It was…read moresad to see a former friend leave Huntsville, but it took that move (because her family were patients of Dr. Toland) to open up some wiggle room in her practice to allow my husband and me a spot, under her care at, at the time, Baily Cove Family Physicians. I think I've been going there around 13 years, probably more. The Huntsville Hospital name change really did not impact my experience in any way. No problems getting appointments or changing appointments and her staff are *never* rude or anything but kind - in every dealing/appointment that I've had with them. Dr. Toland is the most compassionate, caring individual you will find. She really listens to you, she understands women's issues and concerns and "cuts you some slack"and is never judgmental. She understands if life gets in the way and precludes some of the better health practices that we all strive to adhere to and is so reasonable and kind. As far as appointments go, she runs on time probably 99% of the time. She goes over your bloodwork in painstaking detail and answers and explains thoroughly any questions you may have. Refills are easy to obtain and they always have the lab paperwork where it is supposed to be, in advance of any appointments. I'm not sick much, but when I am, she will try to work me in and the nursing staff are all kind and compassionate, too. I almost hate to "go on and on" about Dr. Toland, because I do not believe she is accepting new patients, don't quote me, I could be wrong. There are other doctors on the staff at HHPC, I've never seen anyone other than Dr. Toland, so I cannot comment on their care. I'm sure they are as good as she is, based on the fact that there is no turnover and everyone there seems happy. Thank you, Dr. Toland! You make physicals and doctor's appointments a pleasure!

After a few days, I feel like I am getting a sinus infection so I returned before the weekend. This medical office does a great job of working patients in. It is so popular that they are not taking new patients. It's been that way for at least 15 years it seems to me. Upon arrival with Dave, who probably has Covid because he is sick, we are immediately removed to a room away from the general population. I didn't mind. I don't have to sit in misery while I worry I might cough or sneeze with my mask on. Nobody wants to be near anyone who looks and feels sick. Doctor Brittany was out. Doctor Chrissy, more than capable of filling in for Doctor Brittany, checked us out. I have a secondary infection, sinus, developing. She checked me out and sent an e-prescription to Walgreens. Dave is positive for Covid. Doctor Chrissy sent cough medicine for him. Thankfully he wasn't as sick with Covid as I was. We have been patients at Gleneagles Family Medicine for years. I…read morehave been seeing the "doctors" at Gleneagles Family Medicine for probably half my life (I'm 32 now). They KNOW I have a history of this. They have refused to treat me and only want to test me for covid, which they had already done about a month ago. The test was negative. The doctor brushed off how I was feeling and said it was probably viral and gave me a prescription for antibiotics but told me not to fill them for a few days because he said I would start feeling better. I filled them immediately and took them as instructed. It's been a month and I am still having the same sinus related issues. They only wanted to test for covid again. I can't even count how many times I have been tested anymore and every single one of them has come back negative. Well I called and demanded treatment this morning. All I asked for was to be actually seen by a doctor or nurse practitioner and be given a steroid shot, antibiotics, and cough suppressant. After multiple phone calls to and from the nurse, not only was I NOT seen by a "doctor" or "nurse practitioner" I was literally given a steroid shot OUTSIDE in the alley. A nurse who did not identify herself came outside with a syringe, alcohol wipe and a band-aid. She said I could either bend over my front seat or step out of my vehicle to receive the shot. I have a very small car. I had to get out of my car and pull my butt out for anyone to see. After receiving the shot I had to ask for an antibiotic prescription again which was called into my pharmacy begrudgingly. I never received any prescription for my cough. This ally way that I just received my shot in is also where they do all of their drive by covid testing. So if I haven't had it before I probably do now....

I had an incessant cough - so bad that I was having trouble catching my breath. (Why I didn't tear my husband away from his football game and take me is still a mystery.) I hadn't been to urgent care since the middle of Covid. I figured I might as well go back to the last place I had been. They were close and in the past, quick. I got there to find them closed with a homeless person passed out in front of their entrance. Now where to go? I've had more than my share of lousy service at AFC so I continued to look. I saw Approxie care on the list of sites. I was a good 10 miles away but I at least knew where it was - I had received a (drive-thru ) Covid test there. I arrived to find one other family in the waiting area. I grabbed a mask, quickly checked in and sat in the corner to distance from the others. Check in was easy, you know the drill - hand over your cards, fill in the papers on the clipboard and have a seat. No different from most any medical encounter. I waited no more than 10 minutes when I was escorted into the exam room. A young girl - high school young - took my vitals, asked me about what was going on and swabbed me for Covid and the flu - pretty routine. In the back of my mind I wondered how a teenager was qualified to work there but she told me it was her third year in the medical program at Bob Jones. Later when I thought about it, I was impressed that Approxie was actively supporting our young people in their career paths. Dr Shah soon came in, listened to my chest - he didn't need to ask me to cough. I'm sure had heard me through the walls. He asked a few questions, listened to my chest and diagnosed me. Apparently my symptoms were textbook for walking pneumonia. It was just a gut feeling, but Dr Shah's bedside manner immediately made me trust him. He did do a chest xray to reassure me as bronchitis and I are no stranger. He prescribed a breathing treatment and antibiotics and sent me home with the standard rest and hydrate and like that, less than an hour after I entered the building, I was driving home. The only issue that I had was that Dr Shah told me to do the breathing treatment twice a day but my orders and prescription both said once a day. By the time I called the office to confirm, they were closed. The medicine had me feeling better in a couple of days though 3 weeks later I still have a cough. Approxie definitely isn't the most convenient place to my home but if and when I or a family member needs urgent care, this is the place we are coming too. I really can't say enough about the care I received.

He was an active listener and actually explained his rationale for what he prescribed and what next steps he recommended. Now 4-5 hours later I am already noticing a difference.
