A place to check out and try for sure, i'd say is worth the hype! They use Hewitts Dairy for their ice cream and offer loads of flavours. Staff is always wonderful and fairly quick. There's also parking on site which is a plus! My go-to is usually the Unicorn Half & Half (half milkshake, half ice cream), which is topped with cotton candy, nerds, rainbow sour strips. The ice cream used is bubble gum! If you're not interested in their options listed, you can always creat your own! For the piece, you do get a large serving as well. Their paninis are also delicious! I love their Doritos Chicken Panini ($6.99). It is one of my favourites and is something I'd recommend trying. read more

Panini & Ice cream has been a great addition to Hamilton's dessert scene & I thought I'd update my review as warmer times are on their way. AMBIANCE: (4/5) The restaurant has expanded since I've been there last. There is much more seating in the back and they added a picture wall that you can use to take IG-worthy photos with your dessert. The lighting is soft but bright which also makes it a great place to hang out The front of the store is getting a little haggard. FOOD: (3/5) The sizes of the icecream scoops here are crazy. I absolutely love how much they give you - matching the price point in terms of quantity. 1. Oreo Icecream Sundae: This sundae was gi-normous and looked soo good - with whip cream, chocolate drizzle, and oreo cookies lining the cup. However, it was a little unsatisfactory. The 'oreo' icecream they used had basically no oreo in the mix. The icecream itself was bland (???). 2. Pralines & Cream: I LOVE pralines & cream. The kiddy scoop I got was so worth it. The icecream was creamy and thick. Exactly like the ones at Purdy's (my absolute favorite) but at a better price. SERVICE: (3/5) The service wasn't SPECTACULAR but was not lacking. The counter stretches around to the convenience store as well, so they service both. The icecream came out 8'ish minutes after we ordered (only 2 people in front of us) - which may be an issue in the summer time as it gets busier. This place is excellent lots of flavours and variety's. They have this thing called a half and half. It's half Sunday half milkshake. They are so delicious. They have Like every flavour you could think of. The staff was quick but not the friendliest They could use a mop and wipe the counters a little better as I noticed a ton of toppings in the bar style counter. It really wouldn't take that long to do. The music they had playing wasn't the most kid friendly and we did have children with us on this occasion. The ice cream is great the cleanliness not so much. A cute find! Although a bit far (from the McMaster area) the drive there is much quicker than bussing! Came here with a friend as a going away event since she was done finals. Upon arriving I noticed how the convenience store was connected to the store and I wasn't sure where all the nice Instagram backdrops people have taken at the place were until I asked the person working there and he said it was at the back! There is such a big variety of flavours that I need to go back as soon as possible to try the others! The guy working there let me try some of the other flavours before I finally settled on the unicorn ice cream half and half! The half and half is super pretty with a sundae at the top and a shake at the bottom and it is incredibly filling as well. The back was closed off for cleaning but they were finished cleaning upon receiving my order and although they mentioned it being wet I safely walked across the seating area and made it to the iconic backdrop with light bulbs. Unfortunately for me, this place didn't live up to the glowing reviews. The ice cream here is standard store bought ice cream, and artificial to max. It is a strange setup, attached to a convenient store. It appears the convenient store owners simply saw a business opportunity and expanded their shop to start serving ice cream and paninis. Kudos to them! The service is very friendly, and the place is very busy. Their scoops are massive - they give you a LOT of ice cream per scoop, but that is likely due to the wholesale giant tubs they buy from their supplier. If you are looking for some fancy ice cream made in house, this place is not for you. I would compare the quality to a large Klondike bar or Drumstick scooped by a person. read more

This place is my go to ice cream sit in hamilton, so long as I have some time. Even though the interior isn't renovated, it gives a bit of an industrial vibe. The furniture is relatively simple, though the chairs don't all match. They have the cutest polaroids of customers on the wall! The decor accents are colourful which definitely make the place feel happy - as an ice cream shop should be. Parking lot isn't huge, but there's enough to support the amount of people who would be there at any given time; I've never had an issue with that. Prices are super transparent, and completely reasonable. If something seems kind of expensive, it's because the portion size is so big that it's justified. All the employees were extremely kind, even when being bombarded with a line up of customers that went out the door! They shred through the order line extremely quickly, waiting for your food might take a bit of time - which is super understandable because it's crazy busy. Because of this, it's hard for them to clean tables and most of the food is kind of messy. Their ice cream serving sizes are actually RIDICULOUS; I ordered a small the first time I went and got a monster two scoops that took me forever to finish. The second time around I learned and ordered a grilled cheese and shake to split with my cousin. The sandwich was on the higher end, containing multiple types of cheeses melted together between perfected crusted slices of toast. The shake was extremely sweet, I wasn't surprised. This restaurant is on a small little strip plaza on Main st. There are only about 5 parking spots. I went mid-day, so was lucky to get a spot. After hearing such great things about this place, I decided to drive well out of my way yesterday (Monday) to try out their panini's and half & half. To say the least, I was very disappointed by my experience. The reasons why: 1. They had no Calabrese bread AT ALL!! 2. They were out of cookies and creme ice cream. 3. The blender wasn't working, so I could not try a half & half. The employ tried contacting her boss several times, but she was unsuccessful. I do not understand how a place called panini's & ice cream can run out of a type of bread (on a monday!!), and only have one blender. I hope the owner will learn from this and buy another blender incase this were to happen again, as I was very disappointed. I've had this place on my bucket list for a while now. The service was good, nice customer service. The place is a lot jankier than expected, I expected more of a nice artsy aesthetic place, but it's actually half connivence store.. and there's no photos of the product so besides the 10 pieces of paper you can read items off of, there's no visual to go with it. The paninis (ranch chicken & dorito chicken) were not very good. Nor filling. Very thin paninis unfilled for $8 a piece. The doritos in the sandwich were so stale and bad tasting. Tasted like chunks of cardboard. The ice cream (oreo sundae) was sub-par. The ice cream didn't taste very rich and creamy and I expected more from a parlour like this. Tasted like off brand Great Value ice cream you find at Walmart. Anyways, 2 stars for service and cute lights in front of the grass I guess. Also the bathrooms were quite clean.
