The Food was on point, and service was excellent. They effectively were able to serve everyone eith the power out, stayed calm and collected with a smile under the pressure. Definitely will be my breakfast spot moving forward

Peameal bacon with Texas French Toast w sausage special

Nice breakfast. Nothing to write home about. They say cleanliness is close to godliness. This place is not on the godliness end. We could not choose the seat suggested as the flies were too numerous. Then seeing under the seating, there was enough food to attract the flies. Tables had sticky spots, make do newspaper to block under door places by the loo, need we continue. This was on a Sunday and it was not overly busy. A bus boy would have dealt with table area stuff. The single egg of the order looked like more, a plus. The peameal bacon was a good portion, and the Texas toast French toast was good although I would argue it was normal toast thickness. The cinnamon in the French toast eggs mix is s nice touch. The syrup in French's bottles is innovative. Standard small breakfast sausages, the usual. Service was quick and attentive. Payment by card was somewhat arcane by current standards requiring a visit to the counter. Would have given 4 if cleaner.

Had planned to come here days in advance and had really high hopes. As much as I wanted to love it, the service was subpar- lacked organization, and the food was mediocre. However the food came quickly and it had a family friendly environment. Slightly disappointed but don't regret coming...

Typical pancake house nothing special. Decent prices and good service overall. Has your typical family restaurant greasy spoon ambiance

Just what you would expect from a breakfast restaurant. No fancy decor or menu. Fast service. Tasty food.

We waited 45 min for eggs... The restaurant was half full so it's not like they were busy. The wait staff ignored us. Horrible service

Entry is a single door with a ramp on the inside. Servers were quick to seat my friend and I. Service was polite and timely. We both ordered our own "Teenage Feast" which included Two eggs prepared to your taste, thick cut bacon, sausage, choice of toast, served with dutch mini pancakes, butter parsley home fries / salad or half & half. I opted for scrambled eggs, home fries, and rye (they also had sourdough as an option!) The meal was very filling, could definitely be shared between two peckish people or saved as left overs for later. Meal has a blend of sweet and savoury, leaning more on the sweet side. The sausage is sweeter than others (I enjoy this but I know it's not for everyone. The Dutch pancakes are so cute and little, coated in icing sugar, and served with maple syrup on the side to dip. For drinks I ordered the Maple Foam Cold Brew. Make sure to stir/not put your straw at the bottom of the drink or you'll get a hit of maple! Once it's stirred it tastes great. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu (I'm eyeing the coffee flights)!

Nonetheless, they do have a few sandwich options and are open at lunchtime as well. I went back to back days. Day one was the smash burger and I got 50/50 with salad and curly fries which is a nice option. The next day I did the Nashville fried chicken sandwich with the same sides. Everything was very fresh and tasted very good. Both sandwiches perhaps were missing a bit of an X factor that would have me telling people it's an absolute must visit. For example, the smashburger probably could've been a bit more savoury (even greasier) to be a true smashburger, and the Nashville chicken spice level was pretty mild. All that said, it was made fresh and very tasty too, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone either. And like I said, I didn't even try the breakfast items which is the main part of the restaurant anyway.

You enter in to see clean, modern aesthetic cafe vibes and a rack of freshly baked sourdough from Dear Grain. The cafe connects to its outdoor seating area and feels a bit like a secret garden. There's a variety of baked goods, food, and drinks to choose from. Their espresso tends to be on the mellower side - I think it's a medium body, mild & balanced, and pairs well with milk. If you're into pour overs, Detour has an incredible selection of their own coffee bean roasts. Not a coffee fan? No problem. I also recommend this spot to pick up the best artisan style sourdough I've had in this area (if you're not close to Dear Grain Commissary in downtown Hamilton). Crunchy crust and the softest sourdough inside. Perfect for a fancy sandwich or to add to a charcuterie board! You won't regret it.

Favorites include the arugula chick pea and black bean salad with jalenepeno pesto, any of their baked goods and sweets as well as their pizza. I LOVE that their pasta dishes feature Artie's handmade pasta (the best!) - but honestly was a little chewy recently with the pasta dish I got - could have gone for another minute. The standout for us was the desert - holy cow!! The Really Really Fudgey Brownie was UNREAL!! Sooo good. Service is friendly and helpful; you can tell the employees like their jobs, which helps the food taste even better. Their somewhat recent makeover and rebrand gives the restraunt a slightly more upscale feel which I'm not mad about. I love that you can dine outdoors as well, and bring your dog if you wish.

I sent it back for another one that came out raw as well, we had the second one put back in the oven and took it to go. I should have looked more closely at it before leaving, because when I was home I found the crust was still raw and inedible. It was the first and only time I have ever had to send food back at a restaurant. Our server relayed a message from the kitchen suggesting we request our pizza "well done" in future.
