I have had several accounts with Synchrony bank, all my experiences have been horrible. They will arbitrarily lower your credit amount or close your account, even if you have been 100% on time, and pay off your account. They claim that Trans Union is reporting that we have too much dept, high balances, and little credit. However the opposite was true with us. We have an 830 Fico Score, our credit report with Trans Union shows we have $100,000 available in revolving available, less then 5% in balances on that credit. They are liars, untrustworthy, the worst bank I have ever worked with in 50 years. DON'T USE THEM!! read more

Before you apply for/agree to any store credit - no matter how awesome the introductory offer is - check to see who the managing bank is. If it's Synchrony, run away! Sprint! Synchrony is the buy-here-pay-here car dealership of retail store credit cards. Discount Tire. Amazon. PayPal. The list goes on and on and on - *tons* of stores use Synchrony to manage their in-house credit. Seems like they operate on a razor"s edge between legal and not. Definitely not ethical. Epic awful! I was granted a Discount Tire card with a $5000 limit. There was a great promotion for $100+ in gift card rewards if you bought 4 tires and paid with line of credit, so I did that for both of our household vehicles. Spent about $2500. A couple months later, with no change to my credit score driving it, Synchrony decreased my credit limit to $2500 - taking my usage of available credit from less than 50% to almost 100% Same with Amazon - an out-of-blue decrease in credit limit from a couple thousand dollars, down to exactly the amount that was charged on the card at the time, bringing usage to 100% Credit usage percentage has a major impact on one's credit score, y'all - here I was trying to build good credit (did not really have any type of credit accounts prior to these) and they ended up tanking my credit score, for no fault of my own. Buyer beware, it's basically a legal scam company set up to hit you with high fees. Set up automatic payments with them, even checked yesterday to make sure that it was set up and scheduled correctly. Then at midnight, instead of getting a notification of a successful auto payment, I got a notification of a late fee charge instead. Wish I could give this 0 stars. I applied for a credit for a vet bill, and while it provided the account information on the initial page, it was impossible to find ANY information anywhere else. This made it incredibly frustrating when I needed to pull up my information on my phone instead of my laptop. The solution would be to call support, correct? Which I did. I explained that I couldn't get the account number and was trying to pull it up on my phone. The support member made an off hand comment that "Well it wouldn't be on your phone". No way, really? That's why I'm calling you. Rude and condescending. Maybe if the user experience was half way decent I wouldn't need to call support to get the most basic information. Poorly managed firm. Their "rigorous financial review" in the words of the customer (dis)service agent determined that I was deceased. Fortunately for me, that is not correct and the credit reporting company which Synchrony referenced, finds that I am very much alive. However Synchrony will not review the application. If you pay a large amount on your credit balance , you cannot use that because they hold it under review for 10 days . I recently paid a lump sum of my credit line off and had to put my vehicle in the shop with intent to use the new credit line. After several phone calls , I was told that when you pay a value higher than $500 to your credit, the bank holds it under review 10 days. Now I will be out a vehicle for 10 days because they did not make this knowledge available on the app. And the app ACTUALLY says it will not reflect until the next 24-48 hours read more

This company has by far the most strict rules. If you don't pay on the exact date its do or they charge a 40 dollar fee. And when I called to see why my payment was so they didn't give me any reason so for several months I have been paying late fees I didn't know I had because I often made my payment a day late believing that would be ok just like every business I have dealt with. Synchrony keeps closing our accounts after we pay the balance off from special financing and then they don't make anything off of us. It's funny that after we paid off one account twice during special financing and after the 2nd account was paid off, they cut our available credit by 75%. After we didn't use for 9 months after that, they closed our account. It is funny that they penalize people for doing the right thing and paying off their balances! We have a couple more accounts that unfortunately managed by them, but once they're paid off, we will never do financing through anyplace that uses them!! read more

Worse company to obtain credit from, purchased a mattress from Mathis Bros with 12 months no interest, paid off in 6 months, never late and the thanks I received is they reduced my credit limit by $750, I also purchased a couch from Living spaces who also uses same bank with the same 12 months interest it's been 3 months, I've paid 1/3 of the debt and will have bal paid in 3 months, they didn't give me time to pay off before reducing my credit by $1000. Worse policy regarding billing periods ever experienced from any credit card. I opened an account on the 5th day of the month and my 1st billing period ended exactly 7 days later on the 12th . What kind of credit card gives you only 7 days before they close 1st billing period? All other cards give you 30 days from your opening date for first billing period. Called customer service. I had CARE CREDIT REWARDS That was issued 7 years ago by Synchrony bank. I wanted to buy a refrigerator from Lowes last week and the salesman asked me if I want to apply for a store credit Master card that is issued by Synchrony bank, and I said, what is the offer? He said, $300.00 off the price of that refrigerator if you are approved. I applied giving him my SSN, Driver's License number and address, phone number. It is the same information that I had for the last 8 years. He came back and said, they could not IDENTIFY YOU. I said, who? Synchrony bank? He said, Yep!!! They are asking you to talk to them to try to know who you are! But they already gave me a credit card seven years ago! He said, call them. I spoke to the representative and asked her the same question...How can you issue me a credit card based on the same social security number, address, driver's license number and phone number, and now you say you cannot identify me under the same information? She, exactly...what you need to do is go to the link that I am going to give you, and take a picture of your driver's license number and a video of your face!!!! I need to take a video of my face? She said, yes, if you want to pursue your credit card application! I did take a picture of my driver's license and a video of my face. The video was declined because the cam was too far from my face. I took another video and the same thing, your face is too close to the camera. On the third try, I made it and the credit card application was declined because they could not confirm my identity with enough confidence to approve my application!!! I have the letter. So now I have a hard inquiry on my credit card report and the card was declined. By the same bank that issued another credit card with the same data and info!!!! Not only that, when I tried to log in to check my CARE CREDIT info, the log in was declined and the sign in was blocked!!! Terrible Terrible Terrible! Ive had this card for less than 2 months, but I have only been using it for about a month. Within that 1 month time frame of using it I have had to call the fraud department at least 10 times. Every time I try to use it they lock the card, i call in to get it unlocked and then im able to use it for 2 or 3 days and then boom it randomly locks again for fraud even when the purchases are for amounts and places I have already made purchases from. I can understand if my card got locked after making a huge purchase from a place ive never used the card at. That would be fraud protection. But to constantly have my card locked over $5 or $10 charges from places ive already used the card at is annoying. That is not fraud protection. That is almost harassment. To have to constantly call in just to use my card is ridiculous. And now to make it worse for some odd reason after already having to call in multiple times in the past to get my card unlocked, for some reason now they want me to take a extra step and use their verification site on my cell phone and send them a photo of me, my ID and watch their video on how to complete the process. This is bullshit. In my life time ive a lot of different cards from different companies and this is the 1st one that ive ever had to deal with this with. The way they handle these things is annoying, its not helpful. Just let me use my damn card. Basically Synchrony Bank took over from a shaky and fraudulent Paypal Credit organization only in early 2020. Since then they have proceeded to double bill with their creative accounting services. Paid a bill in full only to have them come back and say it was "rejected by the other bank." Fact is that the payment was made from my Paypal Wallet which does not go through a bank but direct to them. Of course it was not noted by their creative accountants and another like bill appeared. Paypal Credit/Synchrony Bank, based in Draper, Utah Worst credit card protection I have ever experienced (and I have a FICO score well over 800!). It has taken over 4 months - and many, many hours of e-mails, posts on the PayPal web-site Resolution Center and false promises from PayPal Credit employees to finally receive credit and return shipping from PayPal credit for a fraudulent online purchase, which turned out to be a company in China that just sends cheap knockoff bags (Gadgets Po, dba Rainbow Prime - I have reviewed them separately!). This was after I attempted to use it and it was declined. I asked why I wasn't notified. So I got this card last year. I've made every one of my payments on time. They closed my account saying that they didn't received 2 of my payments. I have all my receipts, bank statements and emails where the money was taking out of my bank account and put in their account. The amount even came off of bill. They're still saying that they didn't get them. I went over to our Lowes store the other day to make my payment there, and they showed me pages and I mean pages of names that is having this same problem. Our DA's office reached out to me this morning and told me that they are getting everyone's account records and bank statements and tracking of the payments together because this stealing. I ordered several items from Amazon using the Synchrony Amazon Store Card, Visa MasterCard, and Discover Card. Some of the items were returned and I was given full credit for and others paid for. During the transaction stage other items were ordered using the Visa and Discover Cards. The reason for not using the Amazon Store Card was because of Amazon and Synchrony Bank being unable to accurately account for ALL items being returned or fully paid for. This has been an ongoing issue because they refuse to communicate with each other for clarification of any monies due or accountability of returned items. A three way phone call to discuss the issue was refused. I received an invoice that did not reflect the correct amount and made a payment of $62.00 and copied and pasted ALL the items invoices and sent them to Amazon. Also, I discussed the matter with customer service and requested they send me a correct invoice. I was never provided the invoice but continued to ongoing almost daily harassing phone calls to contact Synchrony Bank for a payment. They refuse to send an invoice. read more
