Tried the hot pot! To order you fill out the paper and put in a qty. we tried the half vegetarian and half meat spicy broth hot pot. The beef lamb. Fatty beef, and tripes were really good along with all the veggies. Be careful with the hot veggies so as not to burn your tongue. The food's so good, you could keep eating even when you're full, at least that's what happened to me. Definitely try the hot pot. I'm definitely coming back next time to try their other no. Hot pot entree! Good service. The lace is spacious and was not crowded when we went for a late dinner.

Sze Chuan Restaurant is an easy 5-star favorite for us. When dining in, the service is good, the food is outstanding, and the seating/ambiance is totally comfortable for a relaxed meal. When ordering takeout, the experience is just as impressive. Our food has always been ready on time and just as delicious as dining in. The flavors here truly stand out and are far superior to any other Chinese spot in Milwaukee. We genuinely go out of our way to order from them because the quality is consistently that good. On top of that, the portions are generous, making every meal well worth it. A must-try for anyone looking for flavorful, high-quality Chinese cuisine, specifically szechuan style!

This place came highly recommended by a friend and she was so right. I was just along for the ride and defaulted to her for ordering and we all came away happy, full, and with leftovers to enjoy. We got the szechuan grilled beef, string beans, pork & tofu, szechuan cold noodles with peanuts, General Tso's chicken, and spicy pork dumplings. We shared a large Sapporo, too. Everything was incredible. The food and drink came out super fast and we had a lovely feast before us. The service is friendly and relaxed. Brief check-ins, water refills but mainly leaving us to enjoy and chat, which I really like. It's a place to hang out for a while with friends and family and take your time. I can't wait to come back to try the hot pot and get some of these favorites again.

Always have enjoyed coming here for surprisingly great Szechuan food for Milwaukee! It's a place we always try to stop by whenever we are in the area or want to meet up with friends. We came for a weekend lunch and it was pretty busy. Service was slow but understandable since it was so busy. We really enjoyed the eggplant, twice cooked pork, and sesame chicken.

I'm still thinking about the Dry Chili Fish Filet days later. Had that mala we sichuan people like. My sichuan dad would slap his knees by how good the food is. Service was fast and to the point. Tons of people at the restaurant around 6:30-7pm. Not pretentious but clean. They had 水煮牛 (boiled beef - it's Sliced Beef in Chili Pepper Soup on the menu) which that's how you know this food is authentic. But I actually really enjoyed the Crispy Chicken in Garlic Sauce - it definitely was not as spicy but had that crispy fried texture but glazed in sweet and sour sauce. The Mayo Tofu with pork and Twice Cooked Pork were hits as well.

Wowow. I am still drooling thinking about the incredible food here. We came on a Tuesday night with a party of 6 and were seated right away. From the moment we walked in we were greeted right away and the servers came by to check on us several times to refill our water (always a must). We started with appetizers of spicy pork dumplings and egg rolls. The dumplings were incredible. They were so flavorful in the chili sauce. The egg rolls were also very delicious with a perfectly thin/crispy wonton. For the main food everything was incredible! You must come with an appetite to share these generous portions of food. Our group favorites were the sliced beef in chili pepper soup, twice cooked pork, and crispy chicken in garlic sauce. The mapo tofu in pork was also incredible in addition to their fried rice and dry chili fish filet (although too spicy for me!) One of our fortune cookies was soggy but other than that our experience was incredible with the delicious food. I cant wait to come back to my new favorite Chinese restaurant.

I hate to knock off some stars, but waiting an hour longer than your scheduled pick-up time is ridiculous. The fried rice was greasy this time. The dumplings and tofu were delicious as always but not worth the chaos.

Came for Saturday lunch. Place was busy but we got seated immediately. Portions are great, very shareable. Green beans are the best in the city and have such good flavor. The pork chow was decent, but I would maybe try a different main dish next time. Crispy tofu was new, and it was cooked perfectly. Flavor was good but wish it had a light sauce to dip in. Overall very good and hits that craving.

Amazing experience! Our service was fast and the servers were very nice. The restaurant is overall nice with nice tableware and real chopsticks (not the flimsy disposable wooden ones). We ordered the crab Rangoon and veggie rolls for an appetizer, which we loved! The dipping sauce is 10/10. My friend and I tried their stone pot, which was a fun experience but a tad spicer than the server explained it would be and had more of a Tabasco sauce heat to it. Their General Tso's chicken had some heat to it too and was so good. My favorite dish that our table shared was their chicken Lo Mein! A classic dish done super well with great flavor. Overall, we had a great experience and will come back!

this is a go to spot for me and my mom! it is family style in their servings--you get a big plate of it and share with the table. their fried tofu is delicious, almost wish there was a sauce to go with it too but by itself is great as well! their beef lo mein was delicious too, i loved the silky and chewy texture of the noodles and the veggies they put in it. food comes out pretty fast which is great! i've tried their egg drop soup too which is so good. they have a big menu but i'm really the type to be a repeater in my orders! i am such a big fan of their thai iced tea too, not too sweet and you can taste its freshly brewed!

The food is amazing, i had the Sesame chicken and it was cooked perfectly, beef fried rice and my wife had the sautéed squid dry pot. The service was good. The serving are large. You should definitely try this place.

I thought today that I would visit my old friend and even though I have been around the world with the menu that dam general Taos chicken dinner combination is my favorite. The general Taos chicken combination comes with chicken fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken is always big moist chunks of tender velveted chicken which I can't tell if it's white or dark meat because of the velveting process but I like it. The egg roll isn't the tiny ones that became the norm over the years and it's super average like 95 % of Asian restaurants now, not like years past when the egg roll was a signature staple in Asian restaurants and they made really good ones. The combination chicken fried rice is that kind you find on most combination menus, not the main dish dark fried rice full of meat and veggies but just enough to accompany the main dish. Overall it's tasty enough and better than the average neighborhood Chinese restaurant and for a dinner combination that was 2 1/2 pounds of food for $13.50, price vs quality vs taste it's a winner.

If you are celiac or gluten-free, I don't recommend ever eating here. While they have a dedicated gluten-free menu with options for changing things out, on two separate occasions (of the 4 times I've been there) they've made a mistake. It puts you in a challenging and uncomfortable situation when you are curious about something actually being gluten-free. I know for myself, you don't want to insinuate that you don't trust your server! My most recent visit there I had the shittake/vegetable Ramen with rice noodles. I explained that I can't have soy sauce because it contains wheat. I explained that if they have tamari that they could check if it is wheat free because I often can have tamari instead of soy sauce. I explained that I can't have anything that contains wheat. My server informed me that she would make sure that this was gluten-free, that the rice noodles would be replacing the Ramen noodles. While eating I was curious if the noodles were not gluten-free, and I was informed that they do seem to be rice noodles. We were also sure to order the tofu as steamed rather than fried so that it would not have cross-contamination. (Due to first glutened experience) Later that night and the following day I can report that what I ate was not in fact, rice noodles or gluten free, and I have been glutened. On a previous occasion, I ordered the fresh spring rolls with a sauce that I was informed was gluten-free with tofu. While already eating this, the server came over and informed me that the tofu was not gluten-free, and had been fried. I think that there may be some lack of understanding what gluten-free means and how it impacts people generally in most of the food service industry. I believe they did their best to try to accommodate. That being said if you are celiac or gluten intolerant, please steer clear! Very unfortunate because it was tasty. I understand that as someone who needs to eat gluten-free that I am taking a risk by eating at a restaurant that is not gluten-free forward. Although they have a dedicated allergy menu, two out of the four times I've eaten there it hasn't made a difference. Great restaurant, not great for celiac.

I'll start with what we liked - the ambiance, the location in the historic Third Ward (although finding street parking close by can be tricky on a weekend), the service. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu which is always appreciated and makes for a better dining experience. When we arrived we had a reservation so it was nice to have zero wait time. We were led back to our table and ordered drinks. The non-alcoholic menu was slim on options but the options were creative. We were told dishes are made to be shared so we ordered a few bigger dishes and the kimchi pancakes. When the kimchi pancakes came out it was nice that they were deconstructed so you could build your own as you like. Kimchi can be an acquired taste so I personally liked being able to control how much I had in each bite. The other dishes were large. These are not shareable dishes- they are legt. main courses. The Mongolian beef was ok. It had a lot of vegetables and color which was nice. The Mapo Tofu dish was a let down. It kills me to say that but it tasted funky. It was a strange flavor and not a good one. On the menu, this dish has three chili peppers next to it which the server told us indicated that it is one of the spiciest dishes on the menu. It had zero heat and zero spice. I asked for some chili crunch to add on top which I also thought fell flat on flavors. The flavors all around just weren't jiving for me. And there was fresh cilantro (maybe?) on top which did not help the situation. In hindsight the Top Chef coverage of Dan Dan and hype in the local media made us think every dish here was going to be amazing and unfortunately we didn't think so. I don't need to return any time soon.
