We have had a bad experience this weekend with their food. My wife and I ended up getting sick soon after finishing her sesame chicken, rice and crab rangoon. We were puking and had diarrhea all night and we don't know if it was the chicken or the crab or the rice or all but we are now afraid to go back. Having moved this past year, I found myself looking for a closer option for Chinese food. We found Asian Chef and I am happy to say I will go back. Everything we ordered was great. We got everything we ordered, so that's a plus too. I wouldn't classify this as an eat-in restaurant but you can. Mainly to go or delivery. They were quick. 20 minutes from the time we ordered. Do yourself a favor and pretend to eat the food as you look at the pictures and then order somewhere else. We were excited to try this food and it looked really good. We placed our order over the phone. They said it would be ready within 10-15 minutes and gave us our total. Less than 2 minutes later the lady who took our order called back saying she gave us the wrong total and gave us the correct total. We showed up, got our food and brought it home (note we live less than 10 minutes away) and sat down to eat. That's where the pleasant experience ends. We ordered shrimp eggrolls, crab rangoon, vegetable fried rice and orange chicken with beef added in. Shrimp egg rolls - we would have been better off ordering a regular egg role. There was litterally 2 pieces (and I mean pieces) of shrimp in each one. Definitely not how it was portrayed on their site / menu. Crab rangoon - It was okay but had a strange after taste that we've never had with crab rangoon at any other place. Vegetable fried rice - We tossed it in the garbage after a few bites. Everything in it was terrible and the vegetables were mushy and tasted old - like a couple days old. Orange chicken with beef - NO FLAVOR - none at all. We ended up adding some of our own spices and sauce to it just to have some flavor at all. We were really bummed especially since other reviews were favorable of this place and maybe they were having a really off day but we won't be back. read more

The ambience was not very impressive. Small and not very cozy. The people were not very friendly to start. I went in to have lunch there. I ordered hot and sour soup and shrimp pan noodles. They gave me a to go bag and my food in plastic to go containers as if they wanted me to leave even though I told them I was going to eat there, which I opened and ate there. The soup had a long black hair in it. I pointed out the hair and they took it back and gave me another soup. I ate everything and it tasted just ok. Later that day I got bad diarrhea. In my continuing egg roll quest, I stopped at Asian Chef to try theirs. $1.70 each is slightly more than I want to pay for an egg roll, but if it was a good one I figured it would be worth it. Unfortunately, like so many others, Asian Chef's egg roll is grocery store freezer section quality. Absolutely not worth the money and I would not be shocked if they admitted to getting them at the Pick 'n Save across the parking lot. Stopped in on 7/30/23. Order egg foo young, egg rolls, & shrimp fried rice. Everything was good up until I poured the gravy over the egg foo young. The gravy was by far the worst gravy I've ever had. It ruined the egg foo young. My wife heated up canned gravy for her egg foo young, I live in West Allis in the area of hwy 100 & Greenfield ave. Lived here for 7 years now, and this was the last of the Chinese restaurants I've tried. Prior to moving here, I lived on the N/W side of Milwaukee. I used to frequent a Chinese restaurant on 85th & Lisbon called Wings. That's where I got hooked on Chinese food. Everything I ever ordered from there was nothing short of spectacular. Standard Chinese food you could find most places but service is fast and cooked to order. Counter service with limited seating. Again pretty much your standard menu offerings. They offer 18 different lunch specials under $6 that includes fried rice or white rice. The Kung Poa Chicken wasn't very spicy but was good. In summary it is good. They are fast and reasonable. Ordered take out tonight from this place. We usually LOVE their orange chicken, its soo good and we get it every time we order. Tonight we ordered chicken Lo Mein. However, we weren't that impressed. It ended up being pretty good but I've had better from other Chinese places. I liked the noodles but I think there could have been more flavor overall. It tasted some what plain, but nothing a little sweet and sour sauce couldn't fix. We also order their crab ragoon every time we go, which does not disappoint! I would say their portion sizes are very generous. Each entree we order usually feeds us for atleast 2 meals. They are always very quick with our order (we have only ever done take out). The staff is very nice. Definately recommend this place, we are regular customers and will continue to keep going. read more

We did the work lunch thing here and had no idea what to expect because this was a new spot for us. We placed a large order to go and the service was great, they did forget the no mushrooms in one order. Other than that they labeled every meal and organized them in a way like no other so it was a breeze getting the food to the right person. They also threw in 6 free crab Rangoon with free marked on the bag which was nice and I will get to that later. Everyone liked the food but I can only comment on what I had. I had the special combination plate of hot and spicy beef, c14. You get hot and spicy beef, chicken fried rice and an egg roll. The egg roll was above average with fresh ingredients that still had some crunch. The spicy beef was not very hot so I asked for extra hot and I got a side of a spicy pepper paste. The beef was good with fresh ingredient, thank you for not cooking the vegys to mush because they had the right amount of crunch. The combo fried rice is usually not very good from most places but here it was very good. Once again cooked perfect and not mushy but firm. The rice was that separate grains and not all stuck together and mushy with peas, moist fresh pieces of chicken and onion. The fried rice was very good and the fresh juicy pieces of chicken really impressed me. Crab Rangoon is something I can take or leave because it never really does anything for me. When I took the first bite I was instantly slapped across the head by how dam good it was and thought this is the best dam Crab Rangoon I have ever had. The shell was lightly crisp on the soft side with a luxurious creamy filling that just blew me away. Over all Asian chef was a winner with the quality and freshness of the food. I asked the crew if we should add them to the rotation for the Friday lunch and it's now in the rotation. Asian food is probably the third most popular ethnic style in the U.S. and Asian Chef really stands above most so we will be back. This was a great find in Brookfield. I did post pictures. read more

Asian Chef is nice addition to neighborhood. It's a great place to pick up a quick meal of good, freshly prepared, Chinese food. I've only ever been here for lunch and both times I've been impressed enough to add it to my list of places to get take out. It's a small place at the end of the strip center next to panera which makes it easy to miss. The crab rangoon and the kung pao shrimp are tasty without being overly seasoned. The hot and spicy beef isn't really hot and could use a bigger kick, but even so, it still hits the spot. I usually notice msg in chinese food and therefore am cautious in trying new places, but I've had to problems with the couple times I've been here which is another reason why this will stay on my list for takeout. read more

Good, but not great. I wish I'd known they automatically give the free crab Rangoon for a purchase over $25 because then I would've gotten a different appetizer or more egg rolls instead of an order of Rangoon I paid for. The chicken egg roll was exactly the quality and taste I'd nice and crunchy with lots of filling. I had the orange chicken chef specialty. I liked the flavor or the sauce, but the orange peel bits if I didn't notice them left a very sour taste if chewed. The chicken itself was all dark meat and not tender or easy to chew. This is where I'd rather go to Panda Express and get better meat for a cheaper price. My girlfriend had the general tso chicken. She said the chicken without as much sauce was good, but the pieces at the bottom of the container with more sauce left a weird aftertaste. She also had the same dark meat chicken issue. I'd be willing to try something else there like egg foo young or chop suey, but will stay away from the breaded/friend chicken scraps I got. read more

The Sesame Chicken and Mongolian Beef weren't anything to write home about.
