The staff is very pleasant, even if you're the first customer in of a morning. And they are great about making sure your bacon is crisp if that's what you request. Then seeing under the seating, there was enough food to attract the flies. Tables had sticky spots, make do newspaper to block under door places by the loo, need we continue. This was on a Sunday and it was not overly busy. A bus boy would have dealt with table area stuff. The single egg of the order looked like more, a plus. The peameal bacon was a good portion, and the Texas toast French toast was good although I would argue it was normal toast thickness. The cinnamon in the French toast eggs mix is s nice touch. The syrup in French's bottles is innovative. Standard small breakfast sausages, the usual. Service was quick and attentive. My son and I had breakfast at the Pancake House yesterday. We arrived at 1:30 (place closes at 2p.m.)and we ordered our breakfast. I orderd coffee, which was burnt so I asked for another cup. The waitress came back and said the manager said I could not have another cup because they would have to make another pot and resturant was closing soon. I was so supised at this response how cheep can you be?? (I like coffee with my toast why can't you make a 1/2 pot). After 10 minutes of arriving, another table of 11 people came in to eat, surprisingly they went across the street to Tim Hortons for their coffees. Probably the best breakfast place in Hamilton. You will probably hit up a huge lineup during Saturday or Sunday mornings, when you arrive a little later. Like a regular breakfast place, it's not open at night for all day breakfast, so make sure you wake up early to come her! Their pancakes are soft and fluffy and you can add however much syrup you want. However, like all other breakfast places, I think it's more on the expensive side, for a mixture of egg and flours. It seems like an average restaurant chain though, when you compare it to the rest of Toronto and GTA area. The other items on the menu is fairly standard, sausages, home fries, bacon for a similar pricing to the chain of restaurants like Eggsmart or Cora's. As a past attendee and somehow a graduate of Mac, I have been here many many times. The interior is a little dated, and a little worse for wear, but serviceable. Standard breakfast joint / diner menu. Service is quick and somewhat attentive, but it is more of a volume restaurant that a place to go and get pampered. Breakfast food here is always decent. Not bad, not good. I've been here several times, and the service is usually acceptable, and sometimes the wait time is long. However, the service on my last visit was heinous. The place was busy, as it was a Sunday that day. My boyfriend and I were seated and given menus, as usual. My boyfriend raised his hand slightly when we ready to order, since the restaurant was hectic. And the waitress came over, and went on a long rant about how raising his hand was "incredibly rude" and how she didn't need him to do "such a thing". My boyfriend explained that he only raised his hand because the place was busy and he just wanted to say that we were ready to order. We weren't rushing her or telling her how to do her job. She said that she knows to come to our table, and basically kept trying to tear us a new one anyway. We gave up, and apologized and she took our order and left. Less than 2 minutes later, she comes back and asks us for a "favour" saying that we need to move to a 2-seater table that was now available so a group of 3 could sit in the booth we were seated in. It was ridiculous. She's ridiculous. The food is definitely not good enough for that kind of service, and I bet the flies in that restaurant would agree with me, too. read more

Service is quick and friendly. People in our group got all kinds of things - omelettes, the specials. Wow. Not only is this place a pancake house, as it's name would imply, but it also has some of the best omelettes, bacon, and eggs known to human kind. The eggs: cooked to perfection The bacon: crispy, yet melt in your mouth tender. I welled up when I realized that I had only one piece remaining. The pancakes: their signature dish. It must have been difficult naming this restaurant. It could have been called, Maple Leaf Everything is Delicious. But that is a mouthful. A delicious mouthful, but a mouthful nonetheless. I freaking love this place! I come here everytime I am in Hamilton. It is the epitome of a solid breakfast joint. Located in a cute, cozy, family owned restaurant. The food is pretty mainstream with a home made, authentic touch, prices are on the cheap side and the food comes out pretty quick. The service is great, turnover rate runs at a good pace and the place is always busy. Kitchen closes at 2:30pm. My favourite is the pancake with ice cream and raspberries, absolutely delicious. A recent trip for breakfast was quite a disaster service wise. Although this place can get very busy at times, especially on the weekends, we were here on a weekday late morning and there were only a few other customers. We had to ask several times to get a tea that we ordered and once the food came, I was given brown toast instead of the white toast I ordered. Also after our food arrived it took several requests and about 7 minutes before we were brought condiments, syrup and butter. Our waitress was very rude and took our repeated requests as a big bother. Of course by that time the pancakes were cold and inedible. I came here on a Sunday morning with my girlfriend and upon arrival it was fairly packed. The server had done a great job of seating us quickly though to an immediately open table for two. Arriving at our seats, we were quickly greeted by the server offering us water and taking our drinks orders. As I glanced around, the restaurant does have a retro feel to it but otherwise was well maintained. Looking at the menu, the items listed were very affordable and sounded appetizing solely from the descriptions. I ordered the meat skillet, being the carnivorous person I am, and my girlfriend ordered the spinach omlette. Before confirming the order, I asked the waitress what did the meat skillet consist of and during her description she mentioned it had two eggs whereas it was listed under an order with three eggs included. She quickly had it switched since it was listed on the menu and upheld the offer as it was shown. I understand it was busy, but it took over 30 minutes to receive our order while taking note of those who had arrived later than us receiving their order before us. When it did arrive, I was very surprised with how filling the entire meal was. It was perfectly cooked but found the cheese over top to be lacking. Overall, the price, proximity to campus, and quality of food definitely outweigh the relatively lengthy wait time for an order. I am looking forward to my next visit given that it's only a 200 metre walk away. read more

On the menu, they stated that their chicken breasts are "Grilled to perfection". Had to try and see myself and I'm 100% serious, it was grilled to perfection with absolutely perfect seasoning. Try it, seriously. Home fries are pretty inconsistent in terms of size and texture. Scrambled eggs are overcooked. Toast is greasy. But I would pay another $10 for that chicken breast. Prices are pretty good imo, around $7-11 for a full meal. Decor is dated but in a good way since I believe they're aiming for an old school diner feel. Cleanliness is definitely an issue.
