakfast menu. I said oh so you do have all day breakfast? She looked at it and said "mmhm". Didnt appreciate the fact when i called earlier whoever answered the phone when I called originally said breakfast ended at 2. We then waited for our waitress to come. During this time we had 2 different waitress come to take our order. A little all over the place to be honest. After waiting 45 minutes for our breakfest we could not wait to leave. The food was good but the coffee was gross, it tasted burnt and cold. The cafe latte was good though. I dont think i will be returning to this symposium based on the rude lady that I've delt with 2ce now who seated us. She was horrible and a tad dramatic. The waitress was nice though.
